Great basic factory radio replacement

Just needed the basics to replace a factory head unit and this did the trick. Ample sound and power. Only annoying thing is the display resets to a scrolling view of the potential input sources but not a big deal. Bluetooth connection works great and the built in mic for using the handsfree calling is good. The included mounting / dash kit is very attractive and added a cubby for more storage. Overall am very satisfied.

Overall, this Jensen stereo is great for my old occasional-use truck. Pros: It has more power than the factory Ford it replaces. The price was good, especially with the free installation kit Crutchfield provides. The bluetooth connection and hands-free calling works. I was able to mostly match the green lighting in the truck. Cons: The tuner could be better, both AM and FM (primary reason for only 3 stars). The buttons feel on the cheap side and the labeling is smallish for my older eyes.

2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I purchased the Jensen MPR2121 to replace the dead radio in my 2002 Ford F250. I wanted something inexpensive, but with great reviews from other customers, and super simple to operate. I have an Alpine CDE-172BT in another vehicle, and every time I want to change a setting or pair my phone, I have to get the user's manual out. The Alpine has a ton more options than this Jensen, but it is no way near as user friendly. The Jensen MPR2121 is super intuitive and easy to change settings on the fly. It just has basic BASS and TREBLE settings (which I really like), or you can choose from a handful of preset settings (rock, classical, pop, etc.). Super easy to pair my phone and recognizes my phone immediately when I get back in the truck. I also like that I could change the display color to match the color of the other lights in my dash. But if you choose a custom color using the J-link app, and want to dim the display for night driving, as soon as you hit the DIM button, the color reverts to one of the basic color settings (red, green, blue, white, etc.). The basic green color setting matches the lights in my dash close enough, so that's where I will leave it set. The J-Link app is pretty basic, but works well for the few functions that this radio has. This is the 7th head unit that I've purchase from Crutchfield, and so far, it is hands down my favorite. Controls and settings are basic and intuitive, and I was really impressed with the sound through my stock speakers!
Pros: Very basic controls that are intuitive and easy to adjust on the fly. Customizable display colors. Pairs easily. J-Link app easy to use. Impressive sound for a budget stereo. 3-year warranty with online registration.
Cons: Minor gripe - If you choose a custom display color using the J-Link app, and press the DIM button for night driving, the color will default back to one of the preset RGB colors. So I just leave it on the preset green and it matches my dash light pretty close.

Buy ANYTHING Besides This!

2002 Ford Focus ZX3
Delivered to my house 10/25/2023, started breaking 16 months later. All speaker pre-outs would shut down, I'd turn the unit off, back on, have music for 3 - 10 minutes and repeat. During the time the speakers were off the subwoofer pre-outs would stay active, so it would just play drums. I'd also like to add, that for the last year I've been trying to figure out why the audio was just TERRIBLE. Well, I just dropped a different head unit into my existing system and everything is great now. So: -Terrible audio through speakers or pre-outs. -Short life span of less than 2 years. -Tiny slippery little control knob -Bluetooth stays active even when unit is off, so if you warm your car in the driveway and can't figure out why your phone doesn't work, its the Jensen stereo that's off, but still connecting to your phone :( +1 star because the Bluetooth connects very fast and seems reliable +1 star for the color display tunability, I find it necessary to match my display to the rest of the car interior lights. In summary, I wish I'd spent the extra $30-40 the first time, but at least I had all the install gear and adapters on hand from the last install.

The radio generates a high pitch whine, directly proportional to the engine RPM. Crutchfield was very helpful, trying to solve the problem. First with troubleshooting the wiring, then sending me two different types of filters. Nothing helped. I ended up having to buy a different radio.

AM radio section not good

Not bad for most people, but for this application, we wanted to be able to listen to AM stations more times than not, and the AM section of the unit is not good. Verified it was not the speakers or the antennae. It would tune to the station, but at a seemingly random timeframe (every few or several seconds), it sounds as if someone is turning the tone control from one extreme to the other. This is quite annoying, as you would guess, and much of the time it makes the audio / words you are hearing unintelligible. Thought it might be just a bad unit; got Jensen to send me a new one, and IT DID THE SAME THING. FM reception did not have the problem. Also, I remember a few times when it did not turn on with the vehicle's key for some reason, but by some luck got it to power up by some key sequence or something.

