Wasn't a perfect fit in the 90 Dodge W250. Going to have to trim the factory instrument cover slightly but like the quality and installation instructions and wiring.

Nice head unit that really needs some 'user-friendliness' built in to the controls. Lots of different functions that can't be adjusted easily while driving make it a little frustrating to use.

I want to keep my 86 442 looking as stock as possible, could have gone for aftermarket that would look like an upgrade but wanted the stock look. Really happy with the look and functionality and input options for this radio, especially BT and USB input. The supplied harness adapter for my Oldsmobile was key for quick installation, just take your time soldering the adapter to the radio output tails. Instructions were not to clear on the orange wires, but I emailed support and had an answer very quickly (Awesome). Overall the radio look and sound great, it's not a super powerhouse radio your going to crank out loud tunes, but I was not looking for that. Keep in mind this radio comes in two pars, the body and then the faceplate\head, you need to assemble it first. You need to read the instructions before starting, but a little unclear at times., I made a vide I plan to post on YouTube. Only issue were the side mounting brackets, they don't line up to exiting holes in the dash and they also caused an issue for reinstalling the woodgrain cover. I reinstalled the older plastic brackets and they worked fine, but they are brittle so I need to find metal ones(I think older Monte SS or GN had metal ones). The little mic for hands free phone conversations was clear.
Pros: Wiring harness adapter was key for installation Looks great, very close to stock Like functionality Options for subwoofer, preamp, etc. Wiring guide for my car was also very helpful Quick tech support
Cons: Radio was a little pricey The side mounting brackets did not work for me There is a back support strap that needs to be supplied, that is difficult to connect once radio installed

Really cool but the mounting for the Jeep Wrangler doesn't work and the Jeep panel you remove to install covers part of the wording for the top knob. Also directions they give is for a model that has a left / right knob setup. I will keep it because after all the finagling with cardboard to get it set right it's not worth the time to take out. But my goodness $400 is a lot for something that isn't perfect. Customer service was amazing though. Called twice with questions and both times they helped out.

Overpriced "Kit" Radio
Frank from Milton, VT on 5/9/2021

Wow, I'm so torn on this product. RetroSound basically designed core modules that handle all the input, output, processing etc. It's a smallish box, smaller than most head units. There's a few models of these core modules to choose from, with varying levels of features. Then they designed a bunch of faceplates that act as an interface for this core module. The kit is delivered as two separate boxes, which must be assembled in various ways to suit your vehicle. For the New York faceplate, the core module attaches RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the back of faceplate, thereby ensuring that all available space has been absolutely trashed. They could've had it mount in a corner, or even just an edge, but no... they went for the middle. This is aggravating because there's SO MANY WIRES coming out of this thing!!! Between all the wires, the GIANT fuse box and the way the core module is attached, this thing ends up being bigger than a 1.5 DIN head unit would normally be. As for the attachment method, the core module is held in place with 4 tiny screws that go through poorly drilled tiny holes and thread into sheet metal that's poorly tapped. It's a recipe for disaster. In my case, the entire package ended up being so huge, I couldn't mount it the intended way. I had to spend extra for the remote mount extension harness, which is NINE FEET LONG... just so I could mount it 1 foot away. The poor quality doesn't end there, but I'm running out of space to type it all out.
Pros: Great sound quality, looks clean, lots of inputs, much better tuner than OEM radio it replaces, decent feel to the controls, lots of controls for an interface that looks so simple
Cons: Terrible quality "kit", assembly sucks, unbalanced backlighting (knobs and buttons are super bright compared to display), backlighting doesn't dim with dash lights (?!?), antenna stays up even when listening to output other than radio, no HD tuner (?!?), does it have to say CLK when displaying time? Can't disable unused outputs (must scroll through them), tons of wires are permanently attached even if you don't need them, no external input jack (steering wheel controls, etc), the list goes on..

Clean look

Purchased these in October and recently received other things I wanted so I could install everything together. I purchased this mainly because it's the OEM look with updates. So far I love it works perfectly and haven't had any problems with the functionality. It was easy to install. Draw backs I've had is that the radio you have to put together and the face plate you have to mount to the radio. The holes that you insert screws into are not clean so be prepared to have to mod it a little. I had to ship the first radio I purchased back since I could only for 1 screw in and the others would not thread at all. The second one I got was better I got 2 in and the other two were partly installed but were secure overall. It is annoying because you pay a lot for this radio and it doesn't connect perfectly. Also the dim setting for the radio light is bright compared to the other original lighting in car. I installed the radio in my 87 El Camino. The speaker door panels from photo were purchased from OPGI.
Pros: Original look
Cons: Price Modifications needed

Pros: Exact product but upgraded with today's features.
