About the Polk Audio DB 1042 DVC

Hard-hitting bass
Hard-hitting bass
Polk Audio's DB+ Series subwoofers combine high-tech materials and advanced design to give you smooth, powerful, hard-hitting bass without stressing your wallet. The DB 1042 DVC 10" subwoofer boasts a rigid polypropylene cone and durable Santoprene™ surround built to handle big power over the long run. Its low-profile design means you get serious performance from a sub that takes up less space.
Dual 4-ohm voice coils
This sub's dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire your system to draw max power from your mono amp or to safely hook up multiple subs. Match a DB+ sub to a suitable enclosure, and enjoy impressive bass punch rarely found in this price range. Polk Audio tests this sub rigorously for environmental effects caused by sun, moisture, and extreme temperature changes. They even certify this sub for marine applications, so they're a great choice for your boat too.

Features
Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, for wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.
Marine Certification: Polk DB+ series speakers are marine certified (IP56 rated), making them a good choice for boats in fresh water, convertibles, motorcycles, ATVs, and other applications where the speaker might get wet. Because they have coated steel baskets and the terminals are not covered, we do not recommend using them in salt water environments.
Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Sealed Box Volume: Polk recommends a sealed enclosure between 1.0 ft³ and 2.4 ft³.
Ported Box Volume: Polk recommends a ported enclosure between 1.25 ft³ and 1.75 ft³.

Seated in a slim sealed enclosure, hits hard and precise. Only issue I'm having is they no longer make the grill designed for it. No big deal, but would like to know if any other grills would fit and be tough enough for a truck. Other than that, these subs kick ass! Polk Audio kicks ass!
