Exceptional performance

These are the finest speakers that I've ever owned or heard at this price. As the volume is increased, they just continue to deliver exceptional and articulate sound. I've owned other Focal separates, however, these flax are definitely a cut above and worth their asking price.

Focal PS 165 FSE
Matthew from AUSTIN, TX on 2/13/2023

Great sound and relatively easy to install. The tweeters were a tad tricky as I had to snake through the door and drill out the wiring connector which was a bit of a learning curve and there could be better documentation or a video showing the reality of these. The sound however is great - probably the best upgrade of everything I purchased.

Wasted My Life To Find Them !
Rafay from Brambleton, VA on 2/9/2023
2019 Toyota Camry
I wasted my time money energy my 36 years of life to find them. I Always thought Focal is just a fancy name and marketing but I was wrong when I considered buying them after Watching JR training manager review on YouTube. Focal ISS 165 I trust him and purchase from Crutchfield why because I always been a victim of counterfeit products from online marketplace I'll never buy car audio from anywhere else except Crutchfield. Even I went to Charlottesville 2 hours drive to install my amplifier to Thanks Crutchfield. These are the best lifelike sounding speakers I ever listened Magic is In the TAM tweeters they fill center stage well wider dispersion and sudden change of pace in music will shiver your bones. Instruments have thump and low end doesn't sound bottom end noise Bass is full and boomy! Built quality is far better than any manufacturers high end speakers I wish I could see them everyday.
Pros: No Amp No DSP Subwoofer no problem they even sound Amazing flat EQ and you are good to go ! You may spend more money like me and end with nothing. If have to start over again I'll buy these speakers first.
Cons: Short pre wired crossovers. I hate crossovers I wish they go away make next generation life easy. May sound bright for some people and few songs I notice hit or miss mid frequencies instruments however you may listen more low end bass and details then ever.

Very VERY Good Speakers
WYATT from WHITEFISH, MT on 12/12/2022
1996 Toyota 4Runner
These speakers are astounding. They reproduce sound so accurately that it seems as though the musical instrument is right in front of you. You don't just hear the guitar strings; you hear the fingers on the strings. You don't just hear the sound of a vibrating piano string; these reproduce the sound of the wooden keys and the soundboard of the piano. There can be milliseconds of silence between notes that most speakers just resonate through and smooth out that texture completely. These speakers' cones can stop dead solid in these moments and pick back up, thus reproducing that "Live Music" texture. You will hear things from these speakers that you haven't heard before. If you want very good, accurately reproduced music, and need it from a 6-1/2" speaker, this is the one to buy. Don't waste your money buying cheaper speakers, and trying to adapt your system and tweak your Equalizer and Crossover to extremes to compensate, only to throw them away in frustration a year later (like I was doing). These are truly remarkable speakers, but you will want a high quality, accurate Sub to pick up where these speakers capabilities drop off in low bass.
Pros: Truly astounding range and accuracy.
Cons: Quite expensive (but worth it).

Great Speakers

2021 Nissan Altima
I have a 2021 Nissan Altima with Bose. It sounded good but I wanted better. I have listened to these in a box store but since I had purchased from Crutchfield and I know their support is fabulous I purchased from here. I was not disappointed at all. They sound freaking AWESOME! I am using the factory amp with a LC7i and pushing 50 watts per channel. It is VERY loud and clear. You can here the fingers on the guitar strings and the vocals are perfect. I would recommend these if you want the next level of sound. Honestly, I had a budget of like $300 and had to step up....no regrets.... just had to add that.
Pros: Clear sound, great sound quality
Cons: highs can be a little hot at times

Simply incredible sound. Punchy mid bass and crystal clear highs make for a musical experience. This speaker truly is ear candy.
Pros: punchy mid bass, crystal clear highs. Pricey, but worth every penny.
Cons: I wish this was offered in a 2 ohm version.

Focal PS 165 FSE
Lance from Dallas, OR on 12/8/2021
2011 Toyota Tacoma
Sounds great paired with my Focal amp. I have a small vehicle interior and these fill the space well. Not much low end bass from the woofers BUT that's not what these are designed for. Great product. Great sounds.
Pros: Very clear vocals. Matched with lossless audio these do great to bring out extra detail
Cons: Not much low end bass. Lows are around 70 Hz

100% naturale'
Crutchfield customer from Campbell, OH on 5/20/2021
The focal flax EVO 2 way set is unrivaled at its price point. They are some of the most true, natural sounding components on the market at thier price point and even up to the $1k range. If you know what you're looking for out if this specific set, they will do nothing but satisfy. If you're expecting them to perform along the lines of other manufacturers sets costing $2k to $5k, then that's were unsatisfying purchase comes in. These are a great performing componet set. I actually picked these after a blind AB test with these versus the focal K2 set and the morel hybrid 2 way set. My too pick was the flax Evo, morel in second and k2's 3rd. While the morel had a very pleasant sound, great midbass. So did the flax Evo. The flax Evo tweeter was brighter and more dynamic than the morel, and less bright than the k2's. The k2's had slightly more mid bass extension that "colored" the music. The extra mid bass in the k2 set was more than needed to blend. It was more of a "let's get louder at the expense of musical accuracy" If I was going for a "SQ-L" system, then the k2's are hands down winner. Going for as accurate to recording as possible, the edge was given to the morel actually, being the flax tweeter was more bright and in your face than morel. I like a bit more tweeter, but not as bright as the the k2's. The difference in the flax tweeter vs the morel can easily be tamed using DSP active setup. My testing was done with passives that came with each set.
Pros: Price Performance Look Build quality
Cons: Don't care for inline style crossover, but I'm active and won't be using anyway. Worth mentioning for others though

Great speakers
Timothy from BOONSBORO, MD on 9/24/2020
these speakers are well made and the sound follows , if i had to pick at one thing being any thing you review always has a good in the bad , being some one that has owned a few component systems these rank close to 1 for me . i have owned infinity kappa perfect when it first came out orion, polk momo , infinity ref . i say the kappa highs had that crystal clear highs when they came out , but the mids were not as good as some of the others. these focals are the best set i have owned with the tweeters very close to the infinitys . these focals are really the full package for a set under 500 you cant go wrong with these , money well spent .
Pros: great sound woofers are great tweeters sound nice
Cons: the brackets they give you have to be modified because of the magnets no biggie just have to remove a few of the tabs . i just used the side of my drill bit. you could use a dremel if you perfer
