I do not understand the good reviews of this unit. Unless you need the cheapest headunit you can find save a bit more and go with one of the more expensive units available. I would have returned but I threw away all the packaging. The only positive thing is that Crutchfield service is second to none. I've bought from them before and will continue to do so.
Pros: Crutchfield service is one of the best in the industry
Cons: Headunit is not good.

Gets the job done.
Jesse from KYLE, TX on 6/24/2023
1991 Jeep Cherokee
Don't expect this unit to blow your mind BUT for the price point, it gets the job done. I can now easily stream music on a 2001 Jeep XJ, which was really all I was asking out of a stereo. My only real complaint is I wish the display would tell me what song is currently playing. Also maybe a midrange EQ. It's just bass and treble. I also upgraded the speakers with 4 Kicker 46CSC54's and added a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD amp/subwoofer combo and as a whole I'm beyond satisfied with the improvement in audio. I also bypassed the OEM amp and the whole system is plenty loud.
Pros: Bluetooth streaming, easy pairing.
Cons: Limited display functionally, only 2 EQ bands that can be adjusted.

Budget radio for work truck

Got the least expensive in dash radio I could for an old 4x4 work truck Wanted a Bluetooth option to play Pandora because I hate commercials and it does the trick. As advertised. Only drawback is sound seems diminished from OEM. I may upgrade speakers to give myself something nicer to enjoy, but that's not on the radio.
Pros: Bluetooth
Cons: Can't complain. Got what I paid for.

A well balanced drop in for older jeeps.
Jay from San Antonio, TX on 6/5/2023
1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
A great drop in replacement for my 98 grand Cherokee. Modernizes it just a bit by letting me use Bluetooth, Aux (my phone still has one) and USB thumb drives.
Pros: 1. Bluetooth, Aux, and USB. 2. 5 groups of 6 radio presets. (See Cons #2) 3. Built in Mic
Cons: 1. There is 1 knob on the device used for volume. This makes tuning the AM/FM radio is a bit of a chore and almost unsafe to do when driving. 2. The preset radio stations force you to swap between multiple "bands" of FM. 3. Instructions in Manual for setting time is incorrect both in the manual in box and on the manufacturers website. It claims you use the radio tuner buttons after holding down the DISP button but ypu actually use the volume knob.

Decent machine for the price
Rebecca from Germantown, MD on 3/30/2023
2015 Ram Promaster
The radio dials feel a bit cheap and the FM doesn't catch frequencies that the old radio would even with the antenna attachment securely in place. (Interestingly, FM2 will find some stations on search that FM1 won't...can't explain that phenomenom.) The bluetooth works well thus far and connects when I enter the vehicle. I couldn't find any paperwork with the bluetooth connection code on it, but I figured it out eventually. The deck is simple to install - purchase the wiring harness; it's worth it. I do wish the radio would pick up stations properly. Thankful for the bluetooth.
Pros: bluetooth, look
Cons: antenna

Good for the price, hopefully it doesn't break!
Justin from Coronado, CA on 3/10/2023
2001 Toyota Tacoma
Bought this because it was the cheapest option to get Bluetooth in my '01 Taco. First install off the factory harness I got alternator noise, changed grounds and got more noise from the antenna, got an antenna filter and got more noise this time from the unit being installed and grounding itself onto the mounting brackets as far as I could tell. I put some spacers on the mounting brackets and now it works fine. Otherwise, it works good as a Bluetooth receiver and okay as an AM/FM radio, the signal seems to be slightly weaker than the original radio in the truck. The volume knob is very cheap feeling and I am already afraid that I will accidentally break it off at some point by operating it without care, it shakes around a little in it's housing if you move it laterally. Overall you get what you paid for and I am happy to have Bluetooth in the truck now for $50.
Pros: Price, Bluetooth Integration
Cons: No dimmer on display for night, lots of grounding issues to work around, cheap volume knob

Product display failed eight months after I installed it. While it is still under warranty, you will need to ship the unit at your own cost. Very Good - Happy with it
Crutchfield customer from WESTERVILLE, OH on 3/2/2023
1991 Toyota Camry LE
Works great. Couple installation tips, though, for others if you have a 30 plus year old car like me (91 Camry). Make sure you do not inadvertently ground (via radio bracket installation screws, thence to steel vehicle chassis) the external steel case of the radio. Without going into detail, if the external metal case of the radio case is grounded, there will be a ground loop and you will hear alternator whine, and other interference on the speakers. So, isolate the metal radio case from the vehicle chassis. If you do that, works perfectly (I had to do it; I had a ground loop if case was grounded). Also, old cars have stray voltages. In my installation, I have a stray voltage of 0.65 volts on the switched (red) accessory wire on the vehicle harness. That small stray voltage is enough to prevent the radio from turning off as it should because that red wire is a logic wire and thus is looking for exactly ZERO volts when you shut car off as the trigger to shut off the radio. So, if you have problems with shut off (like I had), check your vehicle wiring harness and make sure that the voltage on your harness drops to zero at key off. In my case, to solve the issue and avoid fixing the car harness, I just used the accessory wire from vehicle to power a small relay and then used relay contacts (which open for sure of course) to carry the 12 volt signal on to the radio...no big deal and key is 0.65 volts will not trigger. Other than foregoing radio tests out perfectly, no issues.

