L400 center channel speaker
Ralph from Dallas Tx on 8/15/2023
As a 30 yr Polk fan I've collecting each series. I have 59 Polk speakers now including 6 Atium 8s 2 10in subs that's run by my Denon x150h. My bedrm has the x6400h receiver with 4 monitor 70 II and Csi6 2 505 subs. The other bedrm has the Heos 5.1 with S30 and 4 S20s and my livingrm runs the x8500h and complete set of Rti series 9s,7s,3s,Fxi6s, 2 Hts 12s and now the L400 which replaced the 706c. I thought the 706c was a fantastic speaker this L400 is much better. It's a large speaker about 40lbs with nice wood grain and dual ports. After all the other 2 way center speaker then go to 3 way as the 706c is I won't go back. The L400 is the best 3 way I've heard. I do suggest u give it time to beak in when I 1st got it the mid was a little tinny but after letting it run a few days now it's already clearing up so I know with more it will sound great. As u can tell I'm a complete SOUND UNITED HOME. I will highly recommend the Legand 400 over the other due to being 3 way and the wood grain the way it built. Thank u Polk for building so many complete sets of speakers for any budget from beginner to audio file listener from inside to outside speakers. Now I'm saving up for the other speakers in the Legand series to match the L400.
Pros: Well built 3 way center speaker Beautiful wood grain Best center speaker I've heard
Cons: Make sure u break it in Measure yr space where it goes it heavy and large.

Sounds great, when properly powered
Chad from Elizabethtown, KY on 2/8/2023
It's expensive, it's big, it's heavy, it's beautiful (to me). It sounds great.....when properly powered. An AVR ain't gonna cut it. 220watts at 4ohms didn't cut it (for me). I had to throw 600 watts behind it to make it sound full and rich.
Pros: It's big, it's heavy, it's beautiful (to me). It sounds great.....when properly powered.
Cons: Expensive / needs powerful amp / need 10" of space below your screen

Impressive Center Channel
James from Toms River, NJ on 1/5/2023
Started with Polk signature S35, then S30 elite, found R400 and couldn't believe the difference and still being a 2 channel center. After I purchased the Legend L600's, immediately purchased the legend L400 and like Aladdin......"a whole new world." Being a 3 channel design and just a completely different animal then any of my previous center channel purchases, I could not be happier. Really brings a much fuller experience to my front sound stage. A more livelier presence and fuller dialogue with anything it's chosen to play. There are better center channels out there so I've read and researched but this is by far the best center channel I've personally owned and experienced. For the money it costs, it's overall value and engineering exceeds it. It is also a beautifully designed cabinet and aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.
Pros: A great value for it's amazing playback capabilities and looks
Cons: Expensive but you get what you pay for

Huge but amazing
John A from Eagle, ID on 8/26/2022
I wanted to give this speaker 4 stars, but it's too good not to give it 5. The reason I wanted to knock it down to 4-Star is the massive size, especially the height. It's taken a lot of work to try to get this tall center speaker placed below my TV and angled up toward my ears without having my TV mounted up too high. But at the end of the day it's one the best center speakers out there.
Pros: Tons of detail, revealing, very clear dialogue, big presence, excellent companion to Polk R700 towers
Cons: 4 ohm, huge, tall, if I don't angle it up at my ears dialogue and treble falls off a lot

Flagship Center Channel Status ... no question!!
Edward from Rapid City, SD on 6/24/2022
Bottom line up front: WOW! Fit/Finish is quality throughout, great frequency range, clarity in dialog and music is fantastic. This center channel is further testament that Scott Orth and the team at Polk Audio know exactly what they're doing. The perfect complement to rest of my Legend front end, L800 L/R and L100 surrounds in a 7.2.4 set-up. Dialog is crystal clear and I find the center to be perfect for both music and movies. I do have a 2-channel config on my Denon X4700H, but I'm finding a lot more music is available in Spacial or Dolby multi-channel these days which necessitates having a good center. The Center Channel speaker being the most important speaker you have in a multichannel system for movies, this speaker delivers without exception to everything I've played ... from Pink Floyd / Steely Dan to Blade Runner 2049 and other Hans Zimmer scores, the Legend series are "end-game" status speakers, heirloom quality that my son and grand children will enjoy long after I'm gone. If you're thinking of a good center, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Legend L400 ... 3-way is the way to go for your center!! Highly recommended to family and friends!!
Pros: Dialog and music clarity, able to handle anything I've played with it, fit & finish is 1st rate ...
Cons: This beast is heavy, but worth every pound!!

