Excellent as the side surround in my all-Polk 7.1 system. Speakers were ordered before framing began on our basement media room, great care was taken in insure that the speakers would be installed the same distance from the tv and that the wall cavity was properly sealed. Cutouts were made before the wall was painted. After the wall was painted, installation was a breeze. Speaker grills were left unpainted.

Great speakers! Affordable and high quality sound. Be sure to have enough room for the clips to get behind the wall and rotate so they can secure properly. Any studs will need to be far enough away from the opening so that they do not interfere with the rotation of the clips. I have a hundred year old house so it has lathe and plaster walls that are 1 inch thick. There is plenty of adjustability in the design of these speaker clips to get behind that wall and hold them tightly to the wall. These are well designed wall speakers that are great value for the dollar!

4.5 stars, I'll round to 5. The half star demerit is for the friction grill and not magnetic. That's a pain - especially if you paint the trim and grills, go to put the grills back on, and scratch your paint job. The second set coming will have a different order of operations :) Enough of that - replaced some on walls with these for front and rear left and right channels for mostly movies and some ps5 gaming. Find your studs and install is a breeze between them. Great sound and value. Polk timbre matching their products is clutch - running these as well as an xt35 wall mounted center (studs don't allow for the tv that is centered to have the speaker centered). If you're researching and landed here, give 'em a go.

Clean, Well-Defined Sound

I bought 4 of these speakers to replace lower quality ones installed in our home. The size is the same so installation was very easy. Sound is clearly better. High frequencies are bright and there is enough bass so I don't feel the need for a subwoofer. Excellent sound for the money.

I am using these for rear speakers in a small 5.1 system, they do the job well. The crossover network appears to be a better system than some more expensive competitors. I am mounting these speakers in custom wood enclosures with about 1.5 cubic foot volume and internal damping.

Great Value - Easy Install

We purchased these speaker to install in our master bathroom. We connected them to Pioneer A/V Receiver - Zone # 2. After watching the installation video I decided I could attempt myself. I had the minimum hand tools and installed the pair in about an hour. The receiver was located in a closet sharing a wall with the master bathroom which made the install easier! Very pleased with the final product! Thanks!

Awesome in-wall Speakers

These are the best in-wall speakers I've ever had. It completed my dream of having an all house speaker system, very easy to set-up, easy to install and it has excellent sound quality. From a $ standpoint too, these speakers beat its competitors by a huge margin, you get the maximum bank for you buck if you buy these. The look and feel is also extremely modern and slick, I know you would say like you put a grill on the speaker, what does it matter, but still imagine holding an iPhone 3 vs iPhone 12 Pro Max in your hand, you can clearly tell the difference in the premium feel of iPhone 12. Same is the case with these speakers. I was able to easily pair this up with a bluetooth amplifier and it just turned out great.

Perfect for my rear surround in-wall installation. Painting was easy to match the wall cover. Paint guards supplied with the speakers make it a breeze. Instructions recommend spraying the grilles, but I didn't have a spray gun. So I brushed them and then used compressed air to blow the tiny holes clean...worked perfectly.

I can't say enough about these speakers. I hooked them up to a Sonos amp and they sound tremendous. I wasn't expecting them to sound this good because of the price. I was really surprised. The highs are crystal clear. I am now a big Polk Audio fan.

Great for surrounds

I had no difficulty installing these speakers in the wall of our den. Using the template allowed the cutout to be just the right size so the speaker fit without too much wiggle. I am using these as side surround speakers. They are installed at about 12" off the floor (because one had to be under a staircase) and both walls have fiberglass insulation. The sound quality is good, but I don't feel they have outstanding bass. I think I'm going to replace these with the RC85i and move these to the rear high surround. I believe this will produce better surround. I do feel these are an outstanding speaker for the price. They sound well with my main speakers that were about 10 times the price. I don't know how they would perform as mains, but work very well for surrounds.

