Focal 100 ICW 6
I'm impressed by the Focal 100s. Have a house full of Focal architectural speakers from the 300 series but decided to go with these for a zone where music listening is usually low volume in the background. I installed these using the existing cavity as the backbox vs custom MDF and they still do quite well. They're not the 300s but they're still perfectly satisfying to listen to with similar voice and good imaging. Overall seems a good compromise between reasonable price and solid performance.

Excellent clarity and dynamics for this price point. Install was very smooth due to the chassis design.
Pros: Quality, install, sound dynamics.

Nice!

For my taste, I have to set the treble switch to + or else there is not enough highs at the default (middle) position. The tone is mostly balance with a little bump up in the low mid. Depends on the sound source, it can be boxy or muddy b/c of this bump, or it can sound thick if the sound source is thin. The high is smooth and pleasant, you can listen for hours and not getting ear's fatigue. However overall there is not enough clarity and details. I decided to use the Focal for music. It shines with instrumental music like jazz where neutral is desired, and any mix that is mid-scooped (like EDM/Dance). I also bough a pair of B&W CCM665 and tested then side-by-side with the Focal (check that review if you want a comparison). I use the B&W for surround/Dolby Atmos. My rating is relative for ceiling/in-wall speakers and not comparing with speaker with enclosure. The ceiling/in-wall in no way can have the tightness and bass of a well designed cabinet.
Pros: somewhat neutral sounding
Cons: can be better if there's more clarity

Super Bright. No Bass
Jacob from Seattle, WA on 11/17/2021
Bought 6 of these for around my house from Crutchfield. Installed the rough in brackets and couldn't hear them until after construction was done, 4 months ago today. Connected a pair to a Fosi amp and they have no bass! They're super bright. I even turned down the tweeter switch on the speaker and turned the bass up all the way on the amp. My cheap Polks sound better than these for music. I am pretty disappointed. I used the Crutchfield listening tool to hear them and they had plenty of bass there. Perhaps the fosi amp at 100 watts a channel is too weak, but unlikely. I plan to connect them to my home theater amp soon to rule Fosi out. But so far not impressed for the price. They look good and install was easy with the rough in brackets.
Pros: Great looking
Cons: No bass
