Booming speakers

These are some really nice speakers for use in a stereo configuration. I can listen to my albums from the 70s and beyond again. The sound is nice is crisp with a prefect amount of bass.

Catch em on sale

Niiiiiiiice speaker. Have them as a front "presence" speaker on my Yamaha rx-a4a and they do a fantastic job.

Polk Audio Monitor XT70

I managed to hear these speakers and they do sound awesome. I do have to take issue with some reviewers talking about these being "great for budget speakers", when a LOT of people are forced to choose between rent and groceries. At roughly $700 for a pair of speakers on sale, they damned well should sound awesome, do the dishes, mow the yard, whatever. But for those who can spend the apparently modest sum of $700 for a pair of "budget speakers", then I suppose these make a great choice.

Great for value

For the value, a great addition to your home theater setup. These will not replace a subwoofer by any means, but you will hear dialog and music so much more clearly.

Great budget option

Using these speakers in 5.1 setup where I have XT30 Center and XT20s surround and Klipsch sub with RX50 Onkyo. They sound great! Love the detail of the sound as is. Waiting for speakers to break in before doing Dirac calibration.

These completed my upgrade for my home entertainment center. Great bass and it brought my new receiver to life. For the price point it is an excellent choice.

massive upgrade

I replaced an old pair of polk RT12 speakers with these guys. I didn't expect much difference. I was very wrong! The imaging is so superior to the old polks. And bass response is excellent, too. Well worth the money! My old Yamaha DTS receiver is shining bright!

10/10 for home theater 8.5/10 for music.

8.5 for music 10 for home theater Running off the inexpensive Sony STRDH190 more power may help these but I'll never know, don't get me wrong these have nice crisp and they are loud. They appear to render home entertainment better than music, have a dedicated sub on the way to solve that.

Incredible detail at all volume levels. These speakers are exactly what I wanted. My Crutchfield advisor Ivy is very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. In these days of mini speakers which have excellent sound, NOTHING compares with large, high quality speakers. I'm rediscovering my music!

THUNDEROUS BASS

Thunderous BASS along with clear mids and treble. I'm just breaking them in now but at -20 on my Yamaha RS700 receiver Bad Seamstress Blues about blows me out of my living room. Already played Scorpion Blackout and Iron Maiden Piece of Mind and they all sounded great. If your into loud hard rock and hair metal these XT 70 do a very good job.

New speakers for old amplifier.

Great upgrade to vintage Harmon-Kardon PM640 integrated amplifier with Dacmagic 100 and iPad mini. Previous speakers consisted of Bose Acoustimass 5 system. What a difference! between the XT70s and Bose. The Polks provide much cleaner sound, including incredible bass and do not require nearly the same power. On a related note, the Polks came in formidable packaging and were in perfect condition when they arrived via UPS.

Excellent sound for the price

Very happy with these so far. Much better bass response versus my bookshelf speakers. Using them as front speakers in a 4 speaker audio setup powered by a 100 watt Onkyo receiver
