Often resets to factory settings, otherwise great stereo!

Love the CarPlay it comes with. Both wired and wireless makes it very handy. I have had this stereo for about 7 months at the time of this review. I have a 2013 ford focus that I installed this in. The reason I give three stars is because it crashes and resets about once every week or two. I have it personalized to how I like it sounding/background/features and it's very annoying having to go through and customize all of the settings over and over again. Otherwise it's great. Smooth graphics and functions great. Not too hard to install either.

1 year of issues

1 year of nothing but issues. Started with intermittent (frequent but not constant) wireless carplay issues, not very good when using navigation, and eventually starting shutting all the way off. Owned for 1 year and 2 months. Sony unit that is in my wife's vehicle has been perfect for 5 years. Both Dodge Grand Caravans with all the exact same adapter harnesses.

Great radio

I put this radio in a 2015 MB 3500 Sprinter/Class C Motorhome. Works well. Took a lot of wiring and splicing to make it work correctly. Thankfully I got the mounting kit that included a harness that plugged into MB factory harness. I replaced a Jensen with a Jensen but all wiring except the speakers was totally different. Thanks for telling me that the yellow and red power wires are reverse in this application. Radio operated very good after you learned the menus and different pages.

15,000 miles of disappointment.

After a year of trial end error, I can safely say that its not me, this product just sucks. It skips and distorts like crazy which I checked multiple settings, multiple car electrical diagnoses, and could not fix. Finally I got the thing replaced under warranty in which I expressed my concerns to the customer service rep saying that I wasn't sure a new one was going to fix the problem judging off other poor reviews. He assured me that Crutchfield does not sell any products that are junk and I believed him. Today I installed the new stereo and in the first 20 seconds I was facing connection problems and audio skipping. I am beyond frustrated but at this point there is nothing I can do, I can only wish that I could go back in time and not cheap out on a Jensen unit and save my money until I can afford one from a reputable brand.

Its main use should be a paperweight, I don't have problems connecting my phone over Bluetooth to anything else I own, but it took about 30 tries for my phone to connect. It will boot up when the key is on like it should, but when I shut the car off the radio wont shut off unless I hit the power button. Also the when the headlights would turn on, the radio would start flickering between bright and dim. I triple checked my wiring and solder connections, everything looked good. Wouldn't recommend, unless you want to use it as an expensive baseball. Like normal, my experience with Crutchfield is good, but this product unfortunately is bad.

Great budget stereo

Coming from Kenwood DMX7705S, the design aesthetic is much cleaner. The wireless CarPlay connects quick and the sound is good with stock Prius C 2014 speakers.

Really glitchy. Randomly crashes and resets

I got this unit because I wanted a stereo that supported Apple CarPlay and had a physical volume knob. When I first installed it, it would pop up a screen every time I started the car that required you to tap "Agree" just to see the normal screen. Jensen tech support said that the unit needed a firmware upgrade which I was eventually able to do but their instructions weren't great. After the firmware upgrade the screen popup now goes away after 3 seconds instead of staying on forever. Other than that, the overall quality of the apps running on the stereo are not great. As others have mentioned the screen is a bit laggy and very often whatever function you are using like maps, apple music, even the radio will crash and go back to the main screen. Also the radio likes to randomly start scanning for other stations while you are listening to music which is super annoying. Overall, Crutchfield support is amazing as always but this stereo just isn't that great. The electronics seem good enough but these things are basically computers now and the software on this device is just bad so the user experience tends to have lot of annoying bugs in it.

Volume knob! 2003 Subaru BAJA

I'd've happily spent 3X as much, but none of the other brands respected the KNOB. My desire was Wireless Apple CarPlay and a Volume Knob in a double DIN. Yes the radio stations changed randomly, but I simply turned off some settings and it stopped. I cannot believe the detailed research and instructions Crutchfield provided, even my Kicker 6 1/2 speakers screwed into the factory screw holes, just as they said! I'm a grumpy older man with TONS of industry experience, I've never experienced a vendor this good. It was basically a perfect experience.

