Doesn't work with Apple's AAC music files, it's 2025, how is this even a thing. My 15+ year old Kenwood in my other car works perfect with my Iphone. Other than that, the headunit worked and looked great. Returned and exchanged for a Kenwood KMM-BT332U and haven't looked back.
Pros: Lots of functionality for a "cheaper" headunit. Easy install.
Cons: Doesn't like Iphones.

When the factory radio in my 20 year old truck took its last breath, I searched for a used OEM replacement. After an extensive search, I was only able to find a few, none of which were guaranteed to work. This unit was $20 cheaper than a 20 year old used one. It adds Bluetooth, hands free calling and a USB port, none of which the factory radio had. Came with installation brackets, a tool to remove the old radio and a plug and play wiring harness. This was an easy choice. Only one bad thing......now I want to upgrade speakers to take advantage of this great unit.

Crutchfield Rules!
Alexander from Akron, OH on 4/29/2025
2007 Buick LaCrosse
HONEST REVIEW! Very pleased with my order! I am not handy/technical at all and Crutchfield made it easy for me. I was lost on which console to get, what radio is compatible, wiring, etc. Just entered my car info-found one within my budget-added the wiring service and received my package in a couple days. I popped out my old radio and installed my new one very quickly-after never have doing it! My only regret is that I used the manufacturer metal mounting unit instead of the brackets included in the console replacement unit. It's a little loose but works great! I for sure will be returning for my car needs! Felt like a boss being able to install the radio so easily.

I changed out an old radio in a 2000 Chevy pick up truck and it was easy. Crutchfield sent me all the harnesses and adapters that I needed. The directions were great and I was done in about 2 hours. I grew up reading the crutchfield catalog, but it was out of reach when I was younger. Prices and services are more than reasonable and competitive now. Every time that I added something to my cart Crutchfield added the adapters for free. Thanks, my old truck now has a modern BT stereo

Got this for my son's car, it had a factory CD stereo, but he probably owns 1 CD. This was a perfect for his needs, easy install, with the provided hardware and instructions, one of the main reasons I purchased through Crutchfield. He connected his iPhone with ease, it was a breeze to set up and he also made his first phone call through the unit and the sounds was clear. This was a nice little upgrade to his first car.

Best Place for Audio Equipment
Robert from Wichita Falls, TX on 4/21/2025
Just the in dash unit I was looking for. Old School, not too fancy, does what needs to be done, plenty of power to run four speakers two tweeters for an unbelievable price. Crutchfield included ALL the indash hardware to be able to install. I paid a small fee to have them join the new wiring harness to the units harness for a seamless installation (too many wires to fondle with). The Metra accessories hardware was a no brainer to purchase for the price. Has taken me two weeks to install due to some bad storms and property damage I recieved in the first part of installation. The music sounds fantastic on my 2000 Toyota Celic GT. The instructions were perfect which included a list of tools I would be needing during installation and covered from unhooking negative battery post to unit door panels rear panels speaker removal new rings install. Crutchfields YouTube page provided me on how to program the unit and go thru each phase. Did call tech support for best microphone location placement. The last time I used Cructhfield was back around 1984, they are in business for a reason. Great prices, support and availability if you need help. Glad I went with Crutchfield.
Pros: When looking to purchase from them, was asked many questions which allowed them to provide me the necessary equipment to complete my install. Their YouTube channel is a place to go to , to fine tune your radio.
Cons: Nothing that technical support can't handle.

Just installed it today on my 2001 Tacoma! I chose the single din so I could get extra storage with the cubby. I'm really happy I went with the "Ready Harness", as it made the install quick and easy. It fit the Tacoma without any issues and it looks and sounds great with the factory speakers. The instructions were straightforward, however don't forget to plug in the microphone before you place the unit in.
Pros: Quick easy install and I like the JVC unit. The instructions were very thorough and it helps to watch a few YouTube videos.
Cons: I don't think the instructions mention plugging in the microphone, so do t forget to do it. Other than that, no others Cons.the ordering, delivery and instructions were all straightforward.