Good inexpensive radio for an upgrade from stock. I don't want or need anything fancy. It'd be nice if you can get a cheaper CD player, but whatever......The bluetooth works well. The Jenson app, however, does NOT WORK at all. I installed both versions, and I get an "app keeps crashing" notice, but that has nothing to do with Crutchfield. Installation was extremely easy, the plug and play harness really makes it plug and play. The install kit gives you everything you need with good instructions. The radio is a little hard to see, depending on the light conditions. The buttons are pretty small and a little hard to find to change the channel, but it's something you can get used to.

Excellent customer service! I had one that didn't work and Crutchfield had a new one delivered to me in 2 days with the best customer service I have ever had. Once I did get this unit installed it is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to setup, Bluetooth works flawlessly.The power this unit holds is more than adequate for my Ford Ranger super cab. It was a little hard to see the numbers and writing on the face while setting up but once I grew accustomed to the face it's easy to change stations, or other settings as wanted while in traffic. For the price and quality it can't be beat in my opinion.
Pros: Inexpensive,easy setup Bluetooth and powerful.
Cons: First unit didn't work but as stated excellent customer service at Crutchfield!

This is an excellent upgrade to an older vehicle radio. Crutchfield provided great guidance and support for swapping out my factory radio to this unit. So far the Jensen has been excellent for bluetooth music streaming and phone calls. Hard to argue with the performance at this price, would highly recommend!

Pros: Small and compact stereo with Bluetooth, just what the wife wanted. Highly recommend for that older vehicle.
Cons: For such a small unit, controls are a little hard to get though. The Jensen app helped set the display color and stations in both FM and AM.

*Installed in 86 Cutlass Supreme Brougham Coupe* Install almost as quick as plug an play (45 mins). Made my factory speakers sound a lot louder than factory radio ever could. Max volume is 40. Antenna also better than factory radio. Bluetooth hook right up. After turning my car off an on repeatedly, attempting to make this radio forget the connection, it still connect with my phone with no problem. BTW, I did grab all the recommended accessories to make install very easy and quick. I think you should too. Delivery was expeditious and I was updated daily via text. Thanks Crutchfield ????

This is an economy solution to the no bluetooth problem. Really can't complain. For the money you get bluetooth, aux, and usb along with a sub output. The only thing I don't like about it is not being able to control what color the backlighting is. There's an app for it but I can't get it to work. Has good sound quality and bluetooth connects well. Would reccomend to anyone that want's a cheap solution.

Flawless connection, and connects as soon you turn on the car without the delay of display fanfare from other head units. If you pay for Crutchfield's ready harness service, make sure you plug the harness all the way in (the first time I plugged it in, only one speaker had sound until I made sure it was all the way in) Other than that, unless you DBDrag it has a nice sound output. NOTE: I bought it for a 2005 Sienna and it looks beautifully like a factory radio.

I have a 2006 Beetle convertible, and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on something that could more easily be stolen--but I also wanted something nice too. I've had this a month and am very happy! I *LOVE* the beautiful colored lights--and when a call comes in, the face-lights *flash* simultaneously to let you know there's an incoming call (if maybe your cell is on 'silent'). I went ahead and spent the extra $24.99 from Crutchfield to get the wiring harness done & sent to me--WOW, and it was worth EVERY PENNY. My husband had this installed in less than 30 minutes. I truthfully didn't need much--just something to play my Spotify lists, and the Monsoon system the car came with was awful--this is a GREAT upgrade from that! Like someone else said, the only "bad" thing is the mic for if you want hands-free calls. It is dismal at best for whoever you're talking to, to be able to hear you. I could hear my friends just fine, but my friends said it was static-y and spotty when they were listening to me. So, I don't do many calls while driving anyways, so I'm ok :). Would buy again!

Decent replacement radio for the price. FM stations (local stations) want to fade out badly which is annoying but otherwise a good radio with many features.
Pros: Easy installation. Easy to program and adjust audio levels. Blue tooth connection to phone Radio face has several different backlight colors to choose from. Inexpensive replacement radio.
Cons: Does not pick up FM stations well. Clock turns off when unit is off so if you don't want to listen to radio or phone but want to see the time you have to just turn the volume down to minimum level to keep the time on the screen.