Terrible awful and piece of junk

This thing is a piece of JUNK! It is slow it is glitchy it is delayed on Apple car play. One second you are on maps the second you are back on the Home Screen and you have to fight with it to get it back to where ever you had it. One second you are on the Apple Music screen and then second you are back on Home Screen. It is a worthless piece of junk that should be listed for 10 bucks it's so bad DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Not worth it.

Very very disappointed with this radio. It freezes randomly, it doesn't automatically go to the reverse camera when putting in reverse. The process to see the camera makes it not even worth having. Half the time when im using CarPlay it will not respond to me trying to get back to the camera. I'd prefer the barebones stock one to this thing. The picture is okay but not great. The camera sucks. Very disgusted I wasted my money on this one.

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX Success

Installed in my 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX with minimal issues. I had to remove an excess piece of trim from the front of the unit, but it came right off. Purchased the replacement trim, wiring harness, and steering wheel control interface alongside, and there were no issues with any of these products, everything works great. Wireless AA 17 years after purchase is quite the upgrade from a 6 CD Changer and an aux cord!

If I Could Turn Back Time - I would not buy

I am surprised the review got this high. I have a 2019 Honda CR-V. This unit randomly disconnects my phone. When it does work, it is REALLY glitchy. It randomly goes to the home screen, the image sometimes shows static. When listening to the radio, the stations skip through the dial. This is after the "fix" given to me by Jensen. When connected to the steering wheel control, I am unable to control the phone answering, or skipping songs in CarPlay. I had to take it to a shop to get it installed, when it should not have happened. The manual is complete rubbish. Crutchfield was great though. They were there for me for hours chatting with me while i was toiling away in my car.

So so reciever.Crutchfield disappointed me this time

Jensen reciever is ok, screen is kinda "laggy" and slow to respond. Crutchfield representatives are polite but sent me the wrong Metra mounting kit. Called them for help but I was told that I needed the original stock mounting brackets that came with the vehicle. They told me I was gonna have to do some "customization" and drill new holes in sheet metal to make it work. I thought the mounting kit they sent me (the wrong mounting kit) was supposed make this a "plug and play" installation! Jensen is hooked up but my dash is still torn apart. Gonna fabricate some type of brackets tomorrow and waste more time on something that should've been a simple installation. I paid a little more with Crutchfield because I'd hoped they'd go "above and beyond" if I needed help with this install. Next time I'll just buy the stuff from the big online retailer and save a few bucks.

We're sorry about the performance of the Jensen receiver and the added installation hurdles. Many dash kits we offer do require the internal brackets that originally held the radio in place, and when those aren't present or have been removed from a previous installation, it does mean some 'customization' must be done to secure a new stereo. Our system takes into account that you're replacing the factory radio, and we realize that's not always the case. However, we do have a footnote that mentions those brackets when a vehicle is sorted in our system.

Works great when it works

Works great when it works. Very glitchy connecting to Android auto, probably works about 2\3 of the time. Sometimes if I go into my phone settings and connect that way it works, sometimes it doesn't. Even using the USB cable doesn't work. Also when using the FM tuner, if I pick one of the presents it stays on that channel for less then a minute and then starts scrolling up the dial! What? And it will not stay on a channel, just keeps scrolling! Everything works great when it works, frustrated.

PERFECT INSTALL

Got the Toyota Camry install kit, along with the JBL support external box to program steering wheel buttons. Paid for the Crutchfield wiring service which was well worth the price. Made this a plug and play unit. I did have to call tech support to get the steering wheel buttons working but they solved the problem by recommending alternate dip switch settings. Overall excellent install. Also others say apple car play is slow but I didn't find that to be an issue at all. Works too well reconnecting in my opinion. Hard to disconnect I'd say.

It works but there are probably better options

It's okay and it works. But about every 3 car starts the head unit needs to be setup again. It gets old fast having to go through the initial setup several times a week when you get into your car.

Not a bad radio

Nice radio, looks good and plays well. Only issues I have ran into are on android auto, if you push the volume button, it comes up to where it looks like you can speak to it, but doesn't not work. I cannot figure how to get back out of it so have to do a factory reset or stays there even when shut off and back on. The time seems to never stay after I set it.