This basic JVC works great in my around-town car. The Bluetooth connected easily and I know it will be reliable just like the half dozen JVCs that I've installed in my vehicles the past 15 years. I had about a 10 year old (major brand) digital media head unit in my convertible with factory speakers and was always happy with it, but it didn't have bluetooth. Only had it a week but overall a satisfactory unit. Does all the basics competantly but isn't a standout at anything really. The settings are really clunky and adjusting them is a pain but mostly don't have to touch them. Also if you want to tune to anything else but the first 6 FM stations it's a total pain in the butt and I'm unlikely to ever use it because of that.

Sounds Great, But App is Disappointing
John from Pleasant Hill, MO on 2/17/2025
2000 Honda Accord
This receiver replaced a Sony XPlod CDX-GT440U that finally gave up the ghost. Its 22/50 RMS/Peak watts made my 6-1/2" 2-way & 6"x9" 3-way Kicker speakers sound significantly better than the Xplod's 17/52 RMS/Peak watts ever did. I would give the receiver itself 5/5 stars. The 4/5 star rating is because I was majorly disappointed with the associated JVC Remote App. On my iPhone, I wasn't able to get it to work with the receiver. Despite being able to connect via Bluetooth and play songs, the app kept complaining that no device was found and told me to be sure it was in iPod mode. (???) My wife was able to connect to the receiver using the JVC Remote App with her Android phone, but was so frustrated by it that she stopped using it after 5 minutes and deleted it from her phone.
Pros: The Receiver Itself
Cons: The Supporting Apps

2010 Honda Civic LX stock CD Player Upgrade
Brian from LEWES, DE on 1/3/2025
2010 Honda Civic
So I had bought some coaxial speakers when the original rear stock speakers were found to be severely sun damaged with fissures and holes. After doing some research using Gemini AI it recommended a solid upgrade at budget friendly would be this JVC. Basically 3 times better sound stage. I still have stocks in the rear having put my good up front and the sound stage is alarmingly better. So I ordered new Skar Audio TX65 6.5" 200W 2-Way Elite Coaxial Car Speakers rated to 100 rms like my other speakers. I can always upgrade to a better head unit when I get bored with this one limited to 22 RMS, or just add an amplifier. Crutchfield? Should have gone with Clutchfield because they were very clutch when it came to making this super easy.
Pros: 3x RMS output per speaker than my stock. Plenty of professional frequency adjustments for the audiophile at heart.
Cons: It's red where my vehicle color pallete is blue. But red is my favorite color.

Flaky
ace from AL on 12/8/2024
1995 Ford Explorer
Bought this unit for my old '95 Ford Explorer. I sold this SUV to a friend in '18 for $1500, it had a Kenwood unit from Crutchfield in it then. I bought it back from him in '22 for $500, Kenwood not working anymore. So paying this much for a stereo was 'pushing it' cost wise. Just needed a simple sound system with phone connectivity for what is basically my utility vehicle, and thought JVC was a decent brand. It works, somewhat. The unit won't hold the radio station last set when the key is turned off. It won't keep clock settings at all, but oddly it will keep stations set to buttons. I don't use the SUV daily so didn't keep up with issues and am now probably out of warranty. Anyway, you get what you pay for but I don't think I'll look at JVC again.
Pros: Relatively inexpensive
Cons: Relatively inexpensive

Disappointing: Cheap Quality, Dim Lights
Eric from Austin, TX on 11/26/2024
This is one of the cheapest stereos that Crutchfield offers for a reason; you get what you pay for. The LED lights look as faded and dim as if it's 10-years old, but it's brand new. They display options are very limited and the buttons feel very clunky and cheap. I didn't have super high expectations based on the price, but this is still very disappointing and I wish I spent a few more bucks on a better unit. I spent all the time and work installing it, just to regret it, which is a big bummer.
Pros: Crutchfield is great and item sent quickly.
Cons: Almost everything.

