Modular versatility
Rylan from Cheney, WA on 4/2/2025
1986 Chevrolet Suburban
The whole unit is very modular and the easy setup between internally amplified outputs and non amplified outputs is very easy. Small and easy to install. If a volume dial breaks it's very simple and easy to change only one, the modular design makes it easy to change and modify to fit different applications or asthetics
Pros: Modular design, easy to install, internally amplified outputs
Cons: Internal amp feels a little bit underpowered depending on the application

Was pretty easy to install in 1967 Chevelle. Thou fit not perfect, it still looks good. Sound quality is also good. As far as features go this radio seems to have them all. Still learning controls and how to use it, but so far so good.

Random Problems
John from TULSA, OK on 8/1/2024
It's great when it works but it randomly locks up, once every few months. It won't even turn off. I have to disconnect the battery to reboot it. I have talked to RetroSound and they basically tell me it's bad installation and they are not very nice either. I did what they suggested (radio needs a dedicated ground, good battery) but did not help. Their trouble shooting says voltage stability could be a cause but I don't know how to monitor this continuously to catch a random event. I'm thinking it could be the radio design-I've never had a radio do this in this car and this is the fourth radio. But the others were not computer controlled either. I had a touchcreen radio in another car which would act up sometimes, but I could always turn it off and reboot it. Of course, they say I can send it in but it's a real bugger to remove and install. I really can't recommend it.

Great replacement radio
Guest from Los Angeles, CA on 7/9/2024
I purchased this radio to replace a slidebar radio from Custom Autosounds. The Custom Autosounds radio had issues with the slidebar breaking - gear tooths breaking therfore not allowing the faceplate to move up and down - and then the iPod connection went out not allowing the iPod to charge when connected and finally the USB connection failed as it was unable to read the USB memory drive with both MP3 and WMA files on it. The tuner was iffy at best so I had no choice but to replace it. Looking back, I should have gone with the Retro Sound brand but it was the iPod capability that really drew mw towards the Custom Autosound radio. Lesson learned. I am more than satisfied with the RetroSound radio as it does everything it says it will do and even had Bluetooth. Looks like it belongs in the center console from the factory and the installation was a breeze if you know what you are doing. Luckily since this is the second time installing a radio, it was a snap but first timers should not have any issues with the installation. Would highly recommend this company and this radio. Although I didn't purchase this radio from Crutchfield as I bought it directly from RetroSound, the price was the same.

No AUX input, but a nice head unit
Phil from Payson, AZ on 6/3/2024
1962 Chevrolet Corvair
I had been waiting to buy the previous version of this stereo because my project car wasn't close enough to finished yet. When I was ready, it had been superseded by the M2 which doesn't have an AUX input. I'm still happy with this unit. It receives radio stations in our rural area about as well as my Camry, and has good sound . The programming instructions were a bit of a challenge because of the multiple options, mostly controlled by only two buttons. IT LOOKS GREAT, THOUGH, in the factory radio space.
Pros: Fits in factory location Looks almost factory (without the dial numbers) Good sound Bluetooth USB input
Cons: No AUX input Programming is challenging
