Features
Compatibility: The Boss BHD3F Harley-Davidson Front System is designed specifically to fit select Harley-Davidson motorcycles and includes a 4-channel amplifier, two 6-1/2" front speakers, and pre-assembled harnesses and adapters that let you integrate the audio system into the existing motorcycle wiring. Compatible Harley-Davidsons include:
- Electra: 1998-2013
- Street Glide: 2014-up
- Road Glide: 2015-up
Note: Your factory radio will need to be flashed by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer after installation of the BHD3F system. This will ensure optimal sound quality and performance while helping avoid speaker damage.
Speakers
BPS65: The Boss BHD3F audio package includes a pair of Boss BPS65 6-1/2" 2-way speakers for mounting in the front speaker location. The speakers feature an injection-molded polypropylene cone with a rubber surround and a stamped-steel basket. The BPS65 speakers include a coaxially-mounted 1" polymer dome tweeter. The 4-ohm speakers have a sensitivity of 90dB and a frequency response of 100Hz-18kHz. Speaker mounting adapters are included along with 3 sets of speaker grilles for Electra, Street Glide, and Road Glide models.
Amplifier
4-Channel Amplifier: The Boss BHD3F includes a BPS400.4 4-channel amplifier for powering your speakers. The class-D amplifier can provide up to 75W RMS x 4 (150W x 4 peak power) into a 4-ohm load. Mounting brackets are included for Electra, Street Glide, and Road Glide installation.
Controls & Indicators: A covered panel on top of the amp provides access to the controls for setting up the amplifier.
- Front & Rear: The front and rear channels each have their own individual crossover and gain adjustments.
- Gain: Individual Front and Rear level controls let you dial in the optimum input signal level.
- X-Over: A 3-way switch for each set of channels can be set to Full, LPF, or HPF.
- LPF & HPF: Two rotary dials for each set of channels lets you select the high-pass or low-pass cutoff. frequency, each with a range from 50Hz to 250Hz.
- Clip: A Clip LED for each set of channels will light to indicate the input signal has reached the distortion or clipping point; the Gain setting should be lowered to just below this point.
- Common Controls:
- Input Mode: This 2-way switch determines how many input channels will be used, with the choice of 2Ch or 4Ch.
- Power/Protect: A single LED is used to indicate whether the amplifier is powered on or if it goes into protection mode due to a fault.
Inputs & Outputs:
- Audio Inputs: The BPS400.4 provides four 4-pin Molex inputs - two Hi Inputs can accept speaker-level signals using the included 8" wire harnesses, two Low Inputs can accept pre-amp level signals using the included 10" RCA-to-Molex harnesses. Wiring harnesses are provided for interfacing the factory wiring.
- Power/Ground/Remote: A removeable 3-pin Euroblock connector provides the input connections for power, ground, and the remote turn-on lead, with each wire held in place by a set-screw. A pre-cut and partially loomed 5' length of 10-gauge power and ground wire are provided for connection to the bike's battery and chassis ground. The power wire includes an in-line 40A Maxi fuse.
- Speaker Outputs: Two 4-pin Molex outputs provide the speaker-level outputs for powering the included front speakers, as well as your optional rear speakers (not included). A 9.5' rear-speaker harness provides both the rear speaker-level inputs to the amp and the speaker outputs to your rear speakers. Front speaker output harnesses are included for running to the BPS65 front speakers.
