Defects in two separate amps!
Crutchfield customer from KATY, TX on 9/9/2023
This amp appears to be solidly constructed and quite compact. I'm however, very disappointed with this JBL product after having such good experience with their speakers over the years. The first one shipped had noise on one of the channels. Crutchfield were very professional and quickly sent a replacement - However, the replacement one had an issue with the 12V remote switch not working, and the amp stayed on the whole time (even without 12V connected to the remote switch). While the power was awesome and the music sounded great, I couldn't keep an amp that would run the battery down even when not intended to be in use.

Good price and sound
Jackson from Lexington, SC on 3/29/2023
Pushing great watts through 4 channels for clean sound for a great price. Only thing to look out for is the size, I've had other amps and this one is slightly larger for a harder fit in your boat
Pros: Price and sound
Cons: Size

very nice amp, no complaints
Roger from Las Vegas, NV on 7/7/2021
Bought this amp for my boat, with Clarion head unit and 4 4ohn 6.5 speakers.... Bought it because my Clarion head unit's heat sinks on the back, kept getting sooooo hot, I figured using an ext amp might help keep the temp down...... Well the amp works and sounds great, but it really didn't help with the Clarions high heat issue... but as far as the amp goes, no complaints, easy hook ups and adjustments, great sound.
Pros: well made, sounds great, easy hook ups, plenty of power for my needs
Cons: foot print is little large

Solid untamed power!

This is an interesting amplifier. Originally purchased it for my 24 foot center console boat, but due to its weight, I ended up installing a lighter and less powerful amp. What to do with the MA704? Since I got a very good deal from my friends at Crutchfileld I decided to keep it and find a later use for it. The time has come for the JBL MA704. I ended installing it in my 97 Mitsubishi Montero. Yes, I know it is a marine specs amplifier, but I will feel at home in the Montero. This compact SUV is used mostly for off road, boat trailering and beach parties. Now the good and interesting part. I compared the JBL MA704 with the the JBL Club 4505 which I also own. I was interested in knowing which one better handle my new Sound Ordnance B-24 bandpass sub. To my big surprise the MA704 outperforms the Club 4505 in that category. The Club 4505 is supposed to deliver 500 watts peak (320watts rms@4ohms) to the subwoofer along with 45 watts to 4 speakers. In the other the modest MA704 only delivers 200watts rms at 4 ohms bridged with the other two channels available for the front speakers. But what 200 watts my friends! This amp sound awesome! Make the woofers in the B-24 bandpass rock. The whole body of my Montero vibrates, the windows shakes to the point I feel they can get broken. In summary, this is a clean and powerful sounding amp with the benefit of marine weather protection that you can use in your car, SUV, ATV or boat without problem.
Pros: Clean sound. Lots of power in 4 channel and even more in bridged mode.

JBL made a really solid amp here. Using it to power 6 Wet Sounds Recon speakers (6.5") and it does the job perfectly

Great amp for hours of sounds on the Water in hot weather
Crutchfield customer from APEX, NC on 4/13/2020
This unit has been installed and used for 1 full season. I have 2 JBL MS8W 8" speakers run off of the rear channel, then I have 4 JBL MS65W 6.5" on the front channel. This is all run off of a Clarion Marine head unit in my boat. So far in 1 year the amp has done everything i have needed and hasn't balked once. I have run this for hours on end at a high level and never once had it shut down because of over heating or other reason. Considering I have this in a compartment and not getting open air during a NC summer of days over 100 degrees I am very pleased. The ease of setting it up and installing was great. The only negative is the size of the unit and where all of the hook ups are. It made it challenging to access all of the wires in my boat while having it installed. The unit has to be removed to access all the wires easily, because of the size and weight of the unit, this can be challenging. This may just be a my issue because of location in the boat, and it is only on a rare occasion that full access to the amp is needed so it is well worth it for all the benefits and performance. If you want plenty of power, great sound and fantastic reliability then this unit for you. I cannot speak as to the performance with a sub, however with my application, I get all of the sound, depth and clarity i could ask for. Get lots of compliments on the system sound from my boat and this amp is a major part of that.
Pros: simple set up, clean look. easy to use, plenty of power, reliable
Cons: Size and weight of unit. screws for all connections can be a little cumbersome
