I only gave 4 stars because on the install I could only get 2 screws in after a lot trying different ways. Other than that little glitch, I am really pleased with the sound from them. As a side note, my sound bar on my 98 Sahara is original from factory and I did not have to use the supplied wire harness.

Great, inexpensive, upgrade to my resto-mod 1962-bodied C-5 Corvette Convertible. I had installed a Kenwood Excelon DNX697S radio / Metra DP-3021B Dash Kit but was disappointed with the sound from the Bosch OEM rear speakers. Despite advice from the internet boards that it wasn't worth changing out the rears because the folded convertible top muffled the sound, I figured for $40 bucks and 1/2 hour of time, it was worth it. Thanks to the Crutchfield advisor , we picked these speakers as a good match to the front speakers (Alpine S2-S65C / Metra 82-3013 Corvette Speaker Mounting Brackets), I had installed in the factory door-mounting spot. I'm a just "You-tube mechanic" and felt comfortable taking on these upgrades thanks to Crutchfield's written instructions and high-quality advisors. Crutchfield is the best !
Pros: Easy , inexpensive, great support.
Cons: None !

Great budget option. Way better than the old stock 2010 Mazda 3 speakers. If you want a bit more bass, I'd recommend something slightly bigger. The bracket that fits these into the oval hole worked perfectly. Speakers came with everything I needed and didn't need the install kit I bought.
Pros: cheap and good quality
Cons: Mids and highs great, bass lacking a bit; however, they are not designed for that. Might go full door size for a bit better bass

I should have updated speakers years ago in my 2013 Ford F150. These speakers are excellent and work exactly as described with the accesses. Crutchfield provides materials that are needed to install these speakers. Sound quality is stellar; lots of clarity in the speakers. While I would like more bass, the bass output is solid too. These speakers work very well with the factory stereo and are a nice, but not break the bank upgrade!

Paul from Schaumburg, IL on 2/19/2023
2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
Before I bought these speakers I read a ton of reviews. All of them said "not bad no bass" First off. The speaker is tiny. I wasn't expecting any bass. That's why I have a sub. After having these in my car for over a week I'll say this. They're amazing. The quality and clarity are fantastic especially for the price. My sub doesn't drown out that's speakers at all. As long as you tune your eq on the radio right and kick down the bass they will never distort. I'm powering these with a crappy pioneer avh 120bt. The radio is cheap and feels cheap but the kenwoods give me a premium sound. These were one of Crutchfield's recommendations. This is the best place to buy car audio hands down.

Helped me fall in love with my car again
Damon from STERLING, VA on 5/25/2021
2010 Mazda 3
My Mazdaspeed 3 hatch is over 10 years old. It is still running strong, and I love not having a car payment. The Bose system is installed in this vehicle, which is a little bit of a curse. One of the cheap Bose paper speakers blew out, and driving became dreadful. For the price of replacing a single OEM speaker, I could get a set of 4 of these speakers and replace all of the door woofers. I didn't feel the need to replace the entire system. These Kenwood KFC-1366S speakers sound very crisp. I'm very happy with them. Crutchfield's shipping was ridiculously fast. These speakers have terrific clarity, but do not offer much low end. That is to be expected, and why I purchased an amp/sub combo for the storage area. I love these speakers, great sound at a great price.

Crutchfield customer from Midland, MI on 3/3/2021
2013 Ford F-150 XLT
Much better than the speakers I had in my truck. I don't know what kind I had, just that they were blown out and had the Ford logo on them. I only got the pair for my front doors, but will be getting another set for the back doors because they do sound a lot better. They don't seem to have a lot of bass, but I didn't expect them to either. Definitely worth their price.
Pros: Clear, Easy Install, Great Price

put four in my daughters 05 Honda Civic. Two in back deck and the other two went in the front doors. They sound good! She was just looking for some basic speakers to listen to some tunes. I like them and for the price I'd recommend them. The recommended adapter kits worked perfectly!
Pros: everything you needed to hook them up was supplied
Cons: not perfectly plug and play for installation, but good enough.

Speakers sparkle
Crutchfield customer from Laurel, MD on 12/15/2020
1994 Toyota T100
Clear, crisp midrange response from these budget speakers. They blend well with my truck's pillar-mounted tweeters and behind-the-seat subwoofer. 1994 Yota Trucks are noisy so high fidelity isn't even possible in this environment but these speakers fit in the door and do the job. Bonus! Crutchfield supplied free plastic mounting brackets and wiring connectors - a nice touch! Oh, and I bought a modern Pioneer receiver two years ago from CF for bluetooth, aux, phone use. Saved the old cassette player... ya never know.
Pros: They fit! Free wiring & speaker mounts. Nice, clear sound.

2018 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen
Installed a pair in the rear doors of a 2018 VW Golf Sportwagen and didn't think the improvement in sound quality over the factory speakers was worth the installation of a second pair in the front doors. Maybe there was a bit more clarity in the sound of these, but the complete lack of bass diminishes the overall listening experience. In short, I wish I hadn't bothered.

