JBL HDI-1200P
Jon from Las Vegas, NV on 7/4/2025
Strong bass, will rattle a large room nicely. On par with SVS subs at similar power.
Pros: Down-firing ports limit dust intrusion. 1000W RMS!
Cons: Made in China

Great sound! Plenty of bass for everything!
Brian from APPLETON, WI on 3/28/2025
Fantastic sub!! Fills the room nicely!! Cabinet looks great too. I have paired it the the matching shelf speakers which by themselves are very nice. But with the sub, whaa....it adds to the room nicely. I listen to a variety of music, vinyl, digital, cd, old cassettes, and everything sounds fantastic with minor adjustments on my amplifier. I am running a tube amplifier and I couldn't be happier with the full rich sound!! Perfect for just chillin' I am very happy with my selection!
Pros: Beautiful sound, full and deep. Very nice cabinet too. Build quality is great!! Built in adjustments for some addtl. customized sound if generic doesn't work for you, but can use either or. Plenty of full sound, bass and depth!
Cons: Can't really think of any.

Worth the Price.
D.E. from California on 2/14/2025
Was all I expected it to be and more. Has enough bass to be felt through the carpeted floors and gives that extra kick you want when enjoying your music, especially when listening to vinyl LPs. As heavy and very high quality as others have said in prior reviews.
Pros: You know you have the best that there is in subwoofers.
Cons: None.

Impressive

I have two Sumiko s9 which are now SonusFaber Gravis 2's. This 1200p reaches deeper and clearly has more weight but it is larger and heavier. For my listening room of 24'x14'x8 I will never need to go deeper or lower however I only listen to music. I've been using REW with a Umik 1 mic to find the best location which isn't easy or quick. However after a few nights of testing, I think I have a pretty smooth integration with my SonusFaber bookshelf speakers. I use the two s9s with a pair of tower SonusFaber's and they sound absolutely beautiful. Good subwoofer placement is key. Thumbs up....

William from Scottsdale, AZ on 11/23/2024
Quality performance and a sharp cabinet. Word to the wise - the overall height is about 2" greater than stated, likely due to the feet.
Pros: Crisp and accurate bass, ample power, attractive enclosure
Cons: Not really a con but height is about 19" not 17" as listed

A great sub, typical of what anyone should expect from JBL!
KC from Chino Hills, CA on 11/22/2024
A great sub, typical of what anyone should expect from JBL. Great sound, good low end punch. Do note that the measurements on the "Overview" tab show the height at 16-5/16"W x 17"H x 17-13/16"D. That does NOT include the feet that the sub stands on. The real height is nearly 2" taller! I built a cabinet for this to fit into and had to rebuild! If you have plenty of room, it wont matter, but if space is tight you may need to make some changes.
Pros: Great punch and coordinates well with the rest of my JBL speaker setup.
Cons: Only that the measurements listed in the Overview tab are incorrect.... real sub is 2" taller!

Reid from Dickinson, ND on 10/16/2024
This HDI-1200P absolutely pounds! I've got it paired with a set of HDI 3800's run through a Parasound A21. I'll leave the technical stuff to the pros, but for the novice like me, this thing is incredible. Plus, it is truly, very nice to look at. Very solid, eat your Wheaties before unboxing. Crutchfield made this purchase so easy.
Pros: Very solid. Easy set up. Terrific markdown pricing! Amazing sound.
Cons: None so far.

Rich bass, great looks.
Carlos from Miami, FL on 4/24/2024
I'm so glad I added the JBL HDI 1200P sub to my system. My Sonus Faber Olympica Nova II speakers sounded great by themselves, but I couldn't help feeling like they could use a a little help on the low end. The JBL sub fills the void beautifully, both for music and films. I honestly didn't even know I was missing out on so much. And it integrates perfectly. I can't tell that the rich bass I am now hearing (and feeling) isn't coming from my speakers. I had resisted buying a subwoofer because I didn't want an ugly box cluttering up my listening room. This sub (I bought the walnut version) is beautiful and unobtrusive. Even my wife doesn't mind it. It is definitely worth the purchase price.
Pros: Powerful bass integrates perfectly with existing setup; beautiful looks; solidly built.
Cons: None

JBL HDI-1200P
Dimitar from Charlottesville, VA on 4/16/2024
Solid subwoofer - can't lift it to take it out of the box. As soon as I unwrapped it made me feel that my money was worth it for it. This HDI-1200P is a pretty nice-looking one and made with quality pieces. It also has a furniture-grade finish and build quality, and by that, I mean nice furniture. The model I bought is a real-wood walnut veneer with a satin finish, but you also can get it in black and silver. The walnut veneer is very elegant. If you are listening to music like me - it's ideal for any medium size rooms. Has lots of power. I barely go over 30% of the volume and I got this bass that fills the whole room. To the point - nice looking, powerful, for that price - worth it and will last decades.

Solid Product
Aaron from Allentown, PA on 1/4/2024
I was looking for a sub that can provide lots of solid clean bass at low and high volumes. Crutchfield always has a vast variety of excellent products with great service. The JBL HDI-1200P was packaged very well, shipping was excellent, and it was very easy to hook up. Thanks to Crutchfield, JBL delivered. There is no distortion or bad vibrations. The sound quality is crisp and very solid. Definitely not let down. Highly recommend.
Pros: Easy to install, with what you want (bass).
Cons: Didn't order this sooner.