Well, I had a lot of questions about another brand. I was steered into a JVC which I believe was a better idea. The left channel went bad soon after purchasing. Crutchfield helped me troubleshoot and we verified that the problem was a faulty receiver. I didn't start the troubleshooting until after the 60-day Crutchfield warranty, so I had to deal with the manufacturer. The manufacturer requires the unit to be sent in for repair and inspection, with no firm turnaround ETA, and I have to pay for the mail. So, the manufacturer warranty is essentially worthless for these cheap receivers. These units are $ cheap and you get what you pay for, if they work for any amount of time, then you are lucky.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Worthless manufacturer warranty

Bad bluetooth
Dustin from SUFFOLK, VA on 10/7/2024
2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Bought this for bluetooth capabilities, the first month it was great, instant connection with phone when I got in, 6 month later it doesn't auto connect for like 5 minutes, and now it will connect but won't play the audio, I see the name and the time and it's accurate but no sound, unplug face and it works until you go in store and come back out and you have to reboot radio now everytime. Besides that, it's okay for the price point

budget friendly - works well
JONATHAN from Round Rock, TX on 9/23/2024
2002 Ford F-150
I bought this head unit to replace an older JVC head unit (KD-R200 - with CD player) in my 2002 Ford F150 work truck. The old unit allowed color changing, but didn't have bluetooth and didn't have a USB port. I loaded a USB drive with .mp3 music files and they play well (same with .mp3's I have on my phone). Haven't tried streaming, but I assume it'll work fine. This is actually the pickup's 4th stereo (counting the original w/ a cassette player - ha). Not sure why CRUTCHFIELD sent a factory stereo removal kit when I indicated the existing vehicle had a JVC aftermarket stereo installed. Oh well.
Pros: Bluetooth, USB drive
Cons: Color Changing

Great instructions, quality products, accurate accessories for installation, and all at a reasonable price. Add to that excellent support from Crutchfield for the entire process. The KD-X280BT works great, has excellent sound, paired easily with two phones, and worked seamlessly with the JVC remote application on my Android phone. Having driven my Jeep without a working stereo for several years, this was going from the desert to lush oasis.
Pros: Easy installation, simple user interface, quick setup, good price, great sound, nice design

So far it seems to be good. Only complaint is trying to set up the EQ. If you don't know what's what it's hard to get it. I'm used to having a display that you know what is base and what's treble. Just going to take time.
Pros: Has everything you need. Would buy again if I would need another. Especially for the price.
Cons: Which everything it has as far as the EQ it's hard to figure out.

James from Taneytown, MD on 7/2/2024
Good performance in a compact package. Dropped right into dash with kit from Crutchfield and my system sounds MUCH better than my factory system with my upgraded speakers (also from Crutchfied)
Pros: Price /value. Pairs with my Android quickly. External mic provides clear phone calls. Better FM reception than the radio it replaced. I also bought the SWC module and that feature works great with this radio.
Cons: I wish I could change the display color from Red to Green, but that's pretty minor. Won't play my antique iPod, also pretty minor.

Easy enough install, just follow instructions. Works well. Price was right. Shipping was fantastic. The outer case around the radio does not fit quite right. I have a gap (1/16 - 1/8 inch) along the top between the car's dash and the radio. Wouldn't be that noticeable except the color of the radio and supports behind the facing is silver and it shines out. Next time I take the dash apart I will color everything behind the facing a dull black.

We don't watch DVD's and we're just looking for a radio and Bluetooth and this doesn't just sound great, it's a perfect fit and has better range than the Furrion on Bluetooth. Only thing I have to do is figure out how to set it up. I'd definitely recommend this head unit!
Pros: Sounds great and I'll have to upgrade my speakers eventually.
Cons: Always looking for longer bluetooth range but that's just bluetooth technology. So none.

