JBL PartyBox 300

Serious about having fun? Bring a JBL PartyBox 300 to your next shindig. This big, rugged, 35-pound speaker will crank out your tunes with massive, hard-hitting sound to get people moving. And the PartyBox 300's three-mode light effects help set the mood.

If anyone wants to sing or play along with the music, the PartyBox has both guitar and microphone inputs. Stream tunes via Bluetooth from your smartphone or tablet. Or plug in a flash drive preloaded with your party mix.

Big sound indoors and out

The PartyBox 300 features two 6-1/2” woofers and three 2-1/4” tweeters for powerful, clear sound. A rear-firing port reinforces the bass. And there's also selectable Bass Boost if you want to make your tunes thump even more.

Want bigger sound? You can pair two PartyBox 300 speakers together for either two-channel stereo or just to double the volume. The speakers can be paired wirelessly via Bluetooth, or they can be connected with RCA cables.

Making connections

You might use a Bluetooth phone or tablet as the music source most of the time, but you have other options, too. The stereo RCA input lets you connect a CD player or a turntable with built-in phono preamp. A USB port on the back lets you plug in flash drives.

There are two 1/4” input jacks — one for a microphone, the other for a guitar. Volume control knobs let you set their levels independently. These inputs let you either sing or play along to music already playing through the PartyBox 300. Hello, karaoke night!

Portability and power

Integrated carry handles make the PartyBox 300 easier to transport. (But at 35 pounds, it's one of the heaviest "portable Bluetooth speakers" we've ever seen.) The speaker has a built-in rechargeable battery that can deliver up to 18 hours of operation. You can use the speaker's USB port to charge your smartphone or tablet. And the PartyBox 300 comes with a detachable AC power cord, so you can keep the sound and light show going indefinitely.

Rolling (and rocking) on the river — a hands-on review

"Two of my favorite things in the world are music and camping. When I first saw and heard the JBL PartyBox 300 I knew that I had to have one. My friends were just as impressed when I showed up at our camping spot with my latest purchase.

"We listen to a wide variety of music and all of our playlists sounded great through the PartyBox! With 250 watts of power (120 watts RMS) we rocked out while we relaxed by the river. The bass boost function really helped those deep bass notes rumble through our campsite.

"After dark, we sat around the fire. There were surprised looks when I turned on the PartyBox's built-in light effects. With lights flashing in time to the music this Bluetooth speaker took our music to another level.

"When my cell phone battery started dying, I just plugged it into the PartyBox's USB port. The music continued to play long after my cell phone would have died without the charging source in the speaker.

"With 18 hours of battery life, the speaker kept the music playing as we talked and laughed well into the night. And with the added guitar and mic inputs, we could plug into the speaker and rock right along with the music playing."

Not sure, I don't. Only plug mine in when needed. I get a lot of hours of listening on a charged battery. Probably only plug it in once a month.
mike  Nov 23, 2020
Yes you can't, no problems what so ever.
ramon  Nov 22, 2020
I have left it plugged in for months at a time and nothing bad ever happened. Hope this helps.
ramiro  Nov 22, 2020

Does the tweeter on the bottom only work when a mic or guitar is connected and gain is turned up as I don't hear it working at all when listening to it via Bluetooth,Analog or Auxiliary?

All 3 tweeters work when Blue-toothed to iPod.
mike  Jun 20, 2020
When the speaker is standing upright only the top 2 tweeters work, but when you position the speaker sideways the third tweeter should start working. I do think it's kind of strange that there are 3 and not 4 tweeters, perhaps the sound is more balanced with 3 and 4 would be too much treble.
john michael  Jun 10, 2020
Can you charge it overnight?

, it charges in a couple hours
terry  Jan 10, 2020
Yes, you can charge it overnight. The regular power cord is used for power or charging... it has lights on top to tell you charged status. The orange car cord is only for power to play it; it will not charge it. I love my Party Box and use it for soccer.
