Replaced a front blown speaker on 2008 Buick Lucerne after I replaced stock radio with new Sony head unit that has 20 watt rms amp and much more elaborate graphic equalizer. Probably reason original speaker gave up the ghost. Speakers have a much broader frequency response. Exceed expectations. The speaker holders that Crutchfield supplied were very much necessary otherwise would have spent hours drilling and modifying into metal door.

2007 Honda CR-V from Florida

The OEM Honda speaker plug ins to the door speakers were rusted so bad it would not make any contact ! Had to cut off OEM speaker plugs and put new weatherproof female ends on and plugged into Honda wire harness Crutchfield supplied

Great upgrade for 1998 Durango system

These rear door JBL coaxials worked well with the Rockford Fosgate mid-range woofers installed on the front doors, even when retaining original Tweeters up front. My old 1998 Durango is making good vibes once again since the original speakers literally went to dust a few years back. The whole speaker replacement effort was made almost flawless with all the extra brackets, harnesses, and intructions provided by Crutchfield. Kudos.

Used these as rear speakers in my 03 m45. Installation was easy and sound was good for rear fill. Had them connected to a ct80.4 with the gain turned down at the HU and xover at 90. The caps blew few months later. Won't blame these since they were connected to more than rated but would've liked them to last longer.

Door speaker

Super crisp sound. A little overwhelming with clarity. I think they are a wonderful upgrade from factory speakers. I think I want to amplify them. They are in my quad doors. 2010 dodge dakota. Bass is less. Louder in the front doors then in the back doors. Moved sound from front to back and there is a definite loudness difference.

Exceptional customer care

Absolutely amazing, Crutchfield was phenomenal helping me upgrade my speakers for my late model Camry. Good Clean Sound

The JBL speakers have much cleaner mids and highs than the Mopar speaker upgrades (made by Kicker). It's hard to tell if there's a difference in bass since I have an 8 inch Mopar subwoofer in the trunk behind the trim panel. When I first installed the JBL speakers, the lows didn't sound as good but after changing the equalizer settings (bass, mid, treble) on the factory radio to neutral, the JBL speakers sound great. I used to have to keep the midrange and treble turned up kinda high with the old speakers. I would've replaced the speakers sooner if I had known there were adapters to plug into the factory speaker connectors.

These speakers sound great, they are a 10 step up from the OEM speakers they replaced. The removal of the door panels were a real pain with the electrical connections for the power locks/windows being the worse!

Decent

Pretty loud I enjoy them however I have not had them for a year and my passenger side speaker starting to cut lit a lot and has been pretty rattly. Was hoping for a little more in the lower powered speakers for a little better price but I'm not to sure how I feel about them

What a sound!

I purchased these speakers to replace the ones in the back doors of my truck. The original speakers would work then they would quit working. The sounds from the new JBL's is a lot better than I thought. I'm planning on replacing the front door speakers soon. The sound should be outstanding.

I bought these to replace some old stock honda speakers. The stock speakers sounded fine but I wanted a little more bass and clarity. These work well but I wasn't blown away by them, I have many other JBL products that I love, but these are just okay. I have these connected to an aftermarket android head unit with no external amp. These might sound way better with an aftermarket amp, but I was trying to avoid buying one. I did have to disconnect the stock tweeters on the dash as the highs where way to much. I still plan to keep these instead or returning because even though I'm not blown away they still sound better then stock and the bass hits better. Also the mounting screws that Crutchfield provided are way to long and I had to find some other ones to be able to mount the speakers correctly.

Not as good of a sound as I expected, and especially compared to the existing driver side, original speaker, some 20 years later : ref - 2000 Dodge Dakota Regular Cab. Replaced passenger door lower speaker, as it was blown. Be this as it may, some sound is better than nothing, just giving a review because of the email to express my opinion. BTW, the speakers are powered by the original cassette deck/ am-fm radio, perhaps an upgrade would improve performance; one day in the near future we will see .... The adapter kit was excellent!! Kudos for that.