5 star for me since I was stuck using a cassette adapter for Bluetooth on my OE radio for my 2000 Pontiac for the longest time and they're trash. Its nice to be able to switch to Bluetooth reliably. Not a CD user so I didn't need one with a CD player. Perfect, basic radio for anyone who needs good Bluetooth without needing a CD player. Its nice to have a red backlit one purely to match my OE lighting.
Pros: -Nice backlighting -Good Bluetooth -Nice display -Good feel

Inexpensive, works well, and decent sound quality.
Julio from Gonzales, CA on 5/29/2024
1999 Toyota RAV4
My daily commuter is a 1999 Toyota RAV4. I kept the factory radio for several years but I can't stand the local radio stations playing the same songs anymore. Also, those FM radio bluetooth dongles have terrible sound quality, so I never bothered with that option. Removing the factory radio and installing this new unit was very easy. The most time consuming part was soldering the included wiring harness adapter. If you're not good at that, I highly recommend paying Crutchfield the extra $25 to pre-wire it for you. The only thing I don't like about these aftermarket bluetooth stereos is that they require an app to to connect. You'll have to download a JVC app, because there's specific interactive controls available between the stereo and your phone (audio settings, skipping to next song, pausing your phone music app via the stereo). Overall, a good and inexpensive stereo that gets the job done.
Pros: -Inexpensive -Decent sound quality. -Includes microphone accessory option for phone calls -Adjustable light brightness for both the display and buttons
Cons: -Requires downloading JVC app for bluetooth interaction -Doesn't work with USB-C phones or USB 3.0 for direct phone-to-stereo connection (it will charge your phone, though). -

This fit perfectly in the 2002 T800. Set up wasn't too painful and the sound quality is good. The depth of the stereo is about half of what the old one was which is nice, it takes up less space in the dash that is already full of wires and airlines. Not many gimmicks and works great. very simple and good output. The JVC app is trash if that's the selling point and only works with android. The Crutchfield wiring is worth every penny, made this so simple and nothing to figure out. Overall if on a budget, this gets the job done and is clean. Like others have stated, it remains lit red so if you don't like red, do not get it.

I bought this to run exclusively off a USB stick, so I haven't tried the Bluetooth. It works well enough; my only complaints are that the display is *extremely* dim, even on its brightest 'day' setting, and the USB feature is very picky about the size and formatting of the stick you use. You might run into trouble with higher-capacity modern USB sticks.
Pros: Straight-forward installation Good audio controls
Cons: Extremely dim display Limited USB stick compatibility

20th century truck to the 21st
Clinton from Lawrence, KS on 3/17/2024
1998 Nissan Frontier
Exactly what I needed in my 98 Frontier. The head unit is about half the depth of a traditional cd player head unit which allows for much shallower mounting in the dash. Very simple to hook up with the Crutchfield supplied vehicle harness adapter. If a previous owner hadn't butchered the speaker wiring harness on my truck I could have easily installed the head unit and new speakers in 30 minutes or less with Crutchfield's harness adapters. The unit is easy to navigate and has a lot of customizable options. I love the auto connect to my phone and music starts playing after a few seconds. Make my 26 year old truck feel more modern.
Pros: Easy of installation, sound quality, features, price
Cons: None so far

Installed this in my 1998 Ford Ranger. The install went well by using the Crutchfield supplied power harness and bezel. Using the supplied Ford radio removal tool made removing the factory radio a 30 second job. Didn't even have to mess with removing any dash panel. The stereo itself works very well. Lots of features for the price. It also made a huge difference in how well my old factory speakers sound.
Pros: Lots of features for the price.
Cons: None

This is a review for the overall experience. The radio should be easy to install, but the wiring harness was not wired correctly turning a 30min job into a 4 hour job as I tried to troubleshoot which colors went to what speakers. The colors on the jeep side do not match the colors on the radio. Wiring harness: 0/5 stars JVC itself: 4/5 stars --> there is no way to shut off the color vibrating feature and there are no other colors besides red. Antenna connector: 0/5 stars --> it is too short and does not reach to the antenna.