1997 Honda Civic
It pairs with Bluetooth very easily using 1234 as the code (see your owners manual). The FM presets are simple, the controls are simple, and the menus are straight forward. The highs are a bit shrill unfortunately, the only reason I give it 4/5, and with only basic bass and treble controls you can't really tune it out with precision so I turned the treble down. It seems to lack a dimmer function so be prepared for that on long drives. I paid under $60 and it's going into a shared family/guest Honda Civic so I have no complaints. Very easy to install thanks to Crutchfield's cables, connectors, and excellent documentation.
Pros: Simple buttons and menus, great price
Cons: No dimmer, shrill highs and upper mids

Inexpensive, But Not Cheap
Michael from Elm City, NC on 10/3/2022

I was looking for an inexpensive AM/FM radio for my old Volkswagen, I don't drive it very much but when I do, I want some tunes. After getting a piece of junk off of another retailer, I decided to look on Crutchfield. And boy am I glad I did. This is a great little unit, with an excellent tuner, both AM and FM. Something about cruising in my Bug, listening to the oldies station on AM just feels right. It also has Bluetooth for connecting my Ipod when I want something different. Lots of presets and enough audio settings to find one that sounds good to you, and sufficient power to drive four speakers. All in a single DIN package that'll fit most anywhere. Even in a '73 Super Beetle. Jensen was a big name in car audio when I was a teenager, back in the '70s. It's good to see that they put out quality products. Now if I still had my old set of Triaxials, I'd see what this thing can do...

Good cheap stereo, but good. Bluetooth is good, but I miss the component that tells you song information on the unit. It does not do this.
Pros: Sounds good. Easy install. Bluetooth.
Cons: No Bluetooth information on stereo display.

Product was shipped very quickly, with all the necessary components. It worked immediately, and was able to pair to my phone seamlessly. When calling through Bluetooth, the person on the other line said I sounded clear. The audio quality has improved too, over the factory stereo. I'll be ordering door speakers to replace the OEM ones after the experience I've had with Crutchfield.
Pros: Very affordable Works flawlessly out of box Very easy to install
Cons: Haven't used it long enough to have cons. I wanted a radio with Bluetooth, and I had a budget. Time will tell if this was a wise purchase. Initial impressions have me hopeful.

Radio installed with minimal issues. Who ever installed the prior radio, just cut the wires and wrapped everything in multiple layers of tape. Was a pain to unwrap and clean up the mess. I used crimp connectors, heat shrink and tie wraps to clean everything up. I did not disconnect the car battery before playing with the wires and blew a fuse. Radio performs as advertised. Sound quality is clear and Blue Tooth was easy to set up. I am not sure what to do with the remote, probably not a good idea to use while driving.
Pros: Easy install, works as advertised
Cons: If you have memory stick installed, it always starts up playing on the stick even if you were listening to FM when last shut down.

Great unit, very easy install. Does just what was expected of it. Only fault is the instructions say to use the station up/down arrows to set the time and bass/treble, etc. This did not work, it was actually the volume knob. Not a Crutchfield issue, but a Jensen issue

Radio stays on after turning key off. Double checked that the wiring was correct. Even tried swapping the battery 12v and acc 12v wires, it would shut off correctly then but lose all radio presets. Also have to reset the radio every time to connect to bluetooth. It's supposed to constantly send out a bluetooth signal but that's not the case. Will be returning this one.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Stays on Must reset to connect back to bluetooth

It's wired wrong internally. If I wire it as described in the instructions it doesn't turn off with the ignition and has to be paired every time. If I swap the ignition and full hot wires, it turns off with the ignition but all audio settings (fader, bass, treble, etc.) are forgotten. Warranty requires repacking and mailing it back. Nope.
Pros: Basically works, price
Cons: Doesn't work correctly.

Bought this as a cheap solution for the not loud enough stock radio in my 2007 Mazda 3. As it is a commuter car that I don't want to put a lot of money into, this radio fit the bill. It Installs like any other radio I've done. My complaints are that there is no option to dim the radio and that the usb will not play music from an iPhone. Blutooth seems to be good so far and is definitely louder than the stock radio.

It is a nice little unit and does what it was intended to do, for the money$$. I had a few little speed bumps installing it, but managed to get it done. The first was trying to get the plastic trim ring off, to use the bracket keys to separate the head unit from the installation bracket. the second was getting the antenna cable to stay connected(this unit is much shorter than my old unit. Was easy to install in my pt. But as others have mentioned the light from the unit is really bright at night. It can get annoying. It goes up to 40volume but I feel like the system could def go louder. Just stock speakers and a cheap powered sub. For the price this unit did its job as I needed something w Bluetooth connect. Maybe a Dud? But not Good.
Crutchfield customer from N. ID on 12/21/2021
2003 Subaru Legacy
Please note that this review is of the receiver and NOT of Crutchfield's AWESOME Customer Support! Bought this to install in an '03 Subaru Legacy. I soldered the included harness adapter to the Jensen's harness and plugged everything in. To make it fit, I removed the outer bezel (?) piece and it replaced the stock single DIN stereo w/out an issue. I tested it withe key On engine Off and it sounded....OK, not great, but the sound was just OK. The next morning I started the car to drive to work...and I could hear the buzzing/whining sound from the Jensen. I confirmed it was just the receiver, as I turned off the receiver and the noise disappeared. It was RPM dependent and didn't matter whether I used Bluetooth or the radio. I called Crutchfield tech support and they commented that Subarus needed an extra good ground. About 15 minutes later the tech called me back and stated they'd ALSO ship out (NO COST) an Inline Power Noise Suppressor for the 12v power to the receiver. I installed the suppressor, added a 2nd ground and the noise was still there, but less. I also noticed (before and after the suppressor was installed) that the receiver would continue to operate after I turned off the key. Not normal operation for this model Subaru. And Yes, I had the yellow wires and red wires properly connected. So, I returned it and the suppressor, installed a slightly better used Pioneer, and the sound is (much) better and no whining at all.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Possible whine/feedback; power issues?