MONSTER!!!
eric from Concord, CA on 3/2/2022
It's a beautiful looking and sounding Monster, this center channel now completes the long awaited endeavor of redoing my A/V system for the twenty fourth time in my on going pursuit of visual and audible experience since the conception of Beta and VHS. This completes the audio side of a three month search and destroy mission (all L's mind ya except the R900's) i still have my Axiom Q8's and recently received a pair of refurbed pile drivers The Yamaha NS-SW1000's. This L400 is a great center, Big oh yes! I have had it for about two weeks and just now tested it on my Yammy A-S2200 and it throws and flows like it's already broke in, so it gets better?, I'll bridge it this weekend. All the reviews, and all the manufactures, all the reading and was not nor needed to go to the yellow tag store to hear them(i have had some Polks in the past and was pleased with them. Polk kept polking at me. L200 Refurbs came as though brand new, R900 for fun, L100 just because the 2's missed their Lil' brothers and the L400 because it's a Monster. Polk for us Folks I will post pics when the 100's are installed for their review (i'd dig to have their L series towers, but i have no room in my lil' ol' cabin. 4 stars? well because they aint broken in yet.
Pros: Loud, Clear, Very Loud,
Cons: Humongous

Polk Audio Legend L400
Crutchfield customer from Bonaire, GA on 6/21/2021
The Polk Legend series is the real deal. I took a chance on buying them without listening first. I was not disappointed. The L800 and L400 replace my Polk LSI 25s and Polk LSI-C. These speakers are running off a Sunfire Cinema Signature Grand amplifier. There is a night and day difference between the dialog and clarity of the L400 and the LSI-C. It's simply a more realistic sound stage that is wide and transparent. The L400, together with the L800s envelop you as if you were there. Highly recommended! Weighing in at 47 pounds, this beast is 2/3 larger than the LSI-C.

The big winner - Polk Audio Legend L400 center
razelderf from Roseburg, OR on 1/23/2021
I upgraded my Epson projector home theater setup from a cheap Yamaha receiver, Polk CSI3 center, RTI4 surrounds, and RTI6 fronts to a Marantz SR8012 receiver, Polk Audio Legend L200 fronts, Polk Audio Legend L100 surrounds, and the big winner - Polk Audio Legend L400 center. My system sounds completely different in all good ways. The dialog clarity is not just noticeable it's a huge improvement. Old system sounded strained, new system seems to has endless range. Even though it was a major expense, no regrets!

Amazing center channel
Michael from Orlando, FL on 9/10/2020
This center channel replaces the Polk LSiM 704c in my home theater. By comparison, I have to say that it is significantly better in every way. More clarity, greater accurancy and range, amazing detail, effortless dynamics, etc. Really just super impressed with this center speaker! The new pinnacle tweeter really is something special. Definitely the best I've ever heard.
Pros: Clarity, effortless power and dynamics, amazingly lifelike
Cons: Cost

Great center channel
Gary from Suffolk, VA on 12/15/2019
I am so pleased with this purchase. It replaced Polk's CSIA6. I had just purchased the Polk Legend L800's and debated trading up to this center. The fact that the tweeters match the L800s is essential to me. They are the single most appealing feature of the new Legend series. From my attached pic you can see I have a large two story room with the center high over my TV flanked by SVS down firing dolby atmos height speakers. The sound generated in combination with the SDA presence of the L800's using Auro-3D for music is stunning. It presents a wall of sound that washes over you. Being a 4ohm single channel speaker presented a challenge as I was driving all my previous 7.2.2 system with a Marantz 8012. So mixing 4 and 8 ohm speakers was not an option. Crutchfield tech support offered a good solution which I doubled checked with Polk. I bought a separate Niles 2100 external amp and used each channel to drive the L400 bi amped producing 220w for each pole which presented 4 ohms each back to the amp. We Y connected preout from the Marantz to main ins on the Niles. It works great for all forms of music and of course uhd movies. It was fun putting this together and the result is stunning. Buy it!
Pros: Got to be tweeters matching the Polk L800 towers
Cons: 4 ohm presented a challenge which was fun to solve.