I liked it but then I ran into issue after issue, the install was easy and the pairing went easy. When I started to play music the first thing I noticed was the amount of bass or rather the lack of bass, so I changed some settings but if I enable bass boost it sounds weird and if I change it in the eq I still don't really get much bass. I went on thinking maybe it's the new speakers, when I went to go drive I turned up the radio and a new issue, if I turn up the volume (with or without audio) I get a high pitch noise from the speakers. According to my phone it's somewhere in the ballpark of 11,000 to 14,000hz, I went to turn on my headlights and noticed it doesn't dim instead I have to go into the menu and turn on night mode. I decided to try my old oem radio, and the sound quality was noticably better. With the old radio I had bass again and the treble sounded more detailed.
Pros: Looks decent, Bluetooth, FM and AM
Cons: Poor sound quality, doesn't automatically dim for night time, lots of noise/inference, the buttons are only one color (red)

I wouldn't buy this again. Poor quality. User interface is overly complicated as well. Bluetooth connection is finicky between iOS and android devices. Sound quality is poor. No remote included. The quality of everything seems to have gone way down. Crutchfield was good to go as far as ordering goes. They had the best price and fast shipping and included install accessories. I still want to rip this out and replace it with something else though. Overall I would have went with something else hindsight. 1/10 would not recommend.
Pros: It was priced cheaply.
Cons: It's cheaply made and of poor quality.

This has been a great unit. And for only eighty bucks, it's fabulous. Replaced the stock unit in my 02 Lexus ES so as to be able to stream my music. I'm not an audiophile, but it seems to have great sound even with my factory speakers! And appreciate that the song info scrolls on the display! Plus love that Crutchfield has a harness ready for it. CAUTION - be sure to set the volume from your old unit before you install this. Keep your old radio in case you have to adjust it later. If you're looking for a decent unit and budget at that, look at this one!
Pros: Good sound Easy install Budget price Song info scrolls on the display
Cons: Display could be brighter Night light could be dimmer.

To be honest I just don't like it. After about 30 minutes it sounds like the speakers are under water. I have mtx terminator 69 60 watt in the deck and terminator 6 45 watt in the doors all new and installed correctly. I'm just running the head unit with no other amps or anything else. I'm also just listening to fm radio and maybe a podcast cast. The head unit back lighting will also flicker at times.

Radio went on the fritz in a family member's 2000 Silverado. After seeing how much good used/refurb OEM radio costs these days, we decided to go aftermarket. He just wanted a radio that was easy to use with good FM reception. After looking through the cheaper options here I picked this one as it seemed to have the most options while keeping most of the simplicity of the original radio. First, I like how pressing the volume knob simply mutes or pauses the music, instead of bringing you to a menu you have to back out of using another button. Second, I liked how the display can always display the clock in the bottom right corner. Third, the hardwired dimmer input. Install was a snap, family member is pleased with the FM reception and thrilled with Bluetooth and the boost in sound quality.

The unit is very easy to install, has some good features for the price, offers up surprisingly sweet sound (even with the lame OEM speakers which are next to go), and is relatively easy to sort out, setup-wise. But the manual supplied is just about useless in describing particular details even when one drills down. It is essentially a quick guide. Downloading the 64 page manual from JVC's site clarifies some things a bit better, but talks in acronyms so you'd better know your XYZ from your ABC.
Pros: Clean display, ease of install, sound quality, price, function
Cons: Wafer-thin quick guide manual not helpful

Don't buy it! Find another brand, find another place that will be close by that will accept returns or refunds. To be fair Crutchfield has great support, no doubt. This JVC product is not good. I have had problems right about 6 months after purchase. Crutchfield was even going to replace it. I had to wait when I had more time to swap out. Now dealing with JVC and now regret waiting. The stereo can't be reset and starts up at loud volume on preset fm station. I even duplicated with JVC tech while troubleshooting problem. He said that didn't sound loud to him. Are you nuts, it starts up at almost full volume. I can't reset by removing head and pushing in reset button, or through radio, or by removing battery cables. I wished I had kept stock radio. JVC acts like I'm trying to rip them off, I'll have to send unit to them and if the problem shows up they'll go from there. They were already telling me that if not how much they'll charge me for repairs. Do yourself a favor and just buy one from a local retailer, you can easily return to local store. This JVC radio is not worth the pain it will cause you! I give the whole crap show a one star because that's as low as it goes!
Pros: You'll get to go to shopping soon!
Cons: Frustration at it's best

I purchased this to replace an older Blaupunkt Adelaide 130 to use in my 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. I've got 6.5 components in the front and 6.5 coaxial (yes, it can be made to fit with a 1/2 spacer ring and removing the stock speaker plate), and no amp. The JVC sound a million times better than my old Blaupunkt, even though they are both rated at 22rms output. There are ton of settings to the JVC and not too difficult to get set up. I'm really happy with it and the wiring kit that came with it made it a snap to install.