Superior value with just the right amount of features

This was a Christmas present for our daughter's 1993 Acura Legend. The gift included Dad's installation help. So easy to install. Much of that was due to Crutchfield's "Let us build a harness for you" option. Spend the money for that almost plug&play service, it is worth EVERY penny. Here's what I thought of the unit itself while using it for the two days after installation before I had to leave. The touch screen is surprisingly responsive. Much more so than I thought it would be. Having that volume/on/off knob was a must-have for me and she likes it too. I'm old-school and my muscle memory is long ago set to reach for the dashboard rather than steering wheel controls. She uses the steering wheel more but commented on how handy the knob is. One thought, being in the Southeast, without much cold weather, the button was the perfect size. If you are further North and have to use the button with gloves, it might be a little on the small side. Sound-wise, this Jensen was impressive even with the Acura's 30+ year old speakers. Certainly better than the Bose head unit that it replaced. And of course the wireless CarPlay is simply the best. Bootup time is not bad except for the always slightly annoying warning message splash screen. Her friends, with much newer cars, but only wired CarPlay were quite envious, asking how I could make theirs wireless as well. Nice for the price! 2010 JK Wrangler Wanted to upgrade from OEM without having to take out a 2nd mortgage. Installation was easier than anticipated. SOnly negative would be the overall appearance installed (mainly the Spacers with the dash kit. adjusted teft/right to make the gaps appear uniform) Sounds Great! After being enamored by newer vehicles w/ Android auto I chose to upgrade my 2018 Toyota Tacoma stock head unit. After two days of use I am incredibly disappointed with this product. I've lost capabilities in my driver display (compass and radio), maybe this was ancillary to the upgrade, still an unadvertised disappointment. The controls are non-intuitive, loss of lock on my favorite radio station (never had an issue w/ my factory unit or in my other vehicle) and continuous search, random flip over to Android, display seems to do 'whatever', super slow start up time, slow reaction to rearview camera. The external microphone makes me sound 'distant' according to the people on the other end of the phone. I mounted it on top of my rearview mirror, no idea how to get it closer to me. Overall power of the unit is low as evidenced by the speaker volume during intermittent (note above) radio play or streaming audio...which also cuts out, again, not an issue w/ the factory unit. I will be reinstalling the factory unit this evening and requesting a return. My Crutchfield advisor for initial purchase was great and did deliver the features I requested. I should have been more specific. It was relatively easy to install save the GPS antenna and microphone, but I've been working on cars for 25+ years.

it's a decent unit but mine just can't handle heat. when the cab is hot and the unit it as well. it shuts off repeatedly for around 30 minutes. i had a boss head unit for over two years that did good until the bottom volume button went out.

it's a shame - this unit has everything i want on paper. nice screen, android auto (wired and wireless), volume knob, etc... But not long after installing the wireless connection got glitchy and eventually stopped working all together necessitating a complete reset. over and over again I'd have to futz with it (instead of driving or enjoying my streamed audio books and music). On top of that, some Android Auto audio functions never worked - like "speaking" messages to me, replies from google questions, etc. The last straw is the clock resetting. Set the clock, drive a mile, and *pop* it's June 26, 9:31pm again. (god only knows why that's the reset time. unit will hold other preferences but not the clock. ) I either have a lemon or this basic unit is a piece of junk. either way color me super frustrated. I know will spend more than i did on this unit just to get something that will work the way it's supposed to. I was delighted with Crutchfield service with the order, letting me know what other parts I needed, keeping me uptodate with the different parts coming, so all good there, but this unit sucks.

Jensen in Toyota Rav4

The screen is a tad dim in light conditions. Having apple carplay in a 2011 Rav4 vehicle is very convenient. Install was pretty easy, took 4 hours routing cables, soldering the new harness, and replacing the head unit. Well worth the upgrade from the previous radio.

