Don't really know what to expect as of now, I put them in and they're significantly quieter than the front door speakers I have (they're JBL but my buddy before me doesn't remember what exact ones he put in), hoping they improve as they break in. These sounded great for about a month. After that I started to notice tones previously sounding great had began to muffle or deteriorate. Not impressed at all, and convieniently passed the return window.

Cons: Lasting sound quality is not a thing with these. I loved my other speakers that were similar- these were a huge disappointment.

Surprisingly great sound despite these 5.25" round speakers replacing 6x9 factory JBL door ones. Highly recommend taking the plunge and applying sound dampening material as part of a modest upgrade from factory, because the reduced road noise lets these wonderfully crystal-clear drivers shine.
Pros: Excellent sound, surprisingly good compared to factory speakers.
Cons: Packet of dielectric grease would've been nice to have for this one-time upgrade to an old beater of a car.

I needed a new pair of rear speakers for my 07 Chevy Trailblazer that has a factory Bose stereo without navigation. These JBL speakers are 3 ohms which is close enough for me. These things are loud and sound good except for the piercing treble. My solution was to put duct tape over the tweeters and that was perfect! Now there is a little audible treble but they sound like more of a midrange like they're suppose to.

Used these to replace a speaker that had died. They're not arena sound, but they do the job for the right price. The connection terminals bent super easy when I connected the harness to them, so I had to be a bit more careful and straighten them back out to get the connector to seat firmly. This may be more user error than component design

Cons: Crutchfield does not carry many 4 to 8 ohm speakers in the 5 1/4" size, except for the much more expensive ones. The Boss Stereo I bought at Crutchfield says to use 4 to 8 ohm speakers.

Worst Investment Ever

2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Absolute worst purchase/product guided by on the phone specialist! I spoke on the phone before ordering to receive the best interior door speakers that provided significantly louder sound/bass for my 2002 Ford F250 truck! The first red flag was the installation bolt kit were extremely wrong and required me to cut them to within spec to allow the speaker to mount. Secondly the adapter plate was very universal and the screw tabs were nearly blocking the screw holes that attach to the door itself. Thirdly the plug'n'play speaker harness were pinned incorrectly which cause reversed polarity! Once that was corrected the overall sound quality was very poor and inferior to the OEM door speakers that are 20+ years old! This bar far was the worst purchase and money spent/wasted. I will be going with another company for future purchase as well as a better product in door speakers.
Pros: Shipping was fast and efficient!
Cons: Install kit was universal and not truly vehicle specific as advertised. Speaker wire harness was incorrectly pinned and caused reverse polarity Speaker sound quality was inferior and worse than the OEM speakers to be replaced!

After trying several different speakers that did not work I found Crutchfield and a customer service agent that sold me the JBL speakers that fit perfectly in our granddaughters 2001 jeep wrangler. If I had the extra money I would replace the front speakers as well! Great customer service and spot on with what I needed!

Installed this in my 2021 Goldwing. OEM speakers are 4" single driver and I wanted a larger 2-way speaker. I selected these for their high sensitivity and smaller cutout dimension. (Kudo to Crutchfield for including that information in their tech specs). These provided much more low and mid than the factory speakers and very noticeable at speed.

Pretty good little speakers for the price. Not direct speakers for the 2 ohm, 6" x 8" Bose speakers, but with the "extras" sent with the order, they fit perfectly. Sound quality is very good and the system sounds like new. Would recommend.
Pros: Speakers fit perfectly with the extra pieces sent by Crutchfield. Sound quality is good. No real volume difference using these 4 ohm speakers.
Cons: Original Bose speakers are 6" x 8" at 2 ohm. Would have bought these if I could have found them. If I had to replace them again I'd go with a 4 ohm 6" x 8" speaker to fill the actual hole that's there.

I'm not a audiophile but I just don't think these sound very good. Some of it I think is the installation adapter I had to use, but I wish I would have gone with the JBL9631F in place of these. I used those in the front of the vehicle and they sound outstanding. I used these because Crutchfield said the larger ones wouldn't fit .. but after reading forums it seems that others have used the larger speakers with no issue.

The only thing missing in my new install is a good crossover, but that's coming soon. The 521Fs were placed in the rear of a Corvette convertible and they sound great. I can hear more of the highs than I expected to hear. As others have stated, you can hear cracking, but this is only if the bass is too high. At the right level, the bass sounds perfect. They are not subwoofers and should not be used as such. I have a sub for that. If you are looking to upgrade and want a nice set, you really can't go wrong with these.

2003 BMW 3 Series
I would consider these mid range speakers. They are slightly smaller than stock BMW originals in my E46. I will add larger bass speakers in the rear. The midrange voice and instruments are heard fine. You will need to add more bass speakers.
Pros: voice and instruments in midrange are fine
Cons: Needs bass speakers added.

1998 Dodge Caravan
Bought these to replace worn infinity 5 1/4 in the dash on a '98 Grand caravan with the Infinity Acoustic 10 system. They sound great. Very clear. Very crisp. I put bass blockers on them to make them more "tweeters". Have JBL 8026 6x8 in the front doors, and JBL 9036 6x9 in the rear (mid-) panel. Everything powered by a new Kenwood Excelon KMM-X704 head unit with 22 watts per side. I disconnected the entire Infinity system (four, count 'em) amps!
Pros: Excellent price. Fit perfectly. Bass blockers do the job. Very crisp and clear.
Cons: Zero.

Ordered JBL 5 1/4 for front bottom speakers in a 2012 Mini - unfortunately didn't sound well. Not enough base and too much treble. OEM speakers sounded better. Upgraded to 6 1/2 Polk which were more suited and provided much better base. Fit was very good. I did have to drill new holes, but fit perfectly otherwise.

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
Dealing with a small speaker hole I wanted to make a good choice and get the most out of the small speaker size. This speaker had no reviews and was new to Crutchfield so I took the risk because the description sounded good. I was not happy with the sound at all. It honestly has no range and pops at quite a low volume like a blown speaker. They sound really flat and I plan on replacing them with something else. I've had 4 inch speakers that sound better. I wouldn't recommend this speaker.
Pros: Fit and finish looks nice but that's about it.
Cons: Sound quality vs price. Flat sound. No range. Sound gets progressively worse with volume (I'm not blasting it or anything either).

Been installed a week. Improved sound over the tired factory Bose door speakers for sure. Good mids, clear highs. Will sound better once I get the EQ dialed in. Great speakers!

2003 Dodge Ram 1500
I replaced a pair of entry level Kicker 5.25s with these. I also replaced my 6x9s with the mates to these. Immediate positive difference. I also just installed a Sony MEX xb120bt 40-45 watts rms I believe which really woke these speakers up. I like them a lot.
