Features

Overview: The Polk Atrium Sub100 delivers heavy-duty bass performance and all-weather durability with indoor level bass performance. Designed for outdoor use, the Sub100 passive subwoofer features a 10" downward firing subwoofer in a weatherproof sealed enclosure that's ideal for patios, walkways, pool areas, parks, and other outdoor venues. The Atrium Sub100 is a perfect match for the Polk Atrium Sat300 satellite speakers for a 3-way system.

Driver: The Sub100 features a 10" long-throw Dynamic Balance driver for deeper, cleaner bass while eliminating driver distortion. It's dual 2" voice-coils (8Ω each) include separate wire inputs for each, allowing the sub to be driven from a stereo amplifier (sold separately). The downward-firing sub can handle up to 200 watts of power and is protected by a weather-proof aluminum grill.

Enclosure: The 10" subwoofer driver is housed in a molded and sealed resin enclosure that's acoustically optimized and carries an IPX66 weather-proof rating, giving it year-round outdoor performance. The color-impregnated resin housing will never fade and is designed to naturally blend with the outdoor environment. It can be painted to match the surroundings and can even be used as a plant stand or pedestal table. The underside of the Sub100 features 4 screw-down keyhole slots and an eye-bolt security anchor for added stability and security.

Crossover: The Sub100 includes a built-in high performance low-pass crossover at 150 Hz, allowing the sub to be powered from a full-range amplifier (sold separately).

Junction Box: Included with the Sub100 is a waterproof junction box for connecting other outdoor speakers along with the subwoofer. The junction box has an IP68 waterproof rating and is approved for in-ground use.

Wiring: Connection to the subwoofer is done through a 39" 4-conductor set of wires that's rated for direct burial. Four waterproof wire-nuts are included for in-ground connections. The sub's bare ended wires are color coded and labeled:

  • White: L+
  • Green: L-
  • Red: R+
  • Black: R-

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
If connecting this to a devoted subwoofer amp, should I connect both of the negative wires coming off the sub to the negative output on the amp and both positive wires coming off the sub to the positive output on the amp?
tim  Sep 04, 2024

A
Greetings Tim. Thank you for your question. This Atrium sub was designed to work from a 2 channel stereo amp. If your dedicated amp has both left and right channels, you are good to connect both and use the 4 inputs on the sub. If your amp is just a mono amp, I do not see a good option to connect this subwoofer. If you already have the subwoofer, and purchased it from Crutchfield, give our tech support a call. Their number will be on the shipping confirmation email from us. Or you could run it past Polk Audio as well.

Wiring the Polk Audio Atrium Sub100's dual voice coils in parallel would show 4-ohms at your amplifier, Tim. If your subwoofer amplifier is 4-ohm stable and provides 200-watts RMS or less into a 4-ohm load, wiring in parallel is a great way to connect!

Q
is this amp 200 w per channel or 100 w per channel for a total of 200 watts?
william  May 06, 2024
1 answer
A
The Polk Audio Atrium Sub100 is rated for 200-watts total RMS, William. Since the subwoofer is a dual-coil design, this means each coil can handle 100-watts RMS. The Sub100 includes a built-in high performance low-pass crossover at 150 Hz, allowing the sub to be powered from a full-range amplifier (sold separately).

Q
How would I connect this to my Onkyo TX-NR575 7.2 channel receiver? Can it plug into one of the subwoofer pre-out ?
justin  Apr 27, 2019
1 answer
A
This subwoofer does not have an amp built into it which means it cannot plug directly into the subwoofer pre-out on your Onkyo. However, you could get an amp to power this subwoofer and connect that amp to the pre-out. Or you could use a couple channels on the receiver to power the subwoofer. I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your setup and goals to get a personal recommendation on how to run it My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
