Features
Overview: Focal's Azurys high-fidelity over-ear headphones feature Aluminum/Magnesium full-range "M" dome drivers to produce its remarkable sound. These passive headphones have elegant styling infused with reliable Focal technologies. The French-built Azurys comes with a 50" cable with an in-line remote, and a handsome zippered hard carrying case.
Azurys Origin: The origin of the name Azurys comes from azurite, a semi-precious stone with healing properties. Azurys' cool blue color with its pewter accents and Focal signature design elements give the headphones an elegant look.
Design: Focal headphones are designed for performance, comfort, and pleasing aesthetics. Azurys' lightweight magnesium yoke is curved to fit the head perfectly. The headband features genuine leather along the top and breathable fabric underneath to keep your head cool while you listen. The circumaural ear pads feature memory foam that cradles your head, and the same cooling fabric as the headband. The denim-effect rigid carrying case features the Focal "F" logo on the front, and has a zippered closure.
Drivers: Azurys closed-back headphones feature Focal's patented 40mm full-range electrodynamic aluminum/magnesium "M" dome drivers. Aluminum increases the rigidity of the dome and reduces distortion. Magnesium is added to the driver for its excellent damping properties. This combination allows the drivers to deliver accurate, deep bass, smooth treble, and clear vocals.
Closed-back Design: Azurys' drivers are housed in closed-back ear cups that help to immerse you in your music. Closed-back ear cups, by design, naturally block some degree of ambient noise, helping you to concentrate on your content without external distractions. In addition to sound isolation, closed-back ear cups typically add height and width to your music and enhance the bass response. This design also prevents sound leakage so you won't disturb others around you.
Running-in Period: The headphones require a running-in (break-in) period in order to reach their full potential. The drivers will naturally break-in after several hours of listening over time. To speed up the process, Focal recommends playing very bass-heavy music through them for at least 24 hours at a relatively high volume. This stabilizes the speaker drivers, and assures you get the very best performance from your headphones.
Cable: The Focal Azurys headphones come with a 50" audio cable with a straight 3.5mm plug for the left earcup, and an angled 3.5mm plug to the source unit. It features an in-line remote that can control some portable music sources with 3.5mm headphone jacks. The remote has a single button that controls play/pause (1x), next track (2x), and previous track (3x).
