Class D Amplification: The JBL MA310 AV receiver is equipped with a 5 channel Class D amplifier for higher efficiency, cool thermal operation, and low noise operation. The amplifier is rated a 60 watts into 8-ohms @ 1Hz with 0.5% THD (2-channels driven) or 100 watts into 4-ohms @ 1kHz with 0.5% THD (2-channels driven).

24-bit/192kHz DAC: The JBL MA310 employs a 24-bit/192kHz DAC (digital-to-analog converter) for high resolution audio playback.

Surround & Stereo Formats: The JBL MA310 AV receiver supports 5.1ch Dolby Digital and 5.1ch DTS, as well as 2ch/5.1ch PCM.

    • Stereo: In Stereo Mode, the MA310 can be set to 2.0Ch Stereo, 2.1Ch Stereo, or All Channel Stereo. 2.1Ch Stereo includes a powered subwoofer channel along with left and right stereo speakers. All Channel Stereo produces audio from all speakers by copying the left output to all left speakers and the right output to all right speakers. The center speaker outputs a mix of left and right.
    • Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital sources deliver sound with five discrete full-range channels (including left, center, right, surround left, surround right, plus LFE sub channel) for 5.1ch surround sound.
    • DTS: The JBL MA310 supports DTS and DTS 96/24. DTS delivers surround sound with five full range channels, plus an LFE channel for 5.1ch surround sound. DTS 96/24 also provides up to 5.1 channels of audio but at a higher 24-bit/96kHz resolution for superior sound quality.

Note: The JBL MA310 does not support Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD and other multi-channel surround formats not listed above.

EZ Set EQ: The EZ Set EQ apps (for Apple iOS and Android OS) provides easy-to-use room equalization for optimized sound quality. Loudspeakers and room interaction inevitably introduce unwanted coloration to the sound during playback - colorations which are sometimes either difficult or impossible to remove with traditional electronics or room treatments. The EQ Set EQ app collects room acoustics data for each speaker in under two minutes using your compatible Apple iOS or Android OS device connected to the JBL AV receiver via Bluetooth.

    • Using a microphone to analyze the audio system and room, EZ Set EQ builds an acoustic model of the listening environment. The built-in microphone of an Apple iOS device can be used for the calibration. For Android OS devices, JBL recommends using a 3rd-party microphone (such as the Dayton Audio iMM-6C USB-C microphone) for the best results since every Android device has different a microphone/frequency response.
    • EZ Set EQ primarily addresses room interactions in the low frequency bands, that way it has minimal effect on overall loudspeaker voicing. The low frequency response can be adjusted according to the loudspeaker's natural low frequency extension to avoid boosting lower than the speaker can handle, and by the size of the room.

Note: EZ Set EQ does not affect delay or level adjustment. It is important that you make these necessary adjustments manually prior to using the room EQ app.

Audio Settings: The JBL MA310 AV receivers offers a variety of audio settings to suit your preference, content, and application.

    • Bass & Treble: The JBL MA310 allows you to alter the bass and treble tone controls for all currently active speakers for each individual input. For example, if your turntable source sounds a little bass light, you can always correct for this by selecting the source in the Source Setup menu and add 2 or 3dB to the Bass control. Then, whenever the Turntable input is selected, the bass is automatically boosted for as long as that input is selected.
    • Dialog Enhance: A proprietary JBL audio enhancement setting to improve the intelligibility of spoken dialog for cinema applications using a center channel. However, if you are not using a center channel speaker then this setting will have no effect.
    • Direct Mode: The Direct mode disables any digital signal processing parameters when listening to an analog input source.
    • Source Level: The relative level of each input source can be set and adjusted manually to keep the various sources sounding about the same level for any given volume control setting.
    • Max On Volume: This feature limits the maximum volume the receiver operates in the main zone when it is switched on or comes out of Standby. The receiver comes on at this stored volume setting if the last used (possibly very loud) volume exceeds this value. It is stored in memory and recalled each time the unit is powered up.

ARC (Audio Return Channel): The ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature of the MA310's HDMI monitor output allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to the receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your Ultra-HD TV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

Analog & Digital Audio Inputs: The JBL MA310 is outfitted with two analog audio inputs and two digital audio inputs. The two analog audio inputs consists of stereo RCA line-level jacks. The two digital audio inputs consist of one optical (Toslink) input and one coaxial (S/PDIF) input. Both digital inputs can support Dolby Digital, DTS, and 2ch/5.1ch PCM (up to 24-bit/192kHz). If you want to connect a turntable to the AV receiver's line-level inputs, you'll need an external phono preamp (sold separately) or a turntable with a built-in phono preamp.