Easy enough to install, but has problems. The date and time won't stay set, I can't factory reset it for some reason to try and correct it, and it's developed the disconcerting habit of coming on EXTREMELY loud when I first start my truck in the morning, like deafening level, even if I've turned it way down before shutting my truck off. It's also becoming picky about switching between the FM and the Bluetooth function. It's makes the old girl sound better than ever, but it I've had nothing but problems and I'm outside the return window, so I'm stuck. Oh well, I guess it's better than the factory radio I yanked out but I may have to look for something to replace this one with.

Functionally, pretty good. Takes a noticeable moment to boot up. The biggest fault is the display, as noted by many other reviewers. Even at its brightest setting, it's nigh invisible in any kind of ambient light. Pairing a phone is a little tricky too, as there is a prompt on the unit to which you have to reply, and it's not displayed for very long.

Was looking for an upgrade to a Boss I'd purchased several years ago. Bluetooth was most critically needed feature due to new state laws. I know JVC quality is very good, and this unit does not disappoint. Very impressed with all of the features and the high quality build. The shallow chassis is a huge plus. I'd highly recommend this unit for ease of use, simple install, high feature content and attractive design.

The FM reception on my new JVC KD-X280BT digital media receiver is excellent. The display is clear and easy to read day or night. I am not using Bluetooth, USB, or an iPod so can't make any statements about how those work with the unit. Since this receiver does not have a CD or cassette player, it is more compact and much lighter than my old radio/cassette unit. I was able to secure it with only two screws. The first six FM preset stations are easy to set and access. The receiver also has good search features to find other FM stations besides the preset ones. My complaint with the unit is that FM preset stations 7-18 are more difficult to set and access. And other adjustment features such as balance, loudness, etc. are also accessible and adjustable but the process is somewhat complicated. Overall, though, I am very happy with the unit so far since I really am most interested in the FM reception and a few preset stations.

Outstanding tuning options, power and sound quality! The amount of tuning features you get at this price point are absolutely amazing. I've been into car audio since the mid 90's and still use gear from that time. The features and overall performance of this head unit are phenomenal. This went into our grocery getter van however it's big brother will be going into my old school truck build very soon. You can't beat what this unit offers at this price period.
Pros: Tuning options, sound quality, built in power. Ease of use.
Cons: Absolutely nothing

Great budget option
John Hale from Rockville, MD on 8/9/2023
2005 Toyota Matrix
Great budget option! This receiver made my existing speakers sound much much better. I installed speakers afterwards which really took it to the next level, but this was the bigger obvious improvement. The mic included does pretty well, calls are heard on the other end to a decent degree, though its not perfect. Lots of different EQ options to fit your likes and the overall UI is great and very intuitive. If you don't necessarily need a touch screen, this is a fantastic option. Fit perfect in my 2006 Toyota Matrix.
Pros: Ease of installation, sound, bluetooth, calls are clear enough, connectability, bonus storage
Cons: Style doesn't jive with many cars, the lighting/colors aren't my favorite

A nice simple unit that is easy to use, has plenty of audio controls and looks good as long you like red. Installed in my 1989 Silverado with red interior. This stereo fit my needs perfectly. It gave me the Bluetooth connectivity that I wanted along with RCA outputs to add a subwoofer. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of audio controls and customizations. You can set crossover levels, speaker sizes and locations as well as subwoofer levels and crossover frequency. It came with a microphone for hands free calling which I did install but have not used.

