Wrong speakers for 2017 Passat; Great Customer Service

2017 Volkswagen Passat
First- I want to start by saying this is not a review of the product quality, but rather a review of customer service and an informational piece to tell you what this product is NOT meant to fit. This speaker does NOT fit the front doors of a 2017 VolkswagenW Passat. Despite Crutchfield fit guide saying these will fit the front door of the 2017 Passat- they will not. Even the Focal website recommended these for my Passat. Although shallow enough, the speaker with the housing in diameter is far too big. Does not slide in and would span over to the door panel clips. Hopefully Crutchfield fixes the fit guide, since I notice as of today Crutchfield only lists these as "Will Fit" front of Passat- which is incorrect. However, when I called Crutchfield and told them the situation, the representative immediately helped me with swapping these out for the 6.5" equivalent set (the 165s). Sent me a return label and made the swap out process easy since I had two weeks after the replacements came in to ship back these ones. Honestly easiest phone call with a customer service rep I ever had. He looked into it for me, checked the measurements and recognized the 180s are in fact too big and set me up with the 165s. Thanks CF! I'll leave a review on the 165s replacements one I have them tested. (Just installed them) Note: yes, the factory woofers in both the front and rear of the passat are 6.5". Trust me, I checked so that you would not have to ??

2014 Beetle Upgrade

Installed these in my 2014 Beetle and the improvement in sound quality on just the stock headunit alone is amazing. Can't wait to add a better headunit later

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan
Great speakers, everything was easy to install , tweeters were a little tricky to install though but not impossible Only issue , the rivets provided were impossible to cut with my Snap on gun . They wouldnt break off all the way . I ended up using the screws and shims providided.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan
I have a 2017 Tiguan and was looking for replacement speakers for the front doors. According to Crutchfield's website the Focal Inside VW 165 would fit so I ordered them. They ended up being to small, one call to their customer service and they gave me a prepaid shipping label and a full refund. I reached out to Focal and they told me the VW 180 were the one that fits all Tiguan 2, so I ordered them. I installed them today, the speakers have factory connections so no splicing and Focal even included new rivets. You can see how much bigger the woofer magnet is than the factory. The OE tweeters needed the factory tabs melted off to remove them from their mount. The Focal tweeter has a adhesive on the front to hold them in place but there is a piece of foam on the back that holds them in place as well. The mid bass has improved substantially! Plus the tweeters are a huge improvement over the factory ones, the factory tweeters used to tire my ears out after about 45 minutes.

2007 Volkswagen GTI
Fits perfectly in the Volkswagen GTI MK5 and sounds great. You will have to do some splicing on the tweeters (for MK5) as the plug there will not be plug and play like the lower speaker. The tweeter and midrange drivers in the Volkswagen MK5 both have 3 wires for their respective crossovers. In this case, you'll need to snip those wires and make your connections. At the driver's side tweeter, you should see a black, black, and black/red. One black is positive, while both the second black and black/red are negative. On the passenger side, you'll see the same color codes. Where this 3 pin plug for the speaker mates with the vehicle's 3 pin plug, the black that lines up with green is positive, the black that lines up with violet is negative.
Pros: Sounds great! Both speakers fit the default speaker housing. Comes with the rivets you'll need on the lower door, although they are SUPER long.
Cons: Tweeters will require splicing to work correctly. Is not plug and play. Contact crutchfield and they can explain further if need be.