Fantastic value

Had a multimedia gps head unit give out. Thought I would try Android auto head unit. The price was right for a test medium. Unit looks good, works great, and is pretty user friendly. To my surprise the sound quality is really top notch. With same wiring, amp, and speakers the sound quality is a step up from my old head unit. A terrific value as priced

The sound and quality of the amp is pretty good. The equalizer is very good for correcting for uneven frequency response of the speakers. The sound quality is noticably better than my previous unit. Thankfully, the install instruction were very useful and accurate.

Okay, but....

The installation instructions were very lacking in details, although the technical support people were very helpful. It works okay, but I wish I could get rid of the "No backup camera" message when in reverse. I have a backup camera, but it is displayed in the rearview mirror and that is what I want. The stereo came with extra screws for mounting, but they were not mentioned in the literature. Also the radio and the surrounding plastic piece were not suited for one another. There is an 1/8" gap all around it. It also came with a GPS antenna and a microphone which I don't know that I need for anything as they are not mentioned in the installation instructions.

It works great. Looks great. I have noticed when it switches songs it won't have audio until an update the screen by hitting a button or adjusting the volume knob. You should try it.

Really like this unit. I was skeptical at first due to some reviews and the internet saying jenson is bad brand but it is exactly what I wanted for my 2007 tacoma. The volume know is a little small but otherwise it's great. I got it set up without a backup camera so I haven't tried that out. It was a easier install than I expected

Nice update to a classic car

This unit fit well (physically and visually) and it brings modern features to my 2001 Porsche Boxster. The radio tuner is solid, but the addition of Bluetooth, USB, touchscreen, and wireless CarPlay provide excellent updates to this classic car. Some plastic trimming to the original stock tuner location was required but with the electrical and mount kits (minor costs), supplied by Crutchfield, fitment looks great and is rock solid. I am very pleased with how this update turned out.

Very nice unit

For the price, this unit, with Carplay, is very nice. It really deserves a 4 1/2 star rating. The phone connection works very well, voice recognition for texts, while not perfect, works good. The sound is decent, and it's relatively easy to install and set up. After using this for a while now I realize how much I like having a physical volume knob. I was at first rather annoyed because there was no actual owners manual, only a quick start guide. But I just checked before I wrote this review and they finally have an actual manual, which answered a few of my original questions, such as formatting for a USB thumb drive (DOS/FAT only. I few minor complaints: I wish the display was brighter. I have the brightness up as far as it will go and it's still difficult to see in bright sunlight, and if I have sunglasses on it's almost unreadable. The touch sensitivity of the display can be a bit hard. Overall I am very pleased.

Quality and stability issues are a deal breaker

I've had this infotainment system installed for about a month now and the issues I've had make me regret purchasing this model and installing it. This is my experiences even after updating to the latest firmware. 1) Every time I start my car I just sit and wait for it to turn on and then even longer to get into android auto. 2) The screen is incredibly dim so driving anytime it's sunny out means not being able to see the screen including the map. 3) Streaming auto from phones has multiple breaks in the audio every few minutes. 4) The system has gotten into a glitches state where every fails. Android auto, the radio Bluetooth all become unresponsive and no sound comes out. You have to power cycle the unit to resolve the issue, which means pulling over and turning your car off for 10 seconds because there is no way to turn off the unit independently. I haven't included any issues I think are fixable (for example the included mic is really low quality, but you can replace it easily enough with a better one), but all the above ones are major quality and stability issues for a infotainment system that cannot be fixed by the user, your just stuck with it! I wish I knew about these issues before I purchased this and went trough the trouble of getting it installed as I would have choosen a different model.

A middle of the pack reciever

I took a chance at ordering this receiver for my Ford F150 and am generally satisfied right now. The unit is easy enough to install and didn't run into any problems with the installation. My issues started a couple of weeks later. While driving it randomly switched away from CarPlay and happens about once every 2 weeks. My bigger issue is when I go from reverse to drive, the screen doesn't switch back and stays black. I cannot interact with it when this happens. Fortunately, that has only happened twice now. I am not sure if its because I don't have a camera equipped. For the price of this unit, I figured the software would be clunky but its generally fine. I cannot speak for everyone's experiences but connectivity issues seems to be a recurring theme. The microphone does have to be right by your head or else people of the other end of the line cannot hear you speak. For the most part, this unit does what I need it to do with some minor inconveniences.