I have bought a bunch of head units over the years, while this is not the best, it does exactly what I need it too. Cheap. Bluetooth connects right sounds pretty good and looks decent. If you need a head unit on a budget this is definitely a great option!

Great head unit for the price. Do be aware, you cannot listen to music from your phone through the USB port on this unit. That was a bit of a surprise for me, but ultimately my fault since I didnt read well enough. Overall it looks nice and is pretty simple. Hard to beat for the price.

I was just looking at prices for a replacement head unit for my 02 Yukon. The factory radio had a short in it and the sound would cut out randomly. I saw this Jensen for $60 and liked the price, then I scrolled down and saw Crutchfield throwing in all the installation accessories for FREE ($43 worth) when I buy the head unit so I bought it right then. I didn't expect too much for the price but it surprised me with good sound quality and the Bluetooth connects quicker than the Pioneer (much more expensive) unit in my last vehicle. It does have it limitations like only one phone saved in Bluetooth, limited EQ options, no crossover management, and no text showing what song, etc. is playing through Bluetooth. You can still select songs, answer and send calls (it will display the phone number calling), but just says BT Audio or shows the clock when using it for music. Despite the set backs, you can't beat the price or sound quality despite lack of sound adjustments. For those looking, it does have 3 sets of pre outs for adding external amplication (front, rear, sub x2). Good unit for the price but Crutchfield's deal with the free dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter makes it impossible to pass up! First purchase from here but will definitely will buy from again! Thank you Crutchfield!!!

The old Alpine died as I was renovating the pontoon boat. Got this one in two days, installed it in the same DIN space the old one was in. It does all the things the description says it will - so I can't ask any more of it.

You're going to get what you pay for with this product. I bought it because I simply needed something with Bluetooth that would make it easier for me to listen to music and make phone calls. Unfortunately, the microphone on this stereo is trash. Every time I tried to call somebody, I had to switch to a different Bluetooth device so that people could actually understand what I was saying. Then, the unit died after less than one year. Spend a few extra dollars and get something that will actually work.

Worked great for about 7 months, then the unit shuts off. The only way to reset it was to pull the radio fuse to cycle the power to get it to come alive again. But that only last about a few weeks then it cuts out again. I'm tired of cycling the power so I'll be replacing this radio soon.

Installation was difficult as the mounting holes in the casing were small and needed to be bored out. Whole unit feels extremely cheap, buttons felt like they would break in a few months. I like weekend AM programs and the reception was garbage. Spent another $20 on another brand and quality was significantly superior to this Jensen unit. Bluetooth and FM worked fine if that's all you need.

1989 Ford Ranger
I have an old Ford Ranger, and didn't want to spend much on a stereo that provides a bluetooth connection, and this was exactly what I was looking for. The free/slow shipping option was nice, and it only took a few days to get to me from across the country. Installation was super easy, though I have a fair amount of experience with that sort of thing. And the unit works perfectly!

Bought this to use with my new system. The Audio guys that were going to install it told me it was a piece of crap and would last about a week with my new speakers, they would blow it out. So now I have to wait longer to get my speakers installed and need to pay for a better more expensive receiver. I guess you get what you pay for. Will be returning it if possible.

1996 Ford F Series
1996 F150 replacement - see note following. Easy to use and bluetooth to phone is nice using spotify. It fits the need but wont blow your neighbors away with noise - OEM sound levels with nice modern day features. Ability to choose a light color is nice so you have the ability to match the OEM gauge light color is a nice feature. No dimmer wire provision and brightness adjustment is by dim button on unit. THIS WOULD BE A 5 Star for category/price point - although - see note below NOTE: this unit comes with a tray that fit rite in without needing the adapter. It also comes with two release keys for future removal There is no room for the keys to be inserted or slots in faceplate! I had to flatten our the locking tabs on the tray so it would not lock in place. There is enough resistance due to a snug fit its not going to flop out anyway. IF this is not done the unit will be there with no way of getting out for future maintenance, addition of a sub or replacement. The OEM Speakers on this old truck sound like one is broken, one is soggy and other two are full of mud. Being this is only about 17 watts I have ordered low end Kicker speakers as they have good range and sensitivity. historically these have worked great with OEM Radios so should be fine.
Pros: great low price radio with modern day features. RCA jacks for future amp if desired faceplate color selection facilitates a color matching OEM Dash lighting.
Cons: no provision for tray removal key access requiring tray modification (easy) must use dim button on unit - no provision for dimming with dash lights on this one.