Works great, good sound easy to install. My dry wall wall cracked and destroyed by original installer. But just use 2 three inch strips of 1/2 plywood on either side and speaker will be secure.

I bought these speakers to replace 2 that were located on my outside patio in the ceiling which were showing their age due to the outside conditions.. The existing cut out was exactly the same as needed for the Polk's and installation was a breeze. The sound is good and I will be ordering another pair soon to replace the other 2 speakers. These are rated to handle the non direct damp location.

Very good for the money. However if you have a critical ear these lack a full spectrum sound. The highs are sharp and lows are muddy. NO midrange at all. We moving and I used these to replace B&Ws so I can take them with me ...the comparison is not that fair.

Great surrounds

This was a replacement from my previous RC65i I purchased over 10yrs ago. Yes, these speakers has been around for a very long time! The rubber surround of the woofers were coming apart. The previous warranty was 5yrs. These speakers give great sound for my 7.1 surround system. I have the Polk TSi300 Mains, CS20 center, RC65i side surrounds, RC60i for the rear surrounds and Klipsch sub. These speakers has decent bass. I was going to get the RC85i but decided to keep the surrounds matched at 6.5" speakers. Overall I've been satisfied with these speakers but it gets a 4 star due both rubber surrounds coming apart. These now come with a lifetime warranty!

Pretty easy to install and sounds good for the room I put them in. Now to get the right tuner to link my bathroom and bed room speakers for movies and music (respectively). Directions are straight forward and easy to follow. I would recommend the initial cut to be just inside the template lines and clean out from there for a snug fit. Would buy another set if needed as the price was easily within my price range.

We had a pair of Boston Acoustic speakers mounted in our wall of our home for 23 years, they finally needed replaces. The Polk speakers were the closest fit. The ease of installation and the sound quality were all as promised.

Great sounding speakers and easy to install

I installed these in walls of our master bedroom as part of the whole house sound install, we have 2x4 walls which allowed enough room for installation with some fiberglass insulation for backing as recommended. I have these connected through a 25 year old Harmon Kardon 35 and distributed to the bedroom by way of passive distribution panel and into an impedance matching volume control knob. The longest part of the install was running the cabling and cutting the holes for the speaker and volume knob. These speakers are a great value and sound great, I'm going to continue placing them around the house and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good sounding affordable sound. They do have a pretty good dynamic range with a nice warm bottom sounding end and a not too overly tight high end where it sounds way to tiny. You will want to place insulation in the wall cavity where the speakers are installed so that room where the back of the speaker comes up to doesn't receive to much of that dead sound and vibration and so that the sound doesn't get absorbed in the walls.

RC65i Wall mount speakers

I have had these speakers for my 7.2 system in my shop for years. I have 4 RC65i flush mount speakers used for surround and I love them. Now I bought the same speakers through Crutchfield for my wife's new office space and it was a no brainer. They are great and the sound and bass make you feel like your right there whether it be music or movies.
Pros: Great speaker! More than I hoped for and the sound is lifelike. Handles a great deal of power and no bad effects.

I was looking for new in wall speakers to replace some old infinities in a rear surround sound position. In that position, these are a great sound for the money. I installed in the existing sheet rock openings and it was truly a breeze. 5 minutes and done. Another shout out to the tremendous team at Crutchfield who are always genuine in their desire to help!

These speakers look great and sound excellent. They have nice weight and size but are thin enough to install in any wall. I have them connected to an old receiver that will be replaced soon but even still the sound is rich and full.

Just got these installed about 2 weeks ago and they're sweet! I don't claim to be an expert but all of the reviews related to these are spot on. They sound great, bass is good, highs are also good. Using them with 2 ceiling mounted 8 inch polks...the kitchen and family room are rocking!