Every day a different experience

I was looking for a low cost option which gives me wireless Android Auto. I didn't prioritize sound quality or any other features, just wireless Android Auto. I updated the FW before the install, to make sure it has got the latest. The FW in this car stereo must be written by an intern. Every day something else, new happened. To name a few, - didn't automatically connect to my phone - claimed that no phone was paired and I need to pair one. - touch screen didn't respond - no audio output - Receiver clock reset to 00:00, causing Android Auto to throw an alarm - screen shows colored streaks, but no image All of these reset on power cycle, but are super annoying. I ended up returning this unit and replaced it with the Pioneer DMH-1770NEX which is Pioneers entry level offering for an equivalent price when on sale. The Pioneer doesn't have wireless Android Auto, only wired but I added a Motorola wireless Android Auto USB receiver and this setup works flawless. Even the sound quality is markedly better. I would stay away from the Jensen brand.

Cool upgrade for stock 2004 Ford Expedition

This is great product and upgrade to the stock radio in my 2004 Ford Expedition. Everything works great except the unit will randomly switch out of CarPlay mode and back into the main menu. It is easy to get it back to CarPlay mode, just a hassle. I also would have like a better mountable harness for the accessory/charging USB connector. This gets me away from using the cigarette lighter adapters but just has a loose cable hanging around. I would have loved to be able to use the 2nd USB cable (seems to be only for USB connect CarPlay) so that I could run an accessory/charging USB connector to the back seats with a mountable harness.

So far so good

Easy installation thanks to Crutchfield. The volume knob is what appealed the most before buying. It is a tiny bit too small for the opening in my 2014 Crosstrek Hybrid, but doesn't look bad at all.

I wouldnt use it if it was free. Terrible programming of functions

I'll be sending this one back. I haven't even had it for two weeks yet. Perhaps a KENWOOD for a replacement. DO NOT BUY THIS! (Crutchfield? Why are you still selling it?) It is not possible to exit SOURCES screen unless BLUETOOTH is paired. So while playing AM/FM the HOME button just toggles back and forth between the SOURCES screen and the tuner screen. Radio asks for Bluetooth pairing when already paired. Sometimes three times in a row. Previous to today, June 5, android auto worked google maps. Streaming and phone are OK. But no maps. No signal for the power antenna up/down. When selecting the BLUETOOTH icon on the left, the phone screen comes on. Today the radio arbitrarily came on by itself several times. The HOME button sometimes acts as a "back" button, but never to a home screen (APP screen maybe?) Having to remove the entire center console in order to remove the radio/HVAC panel is difficult. Now I get to do it again to get rid of this Jensen.

Bad software.

Terrible device. Android auto starts and disconnects / stops working after 20 seconds ish. Works fine for a few weeks after a reset or a few resets. But then happens again. Obvious memory overflow, terrible software. Buy something else. Wish I could return this.

Good radio overall

Works great, however, the screen brightness is not match for direct sunlight. Nonetheless it works well. I have not fully ran the radio through all the paces, but it was relatively easy to figure out. Connects easily both wirelessly and corded with both ? and Android devices.

Half the price of competitors but double the features

Amazing product. Wired AND WIRELESS Apple Carplay work exceptionally. Sun glare is a small issue but isn't too bad. The touchscreen is fast and responsive. I also appreciate that it comes with a 10 band equalizer. I would say best budget because of it's price. however given the unit's features Nothing in it's price range comes close to the quality of this unit. This Jenson headunit is better than headunits owned by my friends that cost double to triple the price. Overall you won't be disappointed. Great product.

Does exactly what it needs to. I didn't have a single issue with wiring and power up, some people complain about boot times. It is no slower than my 24 rogue demo from work, also do the firmware update while testing unit.

Not worth the hassle

Purchased despite the negative reviews. Had many of the problems listed. Blank screen, randomly changed stations, dropped off apple car play. Crutchfield customer service was great. Arranged return and helped me order a different better unit.

