About the Accele FT-LowProfile

Buck Pomerantz

Add a circuit that's safe and neat

If you have a low-power electronic device or amplifier turn-on circuit that requires a dedicated source of +12 volts DC, this FT-LowProfile fuse tap from Accele will provide the needed connection to your vehicle's electrical system safely and efficiently. Just unplug the appropriate Low-Profile Mini fuse from your vehicle's fuse box, plug this fuse tap in its place, crimp the power wire for your device to the included butt connector, replace the original fuse, add one for your new accessory device, and you're ready to go.

Energy when you need it

In most cases, you'll plug the fuse tap into a circuit that provides +12 volts DC only when the vehicle is turned on. Otherwise, your device may stay on indefinitely, draining your vehicle's battery. The fuses mount at a right angle to the original, lying flat when installed, giving room for the fuse box cover to close.

Installation notes: The new accessory fuse should have a current rating that's lower than the original fuse, otherwise the current draw could overwhelm the original circuit and blow its fuse. Working on your vehicle's electrical system incorrectly could result in damaged equipment or personal injury. If you don't feel comfortable working inside your vehicle's fuse box, we recommend you consult a professional car stereo installer.

Q
Can this support an 18 ga wire?

A
Thanks for reaching out, Craig. The included butt connector fits 14- to 16-gauge power wire, but you can swap that out for one that works for 18-gauge. https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c195/p_120RNBC/Install-Bay-RNBC-Butt-Connectors.html and then can use 18-gauge wire.