Binding Post Speaker Outputs: The JBL AV receiver has binding post terminals for all of it speaker connections (Front Left, Front Right, Center, Surround Left, and Surround Right). The binding posts can accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin connectors, and banana plugs (single only). You can connect 8-ohm, 6-ohm, or 4-ohm loudspeakers.

Dual Sub Outs: The JBL MA310 AV receiver is equipped with two mono-RCA subwoofer LFE outputs for connecting up to two powered subwoofers. The two subwoofer LFE outputs are not discrete and share the same low frequency effect channel.

    Video Section

HDMI 2.0: The JBL MA310 AV receiver is outfitted with 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output that meet HDMI 2.0 specifications with support for 4K/60Hz ultra-HD video, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and HDCP 2.2. Make sure to use a premium high-speed 18Gbps HDMI cable (sold separately) for the best 4K/HDR performance.

4K/60Hz Ultra-HD Video: The JBL MA310 supports up to 4K (3840x2160 pixels) video @ 60 frames per second on all of its HDMI inputs and output. It also supports a 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p video signal.

HDR (High Dynamic Range): HDR (High Dynamic Range) video provides enhanced picture quality by simultaneously enabling greater detail for both the dark and bright parts of an image. HDR reproduces a greater dynamic range of luminosity or brightness levels, creating greater contrast. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. This receiver supports HDR 10 only. It is not compatible with HDR 10+, HLG, or Dolby Vision.

HDCP 2.2: All of the AV receiver's HDMI inputs and output support HDCP 2.2 which fully complies with the latest copyright protection standard for 4K/HDR video transmission.

Lip Sync: Each input can have its own setting to add a time delay between the audio and video signals to compensate for the sound and picture not being synchronized. The range of lip sync delay is 0 to 250 milliseconds. The lip sync adjustment can only correct for delayed video. If the audio is late set lip sync to its minimum.

HDMI Pass Through: This HDMI feature enables the AV receiver to pass-through the last selected HDMI audio/video to your TV even when the receiver is off and in standby mode.

    Bluetooth & USB Integration

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The JBL MA310 offers built-in Bluetooth 5.1 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP). You'll be able to wirelessly transmit audio from your stored music, music apps and other audio content on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to the AV receiver. You'll still control music playback and view song/artist/album information from your Bluetooth source device. You can pair up to 7 Bluetooth devices with the JBL MA310, but only one Bluetooth source device can be used for playback at a time. Make sure to install the included Bluetooth antenna.

Note: The JBL MA310 is a Bluetooth receiver only and not a transmitter. You cannot wirelessly transmit audio via Bluetooth from the AV receiver to a set of Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

USB-A Port: The rear-panel USB-A port is used for service and firmware updates only. It is not designed for media playback.

    Remote Control

IR Remote: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the JBL MA310 AV receiver. Control functions included Power On/Off, Menu Navigation/Selection, Front-Panel Dimmer, Input Selections, Volume Up/Down, Surround Mode, and Mute.

HDMI CEC: The JBL AV receiver supports HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronic Control), which synchronizes the operation of the receiver with other HDMI-CEC devices (such as your TV) when connected via HDMI. When the AV receiver is connected to a HDMI-CEC compatible TV, they will turn On/Off together and you can use the TV remote to control the volume of the receiver. You can disable the Turn On/Off function.

    Convenience Features

On-Screen Menu: The JBL MA310 AV receiver offers an on-screen menu system via its HDMI output to your TV. This clean and simple interface makes setup and other operations extremely easy.

Input Name/Hide: You can change the name of any input to more closely match your setup. Preset names include: TV, Media, Cable Box, Blu Ray, Game, PC, UHD, DVD, CD, AV, SAT, Turntable, Cassette, and AUX. It is then clearer to users of the receiver which inputs they wish to select when scrolling though. You can also hide unused inputs. Hidden inputs do not appear as input choices when scrolling through inputs.

Protection Circuitry: The MA310 AV receiver will enter a protection mode and shut down when it senses a DC Offset overload, short circuit, or high internal temperature

Detachable AC Power Cord: The JBL MA310 comes with a detachable 68" AC power cord (IEC 3-prong) that plugs into the back of the AV receiver and into an AC power outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).