Old Man needs a Volume Knob

Replaced Sony AX5000 with this new Jensen model CAR723W Three things helped me make the switch. 1. Cordless Apple car play 2. Actual Volume knob 3. Instant mute button easily reached by driver. Issues: The install kit for 2007 Tundra (Metra 99-8220), did not accept the factory mounted trim ring. Thus forcing the use of the install kit Trim Ring, which wasn't the best fit. Mike in Tech support helped me with best alignment. Overall take: Awesome sound , Good eq functions, wi-fi, & Nav Automatic pick up of Apple Car Play. Pairs to two phones simultaneously Mutes immediately. Then there's the volume knob. Not big but easy to reach and when pushed you get that EVER PRESENT EAVES DROPPING TATTLETALE.

Easy, awesome and affordable

I absolutely love this system and it has really improved my driving experience. After reading some of the reviews, I started to get discouraged that this might be a cheap and not well built system, but that has not been the case. I held back writing this review for a few weeks so I could give a more well rounded review of my experience with this product. It was easy to install, setup and use. I highly recommend the ready harness service to anyone who doesn't have experience wiring a car stereo. It made installation even easier and took out the variable of me messing up the wiring and causing issues with my experience. I'm not sure if any of the more negative reviews used the ready harness service, but I haven't had a single issue with this system. My wireless CarPlay automatically connects every time and never loses connection during a drive. The microphone works as well as I'd expect from a mic that needs to be run through your car and affixed somewhere that it can hear you and not pickup the background noise of your call. I always try to take negative reviews into consideration, but I also understand that some people's bad experience may be of their own making due to lack of experience or an inability to follow directions. I bought a $250 system and have been blown away at the value I got for my money. Highly recommend all around!

Great Unit with Continuous Firmware Updates

This receiver has been a great upgrade for my 2001 Ford F-150 XLT. I originally thought I wanted wireless CarPlay but in reality, I always plug in my phone when driving so I end up using wired CarPlay exclusively. However, I also experienced the spotty wireless CarPlay other reviews talk about, but since I go wired it's not an issue for me. Jensen seems to be pretty active with firmware updates too. I've already applied two different firmware updates in the 45 days I've owned it. The last update improved the touchscreen response time tremendously to the point it's just as good, if not better, than my 2022 Honda Passport OEM screen. The firmware update also changed the Safety Notice screen to disappear automatically after 3 seconds, whereas before it would not go away until you hit "Accept" on the screen or activated the backup camera. The Screen colors are great including the backup camera image. It sounds great with stock speakers, but I've got new speakers on order from Crutchfield. The included microphone works well, and my wife says the call quality is good when I call her from the truck. Another cool feature is when you adjust the volume (via the physical knob!) a button briefly shows on the screen giving you the option to go directly to the 10-band EQ settings without having to go through the menu options to find it. All-in-all, I feel like this unit is perfect for what I wanted, which was CarPlay, touchscreen, a volume knob, and a nice fit in the dash.

This unit is feature packed, under priced and doesn't work. I just purchased this unit, believing that they don't carry junk here on this site. Well I was sorely disappointed last week when i had this head unit installed, professionally installed by a audio installer (30y experience, solder connections, whole 9 yards, KnuKoncepts wire, etc.). This unit will jump from CarPlay to Am/Fm radio, loose contact with the phone, launch google maps with destinations pre selected to random places, dont drive near cell towers it will shut off. Not sure why this is, but i would avoid this unit at all costs! Just pick something else or test it out BEFORE you install it!!! I have been into car audio since 1987, I've had Cerwin Vega's , powered by their Coustic 380 and 190 amps, then started to show my Honda CRX Si (87') in LA Lowrider show, and other audio specific competitions in the late 80's early 90's, had a sponsor and was running a Sony 7400 pull out (see Picture) with 10 disc CD changer (A20 & 30)Rockford Fosgate, 2 Punch 150's, XV1 crossover, PA1, RTA1 (real time analyzer and adjuster), MB Quart 215 series and other MB Quart highs, 1" Ti dome tweeters etc, so i know what I am talking about, not new to this.... By the way this unit is so new, there is no unit owners manual, barley any info besides the quick start supplement to get you started, so beginners be warned.... DO NOT BUY this UNIT..... IMO. Good Luck!

