Great sound quality. UI is a little disappointing. It would benefit from a dedicated home button to move between CarPlay and the settings in the deck. Startup is pretty slow. If I had to buy it again, I'd pick a different one. Wireless CarPlay is the bomb.
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: User interface

Great Unit

I replaced the original equipment cd/stereo in 2009 F150 that came without factory GPS or a screen. The JVC head fit perfectly and functions well. Very quick to load, connect to my phone, switch functions and screens and has good screen resolution. I like the vehicle readouts including engine performance, tire pressure, etc. The screen has the auto dim feature, that was a necessity. I was a little disappointed in the size of the screen, but they may all be that size, I didnt pay enough attention when purchasing to identify that. Super impressed with Crutchfield; the swap hung over my head for a few weeks before I decided to do the install. It turns out I had all of the parts I needed for a successful installation THE FIRST TIME without any issues. And this was my first time attempting a car radio installation.
Pros: Fast processor, clear and bright screen with good resolution, fast to connect to my phone, wireless connect to Apple Carplay and Android, super cool.
Cons: I little smaller of a screen than I was hoping for.

Really enjoying this unit! it took a while to get all of the components connected, but it's completely worth it. The upgraded look and the added functions are SO much better than my OEM unit. I'm a data-nerd, so also being able to connect the radio to my OBD port to see all the car data and gauges is really cool, plus this also upgraded the graphics and responses to my back up camera giving me dynamic turn markers. I kept my factory amp, but pairing this with my new Infinity Reference speakers has turned my sound system into a concert hall - the high are clearer, and the bass thumps from everywhere. Totally worth the time and energy!

This is a very nice deck, quick startup easy install. I was worried avout it being a resistive touchscreen display but it is very responsive and can use multi touch gestures. Its very good quality and the screen is vivid and clear. I do wish it wasnt so hard to add your photos onto it, im still trying to figure out how. Has a very user friendly interface. Like the built in EQ to further tune your tunes on the fly
Pros: Iphone mirroring, Carplay, quality, look, very responsive resistive touchscreen display, bluetooth compatibility, gesture control
Cons: Hard to add pictures and backrounds

Perfect fit and sound quality is amazing. Absolutely love the wireless Apple Car Play feature! Great documentation provided by JVC and Crutchfield. Why buy from anywhere else?
Pros: Sound quality is amazing and loving the Wireless Apple Car Play.
Cons: Lacks HD radio and HDMI inputs.

Michael from Colonia, NJ on 7/10/2022
2004 Cadillac Escalade
I love this radio and Crutchfield's support while installing it. It sounds great and has infinite sound adjustments to get just what you want. The interface is well planned out and easy to get around from tuner, CD player, Apple Play, etc. I mainly bought this one because it had wireless Apple Play, I didn't want to have to alway plug in the phone and so far it's been amazing. I was hoping to be able to use the stock navigation antenna and could not so I installed the provided antenna and put it underneath the dashboard so I didn't have to see the wires and it's working well. I installed this in a 2004 Cadillac Escalade and removed the stock 6 cd changer, tore out the internal parts, added a self adhesive felt and put it back in as a storage space. I even drilled a few holes on the left side and zip tied the two stereo's USB cables to it as shown in the picture. I also did not have to cut out anything in the vehicle, instructions said I had to.
Pros: Wireless Apple Play, touch screen, easy to use.
Cons: Cannot use stock navigation antenna from vehicle.

I find cds to sound better than bluetooth sometimes so I chose this unit. Also wanted 5 volt pre outs to jl amp. Made a difference over 4 volt. The screen displays you can choose are very nice. Plenty of sound shaping tools, audible differences in sound, easy to do. great equalizer, crossover settings are displayed in a moving graph chart, very cool to set. Great soundstage with depth. Extremely happy with this unit. It does alot more than advertised or on jvc site. Easy install. Thank you Crutchfield . Highly recommended
Pros: Sound shaping and adjusting is easy and fun. The more you use it, the more you find things not in manual or advertised. Clean, clear, deep and open sound. Different displays at the flick of a finger. I did alot of research on alot of stereo sites of all major brands and landed on this one. Can't imagine needing much more than this. Onscreen volume control is nice.
Cons: Position of mechanical volume control is tight in corner but workable, do have onscreen option though

Put this head unit in my 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD along with all the support plug and play wiring and it worked fantastically! I was able to keep my vehicle chime, backup cameras, steering wheel controls and it added more features like gauge display and vehicle parameters. The output on this head unit is awesome. I paired it with some Memphis interiors and a 4-channel amp and it sounded outstanding! The dash kit made everything look OEM. Only downfall is that is doesn't have a knob to turn up the volume but it has buttons, just a little adjustment to my liking but I'm 100% happy with it.
Pros: Retains vehicle most functions, powerful unit
Cons: No turning dial for volume just buttons

