Features
12" Mineral-Filled Polypropylene Woofer: The Polk Signature Elite ES12 powered sub houses a front-firing 12" mineral-filled polypropylene high-excursion. long-throw woofer with rubber surround for deep, accurate bass. The woofer incorporates Polk's patented Dynamic Balance technology and is Klippel optimized to provide clean, clear bass, better linearity, lower distortion, and greater durability.
300W Class D Amplifier: The Polk Signature Elite ES12 employs a 300 watt (continuous) DSP-optimized Class D amplifier for dynamic bass performance at any volume level. The high-resolution 32-bit floating point digital signal processing within the amplifier features group delay-minimizing filters and precision limiters that enable clearer bass with crisper transients every time you listen.
Power Port Technology: The Polk ES12 powered subwoofer utilizes patented Power Port Technology with two front-firing ports for deeper bass response and reduced port noise. The two Polk Power Ports minimize turbulence, reducing noise and distortion that mask midrange clarity. Their front-firing configuration means accurate bass no matter where you place your subwoofer
Acoustically Optimized Cabinet: The Signature Elite ES12 powered sub's strong, rigid, and acoustically inert curved enclosure reduces unwanted internal standing waves for less audible coloration. Its non-resonant MDF construction, with FEA-optimized internal bracing and thick baffle, ensures a more lifelike sound.
Controls: A variable volume control, 4th-order low pass filter, and 360-degree phase let you tune in optimum bass levels and ensure precise system blending. All controls are found on the rear-panel of the powered sub.
- Volume: You are able to adjust the volume (0-40) of the powered sub relative to the other speakers in the system.
- Low-Pass Filter: If your AV receiver doesn't have its own low-pass filter, you can adjust the sub's built-in 4th-order low-pass filter (50-160Hz) higher or lower as preferred. If are using the LFE input of the subwoofer and LFE output of your AV receiver, the subwoofer automatically switches to LFE mode. When the subwoofer is in LFE mode, you'll configure crossover settings within your AV receiver.
- 360-Degree Phase: 360-degree phase control allows you to select -135, -90, -45, 0, +45, +90, +135, or +180 degrees to perfect the subwoofers bass output. If you're using a single subwoofer, you can generally leave the phase at 0 degrees. However, you may need to change the phase depending on your speaker arrangement or if the bass sounds muddy and unclear.
Line-Level Inputs: The Polk ES12 powered subwoofer is outfitted with an unfiltered LFE input and filtered stereo RCA inputs (subwoofer cable not included).
- LFE Input (Unfiltered): The LFE input consists of an unfiltered mono-RCA jack (the LFE input bypasses the powered sub's variable low pass filter). Using the LFE input when connecting to an AV receiver or integrated amp with a filtered LFE output and built-in crossover control.
- Stereo RCA Input (Filtered): The Stereo input consists of a left & right RCA jack (both jacks are filtered). Use the Stereo input when connecting to a receiver or integrated amp that does not have an LFE output, but does provide a preamp output.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The included 6' AC power cord (IEC 3-prong) plugs into the back of the powered sub and into an AC wall outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).
Auto On/Off: The powered subwoofer will automatically turn on when an audio signal is received and off when there is no audio signal for about 20 minutes. You can also choose to manually turn the powered sub On or Off.
Placement: You may place the powered subwoofer anywhere in your room, but it will perform best when it's on the same side of the room as your system's front speakers. Also, placing the subwoofer near a wall or in a corner will increase its loudness.

This sub is, in a word "Fantastic"! The rich full Bass opened my system to something I personally never thought I would hear in my home. I added the ES12 to an RN800 Yamha Receiver, Polk R700 speakers and a Emoitva XPA GEN 3 Amp. The ES12 was the icing on the cake!!