Returned it. Bluetooth connection was unreliable, distracting and frustrating. Thankfully 60 day return policy saved me. Thank you Crutchfield, I'm going to select a different product.

So many glitches for one unit!

Like a lot of people here have confirmed: this unit was very glitchy. I installed it in my wife's car. The first thing we noticed was that the audio from handsfree mic is pretty bad. You have to yell to be heard, and even then the person on the other line can barely make out what was being said. In my case, the mic was mounted above the head unit, about 3 feet away from the driver's mouth. Next, the unit has a terrible time holding a steady connection to a phone, even when the iPhone (model 10) is attached via USB. The volume know also acts as a the Siri button. However the knob gets stuck when you push it in, so you have to pull it back out when you are done speaking. AND THEN, the unit will just reboot itself randomly from time to time. The staff at Crutchfield were very understanding, and I am returning this one in exchange for a different model.

Nice Unit when phone connection works

I like the unit, if it worked constantly. Both wireless and wired Apple Car Play and Android out drops connection every few minutes. Tried different devices, different cables but still seems to happen all the time :(

Radio was not working, they do not have available unit for return. I send them the unit and agreed to receive the money back. I buy a radio in other store. When they receive the unit they said that they send me a new unit and now they do not want to send my money back. For a mistake that they make.

We're sorry for the miscommunication, Harry. It looks like we had set up a replacement for the radio that didn't work originally, instead of a refund. This radio came into stock and was shipped to Harry. One of our helpful international ambassadors, Marlon, helped explain that we needed to have that replacement sent back to us before a refund could be provided. Marlon set up the return, which includes prepaid shipping labels to get the radio back promptly, so Harry can get his refund quicker.

Avoid this product.

Excellent customer service from Crutchfield, but a bad product. The wireless Apple Carplay drops all the time, and has to reconnect. It's incredibly annoying. Radio reception is noticeably worse than stock radio, plus it has this annoying habit of just randomly changing radio stations with no warning. I think this product is bad enough that Crutchfield should remove it from their products, or at least mention that it doesn't work as advertised. Save yourself the time and money and get one of the Boss radios like I did.

OK considering the price.

Bought this for my daughter's car and had Crutchfield do the wiring (which was excellent). The install was pretty easy and for the price it sounds/looks pretty good. Responsiveness leaves a but to be desired and she complains that it occasionally goes black and takes some time to restart, which isn't ideal when using it with CarPlay for navigation. Connected to a Boyo backup camera and it seems that Jensen and Boyo were both reversing the feed (with no Jensen setting to fix it). So, it was backwards from what would be expected, but luckily the Boyo has a wire to cut to not reverse the image. As-is probably 3.5 stars overall.

why does it restart randomly?!

I use this for navigation on my sales job, and the apple car play just drops out audio, then the screen on the head unit goes black, flashes back to the units main menu, then proceeds to go black before everything comes back. havent timed it, but this is about a 15-20 second process, leaving me blind to directions in some complicated highway interchanges. this is an intermittent problem that is happening 2-3x a day. Besides that fault, everything else with this head unit is great. the audio quality is great for the price. the touch screen is snappy in the response to touch, although touching on screen prompts near the edge of the screen does take a little getting use to.

I like the radio so far, good sound, works good with my phone, set up was easy. I wish there was an easier way to have the CarPlay menu up and not have music playing, I don't usually listen to music unless on longer trips. I use my phone and navigation more. For the money it's a pretty nice unit and I can definitely recommend it for someone it wanting to spend $1200 on a radio

Great value but lacks polish

This is a tremendous value for the price and a great way to get wireless CarPlay into a vehicle. As expected for the price point, some of the controls in the unit's software are a little unpolished, but the CarPlay function works well for me. It is worth noting that while the key button color can be changed, I have not found a way to set a custom color and have had to make due with one of the preset lighting colors that matches my vehicle the closest.