Quality Product and Instructions

Absolutely no complaints from order to installation to tech support phone call. Shipping time was 2 days. The template and instructions for cutting the holes was right on. The screw-in clips to lock the speaker in the wall is well designed and simple to install. Phone call to ask about using insulation behind the speakers to improve sound was answered in a couple of rings. The tech support rep was knowledgeable and helpful. Best of all, the sound is better than I expected.
Pros: The price (no shipping charge for ground) was highly competitive.
Cons: No negatives at all from start to finish.

Easy to install, sound fantastic

Decided to replace my front speakers and go with an in-wall option for a cleaner look. These arrived in just a couple of days after ordering and only took about 45 minutes to an hour to install. I have a small living room, 12x14, and these sound fantastic with the output from my little Onkyo TX-NR414. The included template for cutting the holes made it very simple. I plan to purchase in-ceiling speakers next for the rear and will look at a Polk option when the time comes. Additional note: these made the wife extremely happy since she doesn't have to see or be bothered with wires and shelf speakers anymore.

Sweet speakers

Really great speakers! I use them as my front surround speakers and they are wonderful. I use a Sony A/V reciever to power them. A little nervous first cutting into the drywall, but template was spot on. Just make sure you have everything level and away from the studs before you start cutting!.
Pros: Easy install, great sound. Very pleased. I like the ability to adjust the tweeters.
Cons: Difficult to paint the grille. I ended up just painting the frame of the speaker grille to match the wall color--it looks fine. You really have to thin down the paint a LOT to keep it from clogging the grille holes--couldn't get it to work.

Awesome Speakers especially for the price! I bought this along with the RC 55, 85, and 265RT Center Channel Speaker in wall speakers for my 7.1 system and it sounds amazing! I really did some shopping around and could not see myself spending hundreds of dollars per front, back and side speakers. So I went with the Polk speakers and I couldn't be happier. My suggestion however would be to get a great receiver to get the maximum sound you are looking for. I lucked out as i have a friend who upgraded to an 11.2 system and sold me his $1500 Pioneer receiver for $400! God is Good and my system sounds Great! The installation was easy as i had my room pre-wired for a 7.1 system so all i had to do was cut out the holes in the walls and install. Once installed I painted the grill as the instructions said with spray paint and my Theater Room looks amazing! I'm not one to pay somebody to do what I can do myself and I'm no professional but the installation was a breeze and my room looks professional grade! Also, they sent me the Polk PSW111 for free with my purchase and OMG! My room is booming! Thanks Crutchfield! My wife told me to upgrade to 7.1 and I'm so glad she did! I'm one Happy Customer!

Excellent value

Bought these to be L/R front speakers in my family room. A Denon 1921 receiver drives the home theater system. I'm a movie fan but I also love country rock and classic rock. I have been impressed with the ability of these speakers to deliver distortion-free sound. A Crutchfield rep helped me together the whole system. I could not be happier. They were a cakewalk to install. In my experience, it has been very rare to find electronic components that live up to the hype. These speakers EXCEEDED my expectation. Even at 80% volume (about 76 watts) there is no distortion, just clean sound up and down the spectrum. Now, I do have a subwoofer which balances out the low frequencies. I would recommend these to anyone for a home theater.

I was suspect that these speakers couldn't drive solid sound, but I was wrong. Very clear, slightly deep sound reverberates from them. Very easy install. You do NOT have to be a drywall specialist to put them in.

great surrounds

My install was a breeze since i was replacing existing in-walls. had to cut the opening a bit larger,but these would be easy installs either way. I really didn't think a change in surrounds would make such an improvement. Mind you i was coming from some cheap RS 5.25 round two ways. These are a great compliment with my L,C,Rs. Great quality and sound for the price. Very happy and would def recommend. Cant believe what I have been missing back there. Even my ' all speakers are the same' wife noticed the change,no lie. I would recommend insulation in the wall cavity around them .