Honestly the factory speakers sounded better. Much more bass and volume. Also factory speakers are 6 ohm, Crutchfield recommend these because I was beeping my factory stereo. These speakers are only 2 ohm. I wish they would have not recommended these.

Crisp, clean, loud

I was very happy after installing these JBL 3-ways. They deliver, crisp, clean highs, mids are on point, and they even have surprisingly good bass tone for a 6.5" woofer. All in all, worth every penny.

Very pleased with the speakers "Chuck" recommended.. .I didn't want to add an amp, so he suggested these JBLs since they were only 3 ohnm and would provide more punch for my front door speakers. He also agreed sound mat would be worthwhile. My sound system is so much better! The bass has a lot more punch and since i was replacing full range speakers, the highs and mids are much improved.. For less than $100 all in I couldn't be more pleased. Will do the same to the rear doors when i get the chance

I'm not thrilled about the sound quality. A friend recommended the brand which he had said they were good speakers. The sound was crackly when I installed them so I was not impressed by the sound quality

Crisp sound, barely any bass

Very crisp, clear sound. Easy to install. The only drawback for me was the severe lack of any bass with these speakers. Didn't want to have to install a sub in my car but may need to look into it if it continues to bother me enough.

VEHICLE SPECIFIC

Do not recommend if you have a first gen CRV. I bought these because they are a 3 way speaker(didn't want to deal with the separate tweeter) and they are a well known, good brand. They do not mount up even relatively close to factory, and they do not sit flush where the speakers are suppose to fit. They vibrate against the speaker grills because they don't fit

Didn't fit - oh well

1 star only because it did not fit as advertised in my 1990 Honda Accord. Would have required drilling 3 holes precisely in the metal rim to line up with the Honda's threaded mounting holes and filing down the Honda's plastic mounting ring in 4 locations to accommodate the speaker's armature. Waste of time to discover these problems - too bad because the JBL after-market speakers in my 1988 Aerostar installed in 1990 or so were a direct fit and sounded great.

Perfect for high schoolers

You can't beat the price for theses. They hit so high and so low and give great sound. I wasn't expecting the bass to hit was hard as it did and I'm very impressed. Also very easy to install and wire. Would recommend for a high school student on a budget wanting to jam out in the car.

Good speakers for a value price

Sounds great. A little quieter than the OEM speakers, but the quality is much better. Not to say they can't be loud, but you have to turn your volume up a couple more. Easy install and good value in my opinion.

Good factory replacement, but

I think the speakers are great and probably the best option for simple factory replacement. The plastic speaker mounts provided by Crutchfield did not fit the door perfectly and had to be compressed slightly making a slight oval shape to mount the speakers on, but the screw slots were forgiving. And speaking of screws, the mounting screws that were provided were too long to be used with the plastic mount. What are needed are 1" screws, which luckily I managed to find in my own screw collection (4 per speaker).

Excellent value

My factory paper speakers were pretty much dissolved in my 2001 Nissan Altima, so I decided to upgrade to these JBL 631 speakers. These speakers are an amazing upgrade! They sound amazing considering the price, very crisp and clear. Definitely an excellent upgrade over most (if not all) factory non-premium speakers. I'll definitely be buying another pair of these for my rear deck. If you're a bass head, don't expect crazy bass output from these (or any 6.5'') speakers. You'd get great results combining these speakers with a powered sub. Installation in my car was a breeze thanks to Crutchfield's included master sheet and wiring harness. Thanks Crutchfield!

Good sound, easy install. I bought 4 of these to replace the speakers in my travel trailer. Much better than the ones that came with it. I did buy the metra female quick slides for the install, and I'm glad I did. Not sure I could have done it as easily without them. The sound is a good balance between highs, mids, and lows, however, lows aren't as powerful as with a component system with a dedicated subwoofer, but you shouldn't expect that with a 3-way anyway. May decide to install a dedicated sub later, but for now I'm happy with the sound these are putting out.
