About the JBL Stadium BassHub

Bass that fits in your trunk

Modern music really needs a good subwoofer to convey all of its power. But as cars become smaller, it becomes more difficult to find the space for the bass you need. JBL steps up with a clever solution in the Stadium Series BassHub, a compact passive subwoofer enclosure that mounts over the hub of your spare tire to give you maximum bass and maximum space savings.

Small size, big features

The BassHub features a 11" subwoofer with a tough fiberglass cone and rubber surround that'll hold up at high volumes, with power handling up to 600 watts RMS. The speaker's dual 4-ohm voice coils give you the flexibility of choosing 2- or 8-ohm total impedance. The rugged cast-aluminum enclosure protects the sub from your cargo while taking up very little space. A plug-in harness makes removing the sub to access the spare tire a simple task.

Installation Note: The Stadium BassHub is designed to mount inside the spare tire rim. You'll need to turn your spare tire upside down to install this sub. It should only be used in vehicles that have the spare tire inside the vehicle and feature a removable spare tire post; not compatible with welded spare tire posts.

Q
How much of a difference in sound and fitment does a spare tire size create?
vlad st. howler  Apr 10, 2024
1 answer
A
The JBL Stadium Basshub is an enclosed 11" subwoofer designed to mount inside most sizes of spare tires, Eric. The JBL Stadium Basshub should only be used in vehicles that have the spare tire inside the vehicle and feature a removable spare tire post and is not compatible with welded spare tire posts. Difference in sizes of spare tires will not affect overall sound quality much as the JBL Stadium Basshub features its own sealed enclosure.

Q
I have a 2018 Kia Stinger with the Harmon Kardon sound system already in my car, it came standard. Will it power this JBL fine seeing as how I cannot replace the head unit itself since its mounted to the dash and all the wiring systems? Are there any other modifications I may need to make to maximize its sound?

Hey Brian, you will not be able to really push this sub with your factory system very well. Not only is the HK system output not a very good match, but there is also not alot of power behind the amp to properly drive it. If you are needing more bass and wanted to stick with the tire hub aesthetic, you will want to look at the powered version of this sub (https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c402/p_109BASPROB/JBL-BassPro-Hub.html?tp=114) which will require running power to the battery and you will need a proper line output converter between the factory HK amp and the powered sub itself. The most important thing about those JBL hub subs is it should only be used in vehicles that have the spare tire inside the vehicle and feature a removable spare tire post; not compatible with welded spare tire posts.

An aftermarket amplifier is required to power the JBL Stadium BassHub Passive, Brian. If the JBL Stadium BassHub passive fits in your vehicle's spare tire, consider using the JBL BassPro Hub powered version in the link below that has a built-in 200-watt amplifier. The JBL BassPro powered can connect to your factory radio with speaker-level inputs and requires the power and ground wiring kit in the second link below for power. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_109BASPROB/JBL-BassPro-Hub.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK10/Crutchfield-CK10.html

Q
Is this compatible with the Alpine PXE-C80-88?
davidt  Mar 15, 2024
1 answer
A
The JBL Staduim BassHub Passive can handle a maximum of 600-watts RMS and features dual 4-ohm voice coils, David. You can use the BassHub passive with the Alpine PXE-C80-88. I suggest wiring the dual coils in parallel and connecting to one of the Alpine amps subwoofer channels to deliver 300-watts RMS to the JBL Subwoofer at 2-ohms. The Alpine Optim8 amp is an excellent choice if you want to take advantage of the DSP tuning features to bring the best sound out of your system!

Q
Is this compatible with the Alpine PXE-C80-88 amplifier?
davidt  Mar 15, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings David. Thank you for your question. It is compatible, but the subwoofer will be getting 300 watts, and it is rated for 600. It will be a bit under powered.

Q
Will this fit in a 2009 Pontiac vibe with a 16â?? space saver spare?
steve  Jan 15, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Steve. Thank you for your question. We do not check vehicle fitment on this specific subwoofer. According to JBL, it fits most, but they do not have a vehicle compatibility list either. Best I can do is tell you that we have a 60 day money back guaranty. If it will not fit, we can take it back within 60 days after the purchase date.

Q
Can you use the factory amp to power it? At least temporarily until I can afford a new amp.
dustin  Aug 05, 2023
1 answer
A
Chances are this subwoofer would not produce as much bass as a stock subwoofer did when it is powered by a stock amp. However, that alone would not cause damage. You just need to be willing to live with that reduced bass until you get the new amp. Don't boost the bass or turn it up until you have gotten the new amp to power it.

Q
Why does the spare wheel HAVE to be in the well in order to have this sub fit?
samuel  May 25, 2023
1 answer
A
This JBL Stadium BassHub sits inside your spare tire (once turned upside down) and is secured by the mounting post, Samuel. The JBL Stadium Basshub should only be used in vehicles that have the spare tire inside the vehicle and feature a removable spare tire post, not compatible with welded spare tire posts. Since this is a special application subwoofer, I would not advise mounting without the spare tire in place.

Q
Is this compatible with a 2016 Dodge Charger Rt?
tim  Mar 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Tim, and thank you for your question. This would be one of the few items we cannot test fitment on any vehicle. JBL made this to fit most every vehicles trunk mounted spare tire. This is a passive subwoofer, so you would also need an amplifier with 500-600 watts.
hogan  Mar 08, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Does the spare tire have to be in a wheel well for the sub to work properly?
alex  Feb 03, 2023

A
This can also work with spare tires located under the cargo space.

Q
How well does it fit for a 2013 Ford Taurus?
fusionjoe210  Sep 22, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings FUSIONjoe, and thank you for your question. We do not have the opportunity to try fitment for this JBL Basshub into any vehicle. The Basshub dimensions are listed on the details tab of the web site. take those and then compare the dimensions of your spare tire. It was designed to fit most all vehicles, most.

Q
How would it sound with a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 Bose system? Would i need an additional amp?
sean  Sep 09, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Sean, and thank you for your question. We do not perform installs here unless it is one us in our own vehicles, so I would not have the answer for you on how it would sound in your Speed3. I can tell you it is going to be much better than the stock sub is. It will need an amplifier as it needs more power than the factory amp has. You would need 400-600 watts on the amplifier to run this sub.

Q
WILL THIS FIT IN A 2016 CHEVY CRUZE LIMITED ltz ?
russell  Aug 03, 2021
1 answer
A
Hi Russell, I would do a quick measurement of your spare tire. The dimensions: 6.5"H (Top to bottom), x 14.13"D (This is the diameter, front to back, side to side) I would imagine you would need at least a 15" or larger spare. Hope this helps.

Q
What kind of power wiring does this require? Recommendations on wire kits?
richard  Jul 10, 2021
1 answer
A
There is no amp built into this subwoofer. It is designed to take speaker wire from an external amp and the amp wiring kit needed will vary depending on the amp used to power it. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation on a complete setup including the amp and wiring to install it

Q
Does this include a Line Output Converter? If not, any recommendations?
richard  Jul 10, 2021

A
There is no amp built into this subwoofer. It is possible to get amps with speaker level inputs that can power this subwoofer. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss all your goals and get a personal recommendation on the gear needed to complete the installation

Q
Just checking to see if this is a typo. You're telling me this injection-molded plastic body houses an 11 inch single voice coil sub that handles 600 watts RMS? As in 600 watts continuous input.
ian  Apr 28, 2021
1 answer
A
This sub is a dual 4-ohm voice coil in a sealed enclosure that can handle 600 watts RMS. It can be wired to a final impedance of 2 or 8 ohms. It sounds pretty good, and takes up no trunk space!!