Don't miss this one - Read it to the end. Seriously. No HD Radio.
Tom from Virginia Beach, VA on 12/21/2020
2011 Ford Expedition EL
Warning to those who are considering this head unit. I've enjoyed it, mostly. It's a flagship model for JCV. You'll note all the high res codecs it accepts and marketing makes a big deal out of it. Audio quality is important, right. They have 5V pre-outs for better audio quality. Well, know what I missed? It doesn't have HD Radio. What? how can I miss that? I did. And I'm so disappointed about it. My 2011 Expedition came with HD Radio. It's 2020. Who would make a flagship head unit in 2020 and NOT provide HD Radio? I'll tell you who - JVC. Sure, I can stream the FM stations using an app. But I forget to since I'm....driving and the radio icon is easy enough to press. The sound fidelity is lacking. I get sad, forget about the app since I'm not use to listening to radio stations in an app. I use apps to play individual songs, not radio. Know who does have HD Radio in their comparable flagships? Everyone else. Like Pioneer. I have buyers remorse with this 960. No way I was going with the 1000 - screen too big for my truck. Seriously too big. It has HD Radio though. Why did JVC put it in that monstrosity and not the 960? I don't know either. But - now you know. If you don't care about this now, consider you might. Or not and enjoy it as everything else seems nice.
Pros: FLAC and WAV Hi-Res Audio Interface is easy enough to use. Great sound with all the options you could ever need for setting it up (speaker timing based on distance, equalizer, audio processing) Maestro Compatible - very important for maintaining steering wheel controls.
Cons: NO HD RADIO Price for not having HD Radio FM audio doesn't sound great - could be better. By a lot. Have to read the manual to understand customizations like manual, Auto 1, Auto 2 and what they mean to steering wheel integration. Trust me - you'll want to know how to use this thing.

Wireless carplay is rad, display is not bright in daylight
Brian from WAKEFIELD, MA on 11/19/2020
2015 Subaru Outback
I researched wireless airplay HU's for a while and took a chance on this JVC KW V960BW for my 2015 Outback. After a month I can say that I'm very satisfied with the unit. Install was a breeze, minor issue with the crutchfield ready harness- the backup cam would not work and through trial and error the tech had me swap out an unused yellow connector with one that was already plugged in to the harness-Fixed it. Then I had to open it all up again since I forgot to plug in the phone microphone lol. Wireless airplay works awesome and has been flawless on my iPhone XR, it's so nice to leave it in my coat pocket! I have a remote starter (aftermarket) and airplay connects automatically as I'm opening the driver's door. I thought it might work faster when I connect with the lightning cable but I really haven't noticed any performance difference. It doesn't seem to drain the phones battery much either. I do wish the display could get brighter in daylight, I maxed the settings and still could use more, but it's acceptable. Also not having an actual volume knob kind of stinks, or it would be nice if the gesture controls worked on the CarPlay screen, you can only use them when on a JVC screen. I'm still working on my speaker/sub upgrade but the sound so far is amazing. No regrets at all buying this thing.
Pros: Wireless carplay is amazing. Sound control and GUI are great.
Cons: Screen should be brighter in daylight. There seems to be too many home screens, takes a little playing to get the hang of it.

Love the audio flexibility & Android Auto
Mark from Wood-Ridge, NJ on 10/18/2020
2010 Hyundai Sonata
Purchased the V960BW and installation gear to make for a nice quarantine project. Unfortunately, I couldn't make heads or tails of the wiring harness on the Sony XAV-V600 I was replacing (installed by a big box retailer), so I took the loss to my wallet (and to my ego) and let them install this one. Of course, I don't fault Crutchfield for this at all. Back to the V960BW, I'm very satisfied with it. Switching to my RVS backup camera is fast and the image is clear enough. Audio sounds great through the otherwise stock setup in my 2010 Hyundai Sonata. I've had some Bluetooth drops from my Samsung phone, but I tend to think that's the fault of my phone. I like having LDAC but wonder if that's an issue. Phone integration otherwise is very good. Happy to have Android Auto here. It does drop sometimes when I go wireless, so I primarily use Auto with a wired connection. The screen can be very hard to read in sunlight, even after playing with the brightness and the feature JVC includes to adjust the brightness based on the angle of the unit as it's installed. That can be tough on some long drives in unfamiliar places. A big reason why I selected this model was to make use of the CD player, even though I end up ripping my CDs to FLAC files for my phone. One drawback with the CD player is that it doesn't support CD-TEXT, so discs that have the information embedded won't display track info on the display. Overall very happy.
Pros: Audio quality, screen size, CD player, Android Auto, Hi-Res wireless, FLAC playback
Cons: Screen glare in sunlight, confusing menus, no physical eject button for CDs