Nice budget radio
John from BHM AL on 5/25/2023

Another great Crutchfield transaction. After 15 years my Dual radio crapped out (I bought it here;$125 in 2008, had a nice BT with ext mic, played 1 CD, aux-in, all I needed and great sound). Today I wanted a cheap, good sounding radio. I have an external XM so I need an AUX input. I want a good quality Bluetooth for streaming and phone calls, I like an external mic to place where I want. Nice to save some $$ skipping the CD player, I can't remember the last time I played one in the car. This arrived quick. The dash mounting kit didn't seem to fit but I only spent 3 seconds trying(and didn't even look for the directions!) and then reused the one I got with the Dual 15 years ago. I'm sure if I called Crutchfield they would have figured it out. I soldered up the wiring harness per the directions and plugged it in. Once I put the dash panels back I was up and running. A few minutes to set it up and it sounds great for my spare car that my son will be using. Has the features I want and none I don't need (why do most come with remotes???). There are many equalizer settings so I'll adjust them in the coming weeks while driving and I'm sure this will be better sound than the Dual. It's also smaller and 1/2 the weight, not that it matters.
Pros: Sound Bluetooth/phone quality Price No frills

I have a 1999 f150 that had a factory radio/cd player, no Bluetooth and just wore out sound I replaced it with this JVC unit and wow! It's so nice to stream my Iheart radio and to talk hands free. The sound is good and it's easy to install with supplied installation items I opted for the pre-made wiring harness that made the whole installation about 45 minutes. The controls are super easy to figure out and I paired my Iphone in seconds. Over all I'm happy but we will see how long it last after all it was a $100 and the volume knob seems flimsy. Now would I recommend this JVC unit the answer is yes because of what you get for the price and of course how easy Crutchfield makes it with everything you need for installation .

I thought about this when I was installing this JVC stereo in my Jeep yesterday.. I've been purchasing stereo equipment from Crutchfield since the 1980's. Long before the internet when Crutchfield operated by phone and mail only and sent out catalogs. And while the business and equipment has changed quite a bit since then, the customer service, value, product quality has not. This transaction was no different. This JVC stereo is very simple yet very capable for replacing a 2005 factory stereo. We now have Bluetooth capability in a vehicle that was a few years too early for that technology. Thanks to Crutchfield the installation was very easy and clean. I keep coming back to Crutchfield for a reason..they rock!

Just installed this radio today. I had a technical issue with the wiring (ID10t code) that customer service hotline (thank you Mr. Cezar) saved me from myself. The install was easy enough and all the adapters and hardware Crutchfield sent fit as expected. I initially thought the wiring adapters were too short but after some rerouting of factory wires there was just enough lead for all to fit. Receiver looks good in the old chevy pickup and I am pleased. Thank you Crutchfield.

For the money if you do not want or need a back up camera or dvds, this is an amazing head unit. I like them so much I have 3 of them. All of the built in control feature are far beyond what I'd ever expect for a unit at this price. I've had a couple of these for years, one in my f-150, one in my 93' t-bird, now one in my low mile beater pontiac g5. Bluetooth works EVERYTIME! I have this hooked to an alpine mini amp with 6.5 componts, 6x9s, linked to another amp with 10" sub in the trunk, the head unit has built in x-overs for both, volume adjust, gain control, sub contrl, bass boost etc. this head unit controls EVERYTHING great, I can't even think of anything else to make it better. Well, a true 50x4 amp would be nice! :)
Pros: Listed in review
Cons: True 50c4 power would be nice, more RCA outs, only one set but I believe the next model up has more for 20-30$ more

Nice aftermarket radio with good options at a friendly price point. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $ and get the custom wiring ReadyHarness. Its plug and play when you do. Total time took about 20min for the job. I would buy again and recommend to anyone.

Absolutely wonderful stereo, what I like about it was how it connects to my phone as soon as I turn on the car. I was worried I would have to manually connect it everytime but that was not the case. Feels really sturdy and bang for your buck. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a nice upgrade stereo.
Pros: Easy to use Easy connection sound settings Multiple phone connection
Cons: None so far!

