Plenty of features

This rugged, IP66-rated unit has all the features you could want in a CB radio. You can access channels on AM or FM frequencies and the built-in DSP (digital signal processing) ensures crystal-clear sound quality. The built-in Bluetooth can connect to a wireless headset, and there's a hands-free function that starts transmitting as soon as you speak.

You'll also appreciate the "instant-on" feature that fires up the radio when you start the vehicle. And speaking of instant, you can instantly switch to emergency channel 9 or information channel 19 with the push of a button. With all that, plus Cobra's legendary durability, this rugged radio is ready for your next adventure.

More details on the Cobra 75 All Road

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Cobra 75 All Road (CCBR75AR01) is an advanced recreational CB radio that mounts in your vehicle with an all-in-one handset that can connect wirelessly with Bluetooth to the transceiver. The package comes with the mounting hardware and a 12-volt harness for hardwiring the radio in your vehicle. You can also power the handset with the included USB power adapter. The 75 All Road has 40 CB channels plus Weather. It is IP66 waterproof rated, and is ideal for outdoor recreation, off-roading, sports, and emergency use. The typical range of the 4-watt CB radio, vehicle-to-vehicle or point-to-point, is 2 to 4 miles.

Note: The 75 All Road does not include a CB antenna (sold separately). The radio has a standard female UHF antenna connector (SO-239).

AM/FM Dual Mode: In 2021, the Federal Communications Commission revised FCC Rule 95 to allow CB radios to use frequency modulation (FM) to improve sound quality and lower noise interference. The 75 All Road features Dual Mode, transmitting on both AM and FM frequencies. The radio is backwards-compatible, so that it can communicate with older AM-only CB radios.

CB Channels: The 75 All Road is a full-powered, 40-channel Class D station in the Citizens Band Radio Service. With advanced Phase Lock Loop (PLL) circuitry, you can tune all 40 CB channels and a Weather Channel. You can select a CB channel using the up/down arrow keys on the front of the unit. The display shows a large 2-digit readout as you tune the stations, along with a signal strength bar graph.

Weather Channels: When WX Auto Scan is enabled, the radio will look for and lock onto the strongest weather station signal which will be accessed when you switch from CB to WX mode on the handset. You can also enable instant weather alerts to instantly switch to the WX channel when an alert is received. When weather alerts are picked up, the radio will make an alert sound when it picks up the 1050 Hz tone transmitted from the National Weather Service.

Installation: The 75 All Road CB radio consists of two main units: the transceiver (black box) and the all-in-one handset with a display, controls, and coiled cord. The transceiver must be hardwired to your vehicle's 12-volt wiring, and can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle. The handset/display is powered through its coiled USB cable, either from the USB port on the transceiver or the USB port on the included USB power adapter that plugs into your vehicle's 12-volt power port. If you use the USB port on the transceiver, you will need to install the transceiver in close proximity to the chosen location for the handset.

Bluetooth: The transceiver and handset communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth. If desired, you can pair an optional Bluetooth headset to use while driving. The 75 All Road does not pair to a smartphone. If you want to use a Bluetooth headset and a smartphone, the headset must support multi-point--the ability to pair with two devices at a time. You can also pair the radio with Cobra's optional All Road PTT button, available from the manufacturer.

VOX: The 75 All Road is compatible with VOX, Voice Activated Transmission. You can transmit hands-free without having to use the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button. When VOX is activated, the microphone listens for your voice. When you start talking, the radio starts transmitting, and stops when you finish talking. VOX is most useful when you're driving or need to keep both hands on the wheel. In the menu, you can adjust the VOX Level from 1 to 9, the trigger point for VOX to operate, and the VOX Delay from 1 to 9, or the amount of time after the user stops speaking to stop transmitting.

Digital Signal Processing (DSP): The CB radio is equipped with Digital Signal Processing (DSP), which is a software-enhanced noise filtering feature that produces better sound and improved speech intelligibility. In the menu, you can increase or decrease the level of DSP for receiving and transmitting.

External Speaker: The 75 All Road has a 3.5mm audio output on the rear panel for connecting an optional passive external speaker. The speaker should have an impedance of 4 to 8 ohms, and able to handle up to 4 watts. In the Audio Routing menu, you can select one of three options: Bluetooth Speaker only (default), External Speaker only, or Bluetooth and External Speakers (simultaneously).

Controls: The 75 All Road has the following controls on the handset:

  • Top: Power switch.
  • Left Side: PTT (Push-to-Talk)
  • Front:
    • NB/ANL: Noise and sound filters to reduce noise from the engine or vehicle electronics: NB: Noise Blanker; ANL: Automatic Noise Limiter; NB/ANL: Combination of the two filters.
