About the JBL BassPro Go

Dominic DeVito

Two speakers in one

JBL's BassPro Go combines the full low-end performance of a compact powered subwoofer for your car with the convenience and party-starting potential of a mighty portable Bluetooth speaker. You can enjoy some thump in your car on your way to the beach, cookout, or park, then detach the BassPro Go when you arrive and take your tunes with you. It's water-resistant and built to withstand the trials of your vehicle's cargo area, so you can take it on road trips just about anywhere with confidence.

Mounts in your car

The BassPro Go includes a vehicle mounting bracket, wiring harness, and hardware — just find a convenient spot in your cargo area or trunk where you can get to it easily when it's time to disconnect. The BassPro Go locks in solidly to the mounting bracket while you're traveling, and it offers high-level inputs for connecting to your car audio system.

Its built-in 100-watt RMS amplifier gives this speaker plenty of power to pump out delicious low end down to 40 Hz. The Bluetooth automatically turns off while the BassPro Go's connected to the wiring harness, so it'll act like a sub for whatever's playing over your car's system. You can also employ it as a full-range speaker in your car to add more volume to your ride. And the speaker's rechargeable battery fuels up as you drive — you can get up to 8 hours of Bluetooth playback on a full charge.

Sound that packs a punch

The BassPro Go employs a 4-1/2" active subwoofer and a pair of 3/4" tweeters to provide a full range of sound, plus a pair of passive radiators to reinforce the bass. It offers a selectable low-pass filter (in subwoofer mode) and bass boost. The BassPro Go includes a remote bass control and cable so you can tweak the low end from the driver's seat. Press the Connect button on two BassPro Go speakers to pair them for spacious, stereo sound. You can even pair up to three devices (phone, tablet, or laptop) simultaneously with the BassPro Go. You and your friends can take turns playing tunes through the speaker for an awesome co-DJ'd playlist.

Convenient features

The BassPro Go's built-in handle lets you move it from spot to spot without breaking a sweat. A separate USB charging output lets you refresh your mobile device's battery using your existing charging cable. And its IPX5 rating means it'll handle most unfortunate aquatic encounters with aplomb. You can clean it up pretty easily, too.

Q
Can the Bass Pro Go play as a stand alone bluetooth speaker full range in docking station? Do not want to connect existing stereo in vehicle to speaker. Or does speaker only work as a sub in docking station?
chip swartz  Jul 01, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Chip, and thank you for your question. In the dock Bluetooth is turned off, but it can be a full range speaker either on the go or in the dock. It can be switched between subwoofer and full range in the dock. It will just not be a Bluetooth speaker while in the dock.

Q
JBL Bass Pro charging station ready to purchase yet? thanks
jennifer  Jan 01, 2022

A
These have been out but you won't like it it your connecting to your vehicle for a bass tube. If your only needing a subwoofer for Bluetooth radio then it's fine but way over priced. The smaller jbl tube is just as good and much cheaper.
jonathan  Jan 02, 2022
Q
In your video @ 4:40 you state that a home dock station will be available......When?
james  Nov 09, 2021
1 answer
A
At the time of this post, we have not gotten any update on when a home dock will be available; just that they were planning to release one. If that changes and one does come to market, we will update the details on this web page to reflect that's an option now.

Q
Is it possible to install two units in the same vehicle?
robert  Nov 09, 2021
2 answers
A
Hi Robert,, I use a 8 Guage wire for my Amp and it powers both unit at the same time, as long as you wire one to the left speaker and the other one to the right channel. Hope this info is helpful! Have a blessed day.
tudela  Nov 10, 2021
A
Sure! You'd just wire it up like any other amplifier. My question would be, why? I installed this in my 2019 Toyota Rav 4 and could not notice the difference in bass as the factory system was very punchy. I now just use it like a portable speaker. If you want more bass, I'd highly recommend going with a dedicated system.
ross  Nov 09, 2021
Q
What App works with the Basspro go? When is the Home doc station available?
james  Jul 23, 2021
2 answers
A
It's unfortunate, as JBL advertised this with a home dock being available soon. Now I have a fancy speaker in my car with no way to charge it outside of the car. I'd pass until JBL makes good on their promise.
ross  Nov 09, 2021
A
This works with the JBL Portable app. We do not have any information on a home dock being developed for it.
jason  Jul 27, 2021 (Staff)
Q
Options for charging is only from the car ? When i remove it from the car, there is no usb C or anything to charge it with ?
shahrain  Jun 14, 2021

A
This can only be charged from the dock which is only made to work in a vehicle. There is no other way to charge it
jason  Jun 23, 2021 (Staff)
Q
When using in subwoofer mode for my car, will it also use the speaker? I want audio and bass from it.
dalilah  May 30, 2021
4 answers
A
When you're in subwoofer mode, the main woofer (in the center) provides the sound. The tweeters (speakers on the sides) do not play bass or audio when in subwoofer mode. If you switched it to the full range mode, it would act as another speaker in the car. Hope this helps!
john  Jun 01, 2021
A
it works as a bass when connected to car. it works as a awesome speaker when removed from car. it will not work as anything more than base when connected to car. hope this helps
rod  May 31, 2021
A
You can set it to both audio and bass. But I would not recommend this thing. You can only charge it by power in your car.
jonathan  May 30, 2021
A
By default it will be a just a bass speaker. You can program it to use all the speakers in the unit in your vehicle.
james  May 30, 2021
Q
Is it possible to get a second install kit to switch between two vehicles?
john  Apr 06, 2021
1 answer
A
That's a great Idea, I would like a charger (cable) for the home - that is the biggest downfall for me with the speaker. With Covid BS I don't drive as much so I would use the speaker inside more. They need to provide a cable to charge OUTSIDE the vehicle. Currently it only charges hooked up in the vehicle.