2002 Mazda Miata
Radio installed perfectly into my 2002 Miata along with the included Metra dash kit. This is an entry level model radio, so it doesn't have any of the features (such as color changing display, noise reduction settings, Alexa voice control, etc.) that the top of the line models have. However if you just want the basics of Bluetooth and AUX, this will suffice. Only reason I gave 4/5 stars is the radio defaults to the FM setting when I'd like it to be on BT Audio upon starting the car. I haven't found out a way to fix this or know if it's even possible . Other that, I'm very pleased with this unit! I would also recommend opting for the Crutchfield wire harness they offer. Made installation so much simpler and the wiring harness was very well done and wrapped in soft tape to help with rattles.
Pros: Price Functions Ease of installation
Cons: Can't choose a default source

I really like the simplicity of this unit. Tuner has great signal and display is vibrant. Sound is a good upgrade over a stock head unit. All this with free 2 day shipping and all things needed for the install. Put this in a 05 beetle with the monsoon system. This is my 5 star review. You wont regret this head unit.

JVC car radio working!
Donald from Henderson, TX on 1/19/2023
Hi folks, I received my JVC radio on Friday, 1/13/2023. I immediately called Crutchfield for tech support. The technician, Blue, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to answer all of my questions. I continued to work on the install. Did the amp bypass on Saturday. Wired the radio to the connectors on Sunday. Installed the radio into the car on Sunday. It worked perfectly. I couldn't have done with install without the help of the Crutchfield technician. I will buy from them again.
Pros: None
Cons: Easy install. Good sound. Connected easily to my iphone 8.

Great bang for the buck!
RB from Dublin, GA on 12/28/2022

Everything is great about this radio except was disappointed that the USB would not play music off iPhone while connected. My other JVC model will. No big deal, as it can connect 2 iPhones at once for answering calls and music, but It will play music off the first phone that connects to the system. Sounds great with the Sony speakers that replaced the factory's in 2006 Camry. Def a huge step over the factory radio with those speakers. Would highly recommend.
Pros: Price point Volume knob Steering wheel control ready
Cons: In USB mode with cord connected won't play music but charges phone

Was looking for a cheap radio with Bluetooth and this one works well. I like the layout of the buttons and the response of them as well. It is also easy to see during the day and not too bright at night. There are a lot of customization features to make the sound just right, which can get overwhelming. The mic that it came with isn't that great but does work. For the price I am very happy with it.
Pros: Easy to setup Bluetooth, Lots of customization features, compact
Cons: Mic has poor sound

Solid head unit with one minor gripe
Joseph from Wilmington, NC on 12/11/2022
1999 Chevrolet Express
PROS: It's a decent looking unit, & blends nicely with the dashboard. VERY extensive crossover & RCA output settings (full range, sub, etc). Provisions for speaker size & car type. Pretty slick for a sub-$100 media player! Has a volume knob! I like that vs. push-button volume. Bluetooth seems to work with current Androids with little to no hassle. CONS: No traditional "tone" controls. Instead, you get a choice of preset "EQ" curves - the typical 'Rock/Jazz/Hip Hop/Classical/etc'selections. It also offers "Easy EQ," & "Pro EQ," which is likely a parametric type (I've have not dug too deeply into these settings, as I found the "Jazz" preset fit my liking for most classic rock.) Why is all this functionality a "con?" Well, I prefer to drive with my eyes on the road. Even the most advanced controls are useless at 70mph, when all I want is a few extra dB of bass on the highway. Having a "bass/treble" setting would allow me to add a little boom without taking my eyes off the road by fumbling through multiple settings. That is really the only major fault, especially at this price point. Summary: A very solid head unit for people who just want bluetooth and/or RCA outputs to add amp(s). Aside from no traditional bass/treble settings, the controls are EXCELENT. Power output plentiful for most basic setups, and with the built-in crossover, you can run high-pass filters to your front/rear speakers & add a

I wanted a simple digital media player for my C5 Vette that required no cutting so it could always go back to the original radio and wanted to use the Bose speaker system it had. My aux interface using the original hatch cd player quit and I was not going to repair or buy 25 year old technology. These guys nailed it with all the correct components and I had them prewire the harness. A perfect easy install right out of the box. Thank You Dante and Crutchfield .
