Multi-Purpose Dolby Atmos Loudspeaker: The JBL Stage 240H is a compact multi-purpose loudspeaker that with the flip of a switch can be can be set as a Dolby Atmos topper, or a wall mounted elevation or a surround loudspeaker. The "ATMOS/Surround" switch is located on the back of the speaker an next to the binding post terminals. Dolby Atmos delivers captivating, object-based sound that places and moves audio anywhere in the room to bring entertainment alive all around the audience. With Dolby Atmos sound comes alive from all directions, including overhead, to fill a home theater with astonishing clarity, power, detail and depth. Learn more out Dolby Atmos here.

  • Dolby Atmos Toppers: The Stage 240H can be used as a Dolby Atmos topper for JBL's Stage 280F and 260F floorstanding loudspeakers. The included anti-slip pad is placed on the bottom of the Stage 240H to hold the speaker securely in place on top of the 280F or 260F floorstanding speaker. In this application , the Stage 240H's binding posts terminals will connect to the top binding posts on back of the 280F or 260F floorstanding speaker. You will need to set the switch on back of the speaker to "ATMOS".
  • Wall-Mounted Speakers: The Stage 240H also features a key-hole slot and 1/4-20 threaded insert to wall-mount the speaker, allowing it to be used as a wall-mounted height or surround speaker. In this application the Stage 240H's binding post terminals will connect to the Height or Surround channel speaker outputs on back of your AV receiver or amplifier. You will need to set the switch on back of the speaker to "SURR". The speaker should always be wall-mounted with the tweeter above the woofer.
    • Height Channels: When using the Stage 240H as front. middle, and/or rear height channel speakers, mount the speakers high on the wall near the ceiling directly on the front, side, and/or rear walls.
    • Surround Channels: When using the Stage 240H as surround speakers, mount them on the side walls slightly behind the main listening position, facing each other. When using Stage 240H as surround back speakers, mount them on the rear wall directly behind the main listening position, facing forward. As surround or surround back speakers, the JBL Stage 240H should be mounted at least 5-6' above the floor.

Note: The JBL Stage 240H multi-purpose loudspeaker is not designed to placed on a stand, shelf, table, or other flat surface. Its specifically designed to be a Dolby Atmos topper for specific JBL Stage 2 floorstanding speakers or a wall-mounted Height/Surround loudspeaker.

2-Way Driver Design: The Stage 240H employs a 2-way driver design that features 1" anodized aluminum dome tweeter with JBL's High-Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide, plus a 4.5" Polycellulose ribbed cone woofer with rubber surround for legendary JBL sound.

  • 1" Anodized Aluminum Tweeter with HDI Waveguide: The Stage 240H features a 1" anodized aluminum dome tweeter that is coupled to JBL's High-Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide for a smooth and natural high frequency repose. Through intense research of previous waveguide designs, JBL developed a new complex HDI waveguide geometry that improves directivity and reduces diffraction for better performance both on and off axis. The Stage 2 HDI waveguide is coupled to an anodized aluminum dome tweeter to enhance efficiency and dynamics. This new design offers a neutral frequency response both on and off axis.
  • 4.5" Polycellulose Ribbed Cone Woofer: The JBL Stage 240H houses a single 4.5" Polycellulose ribbed cone woofer with rubber surround. This pure pulp cone has a proprietary mix of other materials added to it along with a ribbed design to improve its rigidity, so it can produce produce deep, accurate, room filling bass.

Sealed MDF Cabinet: The JBL Stage 240H multi-purpose loudspeaker features an acoustic suspension (sealed) MDF cabinet with wood-grain vinyl finish.

5-Way Binding Post Terminals: The JBL Stage 240H is outfitted with a set of 5-way binding post terminals that will accept barre wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, or banana plugs (single or dual).

Magnetic Attached Grille: The included cloth grille attaches magnetically to the front baffle of the JBL Stage 240H multi-purpose loudspeaker.

Stage 2 Series: The Stage 2 Series from JBL delivers exceptional audio performance for today's music and movie enthusiasts. The Stage 2 Series consists of two floorstanding loudspeakers (280F / 260F), two bookshelf loudspeakers (250B / 240B), center-channel speaker (245C), and a multi-purpose height/surround speaker (240H), plus two powered subwoofers (220P / 200P) - all sold separately.

The JBL Stage 240H features a key-hole slot and 1/4-20 threaded insert to wall-mount the speaker, Chirag. While they are designed to be used wall mounted, the 1/4-20 threaded insert could be used for a custom mounting location.

Q
What exactly is the atmos/height toggle switch doing? Limiting frequency range, adding filter, etc? I've been looking online and see the switch there, just not sure what's actually happening to the speaker circuitry.

Hey Ezra, the Surr/Atmos switch is just changing the crossover at which the speaker can perform at to ensure certain frequencies are eliminated to give you proper imaging.