I ordered this product on January 7, 2022, after having some difficulty with my car's built-in stereo. I installed it on January 16 with some assistance from Crutchfield's tech support, and it worked marvelously, but only for about 10 months. Earlier this November, I turned my car on and noticed that the stereo was entirely off. I tried different buttons to get it to restart and even took the car to my mechanic to check if the fuses were an issue, and was told the issue was with the stereo. He was surprised, as I was, that a stereo would not even last a year. I really wanted to like this product. I've been so busy with work and life recently that it took me a while to write this review and now I'm upset that I have to buy another stereo and do the process again.

No complaints. I got sent the wrong instructions but after a few calls to Crutchfield super easy install on my 04 tundra. Bluetooth is reliable, usb charges faster than my cigarette lighter outlet. The built in mic isn't the best but for the price it's solid.

I've had nothing but issues with the radio. First I could only listen to a radio station for 5 minutes and then just reciev e static. Verified all the connections and checked and verified a good ground. Now I can't use anything but bluetooth. If I touch any other button beside volume and source the unit turns off and is really difficult to power back on. Not happy with this unit at all. I'd give it zero stars if I could.
Pros: Bluetooth works great, as long as no other buttons are touched.
Cons: Everything else. Turn the dash apart multiple times to trouble shoot the unit.

I nice little head unit for the price that's easy to use and navigate, the only issue I have and others might is that it's under powered. I expected it for the price but keep in mind this is only pushing 40 Watts over 4 channels. If you want some good speakers you might need to run a separate amp in order to get them up to RMS.

It is good for someone who is just starting in the audio it's fairly easy to Install just some quick soldering and it is loud enough. It's a great addition to add Bluetooth to your car which you would otherwise have to use fm and a transmitter which doesn't work as well. The Bluetooth connects right away and the eq system makes the bass a lot better using stock speakers. I recommend it for teenagers who can't afford a really nice one but still wanna jam out in their car withought the trouble of setting up complex wiring. The back also has plugs for subwoofers and speakers for all corners of the car.

Quick and easy setup.The wiring diagram was easy to follow so connections were right on. Receiver has great sound quality and receives a number of fm stations in this broadcast deprived area. Controls are easy to navigate and I like being able to choose display colors. The only negative I don't like is having to select "display" each time the unit is turned on in order to see the clock. Otherwise it is a great receiver for the price.

this little compact unit definitely has a good amplifier inside, volume gets easier louder than some cheap units, the no name ones off amazon and ebay, i'd say it's a lot easier to use also, the color changing is important to me so i can match my vehicles dash color when illuminated, i actually installed this in a Honda S-MX from Japan, i stall was very easy

I bought this in February. easy install, good features, great price. Put it in my Cherokee and it worked great. Last month the reception went to heck, occasionally good enough to listen to (like sitting in my driveway), but mostly going down the road reception is poor to none. I've checked the antenna connection/cable and it is good. At the end of the day, it is a total waste of time and money

Performance exceeds the $60 price point. A really nice unit; functional, some neat features, and I'm satisfied with the audio performance even though the FM tuner isn't quite as sensitive as I'd hoped. Still, we're a ways from most radio station towers, and this went in an older Wrangler, so I wasn't looking for audiophile quality. That said, I'd buy another one of these in a minute. Perfect for my application!

Just Stopped Working

2003 Honda Element
Stopped working a little after two months, right after the Crutchfield return policy expired. Crutchfield worked with me and that's one of the reasons I do all my electronic shopping here. This radio's built in microphone was subpar, over all I would have given it probably 4 stars considering it's price and performance. When a product stops working after two months, yeah it gets 1 star. Even with Crutchfield working with me, I'm out installation money, not to mention time. From now on I will stick with Kenwood. Pioneer, and Alpine. I know anything can happen at anytime, but I've never had an issue with a car stereo until this one, so yeah I have a bad taste in my mouth with Jensen.

