Great looking and great detail

Had a pair of floor-standing speakers my wife was adamant about getting rid of. We settled on a custom AV cabinet that would house good bookshelf speakers. A buddy of mine has focals and loves them. I've heard them before after break-in and was a fan. I needed front ported given the tighter space. I also wanted 6.5'' speakers with great imaging. These fit the bill. I bought the white and I am glad I did. They are warm, take low power and still sound good, and are not too shrill. I'm still breaking them in a month later but they are not going back. My next move is to update the center to match. Acoustic music is incredible. For a full range of music, movies, or streaming, you will need a sub to complete the package.

Big Things Do Come in Small Packages

I was looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers that would A) work with the custom-designed solid-walnut console I designed and had built by ADCO Woodworks in San Diego, B) be front-ported, C) play well with my vintage Marantz 2240 receiver and Technics SL-1700 turntable (sporting an Ortofon Red stylus), D) accommodate my diverse tastes in music, and E) not break the bank. I worked with an expert at Crutchfield who took all of the above and came back recommending the Focal Vestia No. 1. I'd never heard of Focal before. But then my chiropractor raved about his new Focal headphones and I did some investigation of my own and was sold. I like good sound, but I'm no audiophile and lack the technical acuity to describe things as well as some, but I will say that straight out of the box, the sound was warm, rich, and full, with wonderful clarity and detail. I'd previously been running Dynaudio Focus 220 Mk IIs to the same setup and was expecting to feel like I sacrificed sound for space, but I don't feel that way at all. Very impressed indeed.

Replaced my old PSB Image B5's and didn't want to spend much more than $1000. Got these for $950 in the Crutchfield sale. Very pleased. Great sound, very clear and crisp, bass is fine for me without a subwoofer. Aria's were a little too large for my space.
