JBL Synthesis SA750 75th Anniversary Edition Integrated Amp

The 75th anniversary edition L100 Classic 75 speakers make a perfect match, visually and otherwise, for JBL's SA750 streaming integrated amplifier.

A sweet retro look

The limited-edition L100 Classic 75 comes as a matched pair, along with heavy-duty custom JS120 floor stands that elevate the speakers and angle them upward for comfortable listening. Each speaker sports beautiful teak wood veneers and cool, retro-looking black Quadrex foam grilles with matching teak veneer frames. Each speaker also bears a commemorative plaque with the signature of the principal system engineer along with the individual pair number, out of the total production run.

These speakers make a perfect match, sonically and visually, with JBL's teak-paneled 75th anniversary edition SA750 streaming integrated amplifier, available separately.

Sonic upgrades, too

JBL has kept the speaker's three-way design mostly the same: it uses a white, 12" pure pulp woofer, a dedicated 5-1/4" midrange driver, and a 1" titanium dome tweeter. However, in the anniversary edition, you get an improved woofer suspension design, as well as two sets of binding posts that allow bi-amping or bi-wiring. Just like the L100 Classic, there's a front-firing port to help reinforce the low frequencies, as well as attenuators for fine-tuning the output of the midrange and tweeter individually.

Features

Limited Edition JBL 100 Classic 75: This Limited-Edition JBL L100 Classic loudspeaker package celebrates JBL's 75 years of iconic loudspeakers. The L100 Classic 75 is sold as a matched pair system and includes a set of JS-120 floor stands. The entire system ships inside a specially-crafted wooden crate with limited edition artwork on the side panels. Production is limited to 750 pair worldwide.

3-Way Driver Design: The JBL L100 Classic 75 loudspeaker utilizes a 3-way driver configuration featuring a 1" titanium dome tweeter, 5.25" polymer-coated pure-pule cone midrange driver, and a 12" pure-pulp cone bass woofer with improved suspension design. The L100 Classic 75 Loudspeaker delivers room-filling, full-range sound with exceptional dynamic range and detail, clean and effortless high output, and precise deep bass with low distortion.

Controls & Adjustments: The L100 Classic 75 has front-panel adjustments that let you balance the levels of the midrange driver (MF) and tweeter (HF) relative to the woofer. You can use these controls to adjust the speaker's sound according to your room's acoustics, or your personal taste. The "0dB" default position is a good place to start. Whatever sounds best to you in your room is the right setting. As with most speakers, after you start playing the L100 Classic 75 it will take the drivers' suspensions several weeks to "break in" and achieve optimum performance. During this period, the balance between the woofer, midrange, and tweeter may change, so JBL recommends that you adjust the midrange and tweeter controls again after the break-in period.

Note: The front-panel control adjustments are located behind the Quadrex foam grille. There is also a protective plastic film on the front control panel label that needs to be removed.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The JBL L100 Classic 75 loudspeaker employs a bass reflex enclosure with a front-firing port for higher efficiency and bigger bass response. The enclosure is finished in beatiful teak wood veneer with a black Quadrex foam grille.

Dual Binding Posts: The L100 Classic 75 is outfitted with two sets of gold-plated binding posts allowing to bi-amp or bi-wire the floorstanding loudspeaker. These gold-plated binding posts ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and banana plugs (single only). Plastic caps will need to be removed to use banana plugs.

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).

Matching Speaker Stands: The L100 Classic 75 include JBL's JS-120 floorstands that are designed specifically for the JBL L100 Classic Series speakers. These metal stands angle the speaker upward 7-degrees for better sound imaging. Follow these guidelines when mounting & placing the JBL L100 Classic 75 loudspeakers.

  • For best results, place the speakers 6' to 8' apart. If you set the speakers farther apart than this, angle them toward the listening position.
  • The speakers will produce the most accurate stereo soundstage when the angle between the listener and the speakers is between 40 and 60 degrees.
  • Generally, bass output will increase as the speaker is moved closer to a wall or corner. For best performance, JBL recommends that you place the speakers at least 20" away from the sidewalls.

Note: This speaker does not offer any bracket, keyhole, or threaded insert for wall-mounting.