Needed a basic bluetooth head unit for my daughter's first car. Unit sounds good, bluetooth works but is very basic. Doesn't display the song title or anything, just 'Bluetooth' or the time. Also, the radio doesn't 'remember' what bluetooth devices have connected to it, just the last one so if more than one person is using the car you need to re-connect the other phone manually.
Pros: Good sound, good basic functionality, economical.

A great radio for the money. Considering the price and what you get for it, it can't be beat. Is it a perfect radio? No. But at for the price, it's awesome. The only negatives I have are the buttons for the radio are small (I am hoping to get used to it) and it's a little under-powered in Blue Tooth mode. Other than that, like I said, for the money, you will not be disappointed.

Bought the Jensen MPR2121 for my son because he wanted bluetooth capability for his Buick Lacrosse 2007 to play playlists off his iPhone..He loves the stereo sound and the animated colors that rotate and the ability to pick also choose static lighted colors that don't rotate using the Jensen Mobile app. I high recommend getting the ready harness.. otherwise you might need a soldering gun and wire strippers. The ready harness made it super fast and easy to install ourselves. Great Crutchfield tech support too!
Pros: Great Sound, nice upgrade over factory model and the ability to change the lighted colors with the Jensen app is cool too. Crutchfield tech support is awesome as well. We had to call since it was our first time removing and installing a car stereo.

I would stay away from this radio. I received it as a gift and it broke in just under 4 months after install. I contacted support to see if the warranty would cover it and was told I would have to pay the 15$ shipping to them and wouldn't even be guaranteed to get a working product after.
Pros: Easy to install with the free wiring kit from Crutchfield.
Cons: - Felt extremely cheap, everything on the front was plastic, the buttons felt horrible and floppy, and the wheel wouldn't register properly turning at more than a snails pace. - Broke in a surprisingly little amount of time. - Acting on their 2 year warranty requires the buyer paying for shipping without a guarantee of them actually approving it.

Bought this to replace the stock radio in my 2012 Chevrolet Colorado because I wanted an affordable, no frills radio that would gain me Bluetooth streaming capability in my daily driver. Entirely worth the extra $10 over the MPR2110 model just for the dimmable lighting if you drive at night at all (I found out the hard way but Crutchfield made the exchange quick and painless, shoutout and 5-stars to Paul). Also was able to install this using the included instructions with zero prior experience in car audio, and so far.no smoke! Another note on this model vs the 2110, considering the price I would imagine both radios are in the same tier in terms of build quality, but the MPR2121 seems to have considerably less alternator whine than its cheaper cousin.

These guys have it figured out. Enter your car, and they tell you exactly what you need for an easy install. This seriously couldn't have been easier. Works perfectly - fit up was perfect - wiring was perfect. I got the little twist connectors for wiring and it was super simple. Installed in under an hour and sounds great. I will be back.

Hard to beat the options you get for this price point. Bluetooth has successfully connected every time quickly and stays connected. I like that I was able to install in my early 90s gm without the radio sticking out from the dash like we used to have to do.
Pros: This size makes an easy install. Price. Display color can match any dash lighting.

Seems to have pretty good FM reception but there's several antennas tried and I will zero AM perception. Initially Bluetooth connected easily, but then it dropped. Had to do a factory reset to reestablish the Bluetooth connection. Features seem to be my pretty much as advertised and the controls are fairly straightforward.

I've had this radio for approximately a month and have had no issues this far. Bluetooth connects seamlessly every time I start my car. I didn't have the factory Ford adapter and was still able to wire this up and get it working first try. RGB is a nice touch as well and it can be customized.
Pros: Bluetooth - easy to set up - very low latency for watching videos - connects instantaneously Customizable RGB display - JLink app works well Very easy to install Balancers, EQs, and bass/treble boosters all work well as expected
Cons: Only con is that sometimes while the RGB display is automatically just cycling through the colors it seems to just flash a random color in the middle of transitioning colors. Example - one time it flashed green while changing from dark blue to purple. It flashed just less than a second though so not that big of an issue.
