Good connections

The Kappa One 6 can accept low- or speaker-level inputs so it'll work in almost any system — and Infinity includes RCA-to-speaker wire adapters so you'll make the right connections. They also include an electrical anti-rotational locking (E.A.R.L.) ground terminal, which provides a more conductive and secure ground connection for the amplifier. A wired remote lets you control your bass level from the front seat.

Features

Power Output: The Infinity Kappa One 6 mono amplifier delivers 380 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, and 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. The amp's total peak power is 1500 watts.

Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload, DC voltage on the audio output, over- or under-voltage (<9V or >16V), and short circuits. The LED on the back panel of the amp glows red if the amp goes into protection mode.

Remote Level Control: The Kappa One 6 comes with a rotary Remote Level Control module that lets you control the bass output from a convenient location in the vehicle. A 16.5-foot cable is included.

Controls

Gain: The Kappa One 6's rotary gain control let you match the amp's input sensitivity to the output of the source unit. The maximum input sensitivity of the amplifier 0.2V for a line-level input, and 2V for speaker-level input. The maximum signal level is 20V for both line and speaker level inputs. A small screwdriver (not included) is required to set the gain.

Input Level: The Input Level switch should be set to match the type of input signal connected to the amplifier. If using line-level connections, select LO. If using speaker-level inputs, select Hi1 or Hi2. Hi2 contains a special circuit designed to fool a factory audio system to detect a speaker connected to its output, and should be used only if Hi1 doesn't work.

Low Pass Filter: The amp features a non-defeatable low pass filter with a cutoff frequency between 32Hz and 320Hz. The crossover has a 12dB per octave slope. A small screwdriver is required to adjust the frequency.

Dynamic Bass Optimizer (DBO): The amplifier's DBO circuit features a 0-12dB bass boost. In addition, a subsonic filter helps prevent the amplifier from wasting power by eliminating ultra-low frequencies you can't hear. You can adjust the filter between 10Hz and 80Hz. A small screwdriver is required to adjust the bass boost and subsonic frequency controls.

Phase: You can set the subwoofer phase at 0° or 180°. While playing music with lots of bass, slide the phase switch back and forth. Choose the setting that provides more bass. If there is little difference, leave the switch at 0°.

Auto Turn-on: If your stereo does not have a "Remote Out" wire, you can set the amplifier to automatically turn on when it detects a speaker level signal on the input. If you are connecting a remote turn-on lead, the switch should be left in the "off" position.

Connections

Terminals: The Infinity Kappa One 6 uses set screw terminals for the +12V power, ground, turn-on (remote) lead, and speaker outputs. The terminals are located under a magnetic cover, which can easily be pried off to access the screw heads. The screws can be tightened/loosened with a Phillips-head screwdriver (not provided).

Power/Ground: The +12V Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge wire. It is recommended that you use a minimum of 4 AWG power wire to the battery, with an in-line 100A fuse installed no more than 18" from the battery terminal. A 4 AWG ground wire (minimum) is also recommended, and attached to a metal area close to the amplifier.

E.A.R.L. Terminal: An Electrical Anti-Rotational Locking (E.A.R.L.) terminal is provided for the ground wire. The terminal is designed for 4 AWG ground wire, and requires a large crimping tool to secure the wire. The terminal includes 3 screws to attach the terminal to your vehicle's metal chassis.

Remote Turn-On: The Remote screw terminal will accept up to 8 AWG wire. Typically, an 18 AWG turn-on lead is included in an amplifier wiring kit.

Power/Ground Adapter: If you wish to use power and ground wire larger than 4 AWG, you can use the included plug-in adapter. The adapter has posts that insert into the +12V, REM, and GND terminals and offers 1/0 AWG power and ground terminals. An 18 AWG screw terminal for the remote turn-on wire is also provided.

Speaker Outputs: The amp features screw terminals for connecting two subwoofers. The terminals are wired internally in parallel. The amplifier's minimum speaker impedance is 2 ohms.

Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with a pair of RCA inputs for connecting a stereo RCA patch cable from the head unit to the amp.

Speaker-Level Input: The amp includes two speaker-level adapters (bare wire-to-RCA) for connecting the amp to a factory radio or aftermarket head unit. You should insert the left and right speaker wires from the head unit into the adapters and plug the adapters into amp's RCA inputs.

Remote Level Control: An RJ-25 modular "phone" jack is provided for connecting the Remote Level Control cable.

Customer Q&A

Q
This amp has two outputs? What is the rms per channel? Is it what is stated? 380 @4ohm,600 @2ohm? I don't understand a mono amp with two outputs.
[ BEN  Mar 14, 2023 ]

A
Greetings Ben, and thank you for your question. It is a one channel amp. The two outputs are for connecting two sub boxes instead of doubling up on the speaker wires to just the one output. A lot of single channel (mono) amps today have two output connections. If you use both outputs to two subs, the power is cut in half out each. Just like a parallel, or series wire job to two subs would be.

Q
Do the Infinity Kappa One 600 Mono amp and Infinity Kappa 4 amps have lighted faces, meaning, does the logo light up when powered?

The Kappa One 6 does not it has a polished chrome finish and it appears the Kappa 4 has the same.

Q
Would this go good with a cp212 basswedge or the cp112?

The Infinity Kappa One would be a great solution for use with either of the JL Audio subwoofers you are interested in. Please chat with an Advisor online or by phone 1-800-324-9695, we will be happy to answer any additional questions.

The amp is decent, but a sale on the infinity kappa one k was recently up that had them basically at the same price. Actually caused buyers remorse for me.
[ ERIC  Jul 17, 2020 ]
A
Yes for the CP212 and if you got the 112 you'd want to get (2).