Great for the Money. be aware of mounting

Sounds great for the money. be aware that the mounting tabs only rotate to the sides and not to the top. I discovered a bonus extra stud in the wall where one did not belong and i ended up right next to it. it would have been very handy if the tabs could have positioned up and down and not just to the side. a large paddle bit and some boring-out later... i was back in business with horizontal-only mounts. also, the mounting tabs and tab guide sleeves are plastic-only and not incredibly durable through multiple mountings. while the above sounds negative, i still completely recommend these. they sound great, the other side which did not have any surprise obstructions mounted quickly and flawlessly and they are painted to blend in to the wall color which is a big win with my wife.
Pros: great sound, decent build, paintable bezel and screen looks great.
Cons: more flexible and durable mounting options would be appreciated

I bought Polk Audio RC65i speakers to replace old in -ceiling BIC America ones. Installation took 20 minutes (very simple). The quality of the sound is what I expected (good). Together with my Outlaw LFM-1 Compact subwoofer and Onkyo TX8555 receiver I have a very good 2.1 stereo system. The speakers are good quality and great value. I did not want to go with larger and more expensive speakers because I wanted to use existing ceiling cuts from the old speakers.

Well made. high quality. Good design for easy installation. I am using them for TV speakers in stereo with a 5.1 receiver. High and mid tone is very nice. Fills the room. Needs a sub woofer if you want the best sound. Does not have the bass performance of a book shelf speaker. Worth the money.

I purchased these Polk 107RC65I in-wall speakers for the rear surround sound for my Yamaha receiver. These speakers sound great. I also like the easy way they install in the wall. There is no messy wires strung along the walls they are in the walls. I would recommend these speakers to anyone that need speakers. I also purchased the Polk 107CSR center channel speaker a day later and replaced my floor speakers with Polk R150 bookshelf speakers. Thanks Crutchfields for having a good line of products for a reasonable price.

This is the second set I have purchased from Crutchfield. to replace existing in-wall speakers. As with the first set, the difference between those I replaced and these is phenomenal - no contest. The sound is fantastic. These are the best speakers you will find for under $200.00 I am very satisfied. . Moreover, Crutchfield's service and follow-up distinguishes them among their competition.

A great set of in wall speakers for the price. We have a smallish living room but these do an excellent job of filing the space nicely with good sound. I do not notice the bass deficit others mention but we have a powered sub so...The installation was simple enough but I would have appreciated a hardi-back template that I could level. Really, quite nice.

Purchased the RC-85 as my front speakers and the RC-65 as the rear surround. Very happy with the sound quality and performance. They sound great for being a small speaker. Were a breeze to install. If you like a lot of bass, pair them up with a good sub...but this should be obvious given their size and purpose.

I purchased these speakers a few weeks ago and just finished installing them in my wall. After putting a little Nick Warren in the CD player, I can honestly say that the sound is crisp, the highs are clear, and the lows are tight at any volume! These speakers are absolutely sick! I love them, and I'm certain that my neighbors are going to hate me!!! Installation Tip: You have to pack some R25 or similar insulation around these speakers inside the wall. This dramatically improves the sound quality of any in-wall speaker, especially these.

Easy Install-Average Performance

Right out of the box and into the wall, these speakers are a fairly easy install. Traced the supplied template, cut the hole, fished the cable, hooked up the speakers and into the wall they went!!! No kit required!!! Instructions for install recommend cutting inside of the lines for the cut out, this did result in the need to hone the edges to get the speakers in the wall. The speakers do sound decent---I would recommend insulation above and below the speaker for interior walls(most ext. walls will have insulation) for better base response.

Great Surround Speakers

I ordered 2 pairs for my surround speakers in my 7.1 set up. I was impressed in how user friendly the speakers were. I installed them myself and installation was a breeze. The speakers include a template and detailed instructions. I literally traced the template, cut the dry wall, packed the cavity with some insulation, and dropped the speakers in, 1-2-3. The midrange and treble sound great. I will say low bass response is pretty weak but that is typical from an in-wall speaker. Besides, these are only my surrounds so my Polk sub and front tower speakers provide low bass. Not only do they sound great, but they give your room a clean, uncluttered look most bulky surround speakers don't offer.