These were a near-perfect fit for the doors on my daughter's car. Nice low-profile design means they fit nicely beneath the OEM door grilles. Sound is okay with a little less low-end than I prefer, but they're being driven by the 1994 OEM am/fm/cassette head unit, so it might be a garbage in/garbage out scenario. Overall, they're a great speaker for the money and a good match for our application.

Little Speakers, Little Price, Big Improvement
Crutchfield customer from Portland, OR on 10/8/2020
I replaced the factory speakers in my 1993 Ford Ranger with Kenwood KFC-1366s both front and rear, and the improvement in sound quality was significant. These may not be the most powerful or expensive speakers, but their overall quality and value makes them a perfect upgrade from factory speakers. With adapters, they fit perfectly, were very easy to install, and were well worth the investment.
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, fit perfectly with adapters, sound great, super upgrade over factory speakers.

Speakers work well and sound good but the sound is pretty heave on the mids and highs. I would think that this is due to the size of the speakers and it is not a design flaw. The website listed this size speaker for my vehicle but when I got them and did the install, the speakers in the vehicle are much bigger. So as a result of the speaker change, I have lost a lot of mid bass and low bass in my vehicle that i had before the change.

Good Hype, Hollow Performance First, the Crutchfield Experience, when I bought these was 5 Stars+. Everything I needed was included in separate packaging. It made the entire speaker swap, easy and fast. I changed out one door at a time and was extremely disappointed between the sound range of the OEM and this Kenwood. The OEM, sounded better. So I opened everything up and checked my work. Nope. The sound had less range in the mid/low frequencies, and was less clean at high dB. I am disappointed. But they were inexpensive.
Pros: Inexpensive EZ Install
Cons: Less frequency range than OEM Less clean at higher dBs than OEM

Clear sound, but NO bass
Guest from Chicago, IL on 6/28/2020
1969 Ford Thunderbird
Replacing original stereo system in my classic car. Installed a pair of these Kenwood 5 1/4" in the rear and a dual coil 4"X 10" in the dash powered with 25 watts RMS to each. They sound good and have good mid range, but there is hardly any low end (bass). If I increase the bass, I get a muddy sound which becomes more distorted at higher volumes. I'll be purchasing a powered sub (probably the Sound Ordinace B-8PTD) for bass and capping these Kenwoods at 80-100Hz.
Pros: Clean sound and good mid range even with low powered systems. Inexpensive.
Cons: No bass below 100Hz. If the stereo is tuned for more bass, you start to "muddy" up the mid range.

Too thin of wire and a joke of 12" of it.
Guest from LA, CA on 4/17/2020
I've been installing car stereos for over 40 years and it seems that every time I get new speakers the wire they use is thinner and shorter. These speakers come with only a 12" wire, so that means you either buy your own with the correct ends to attach to the speakers or splice in one to the end of theirs and then to the end of the one coming out of the stereo. Two splices per post for a total of 8 splices and 12 different wires. Also the wire is the thinnest I've ever seen. I'm guessing the sound is suffering if you are using it. Don't.
Pros:
Cons: Super thin speaker wire. Only 12" long so what good is it?

Great quality, clear and loud. Acoustics are outstanding and the range is pretty good. Had a little difficulty mounting them to my car door because the brackets even were just slightly too small for my door and didn't even line up with the brackets I have on the door already. But I eventually found a way to get them on there and haven't dealt had an issue with them since. Can't go wrong for the price just prepare to possibly battle a little bit with mounting them, lol.
Pros: Quality sound. Fair pricing. Comes with what you need.
Cons: Not exact fit. Instructions unclear and kinda confusing with unnecessary steps.

Replaced RV Speakers
Crutchfield customer from Wareham, MA on 6/12/2019
Excellent sounding speakers at an affordable price. I purchased these to replace a blown stock speaker in my RV (2018 Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite). The sound upgrade is 100x better. The only downside is that I had to purchase a drum sanding kit to widen the wholes in the ceiling to accommodate them...I thought the whole would be wide enough based on the cutout diameter listed for these compared against the old ones but it was not.
Pros: Sound is excellent for the price. Easy to install.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Better than oem factory quality
Crutchfield customer from North Carolina on 4/22/2019
2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Order them, no worries. Perfect fit and easy install with included connectors and mount. 5-10 min get the door panels free and unplug connectors for door controls and a minute or so to install the speaker. Had a factory speaker popping so just wanted a stock equivalent. These are crisp and clear and on par or better than the factory speakers overall. Not a lot of bass but same with factory speaker. Was tempted to go with the 6 1/2 for a little more bass but didnt care enough for a few more minutes of drilling new holes. Not a teenager trying to impress traffic so I just hoped these would be a quick, inexpensive fix to get sound back to factory quality. Fortunately they are a little better and the factory sound was quite good with the exception of the blown speaker. Very pleased. I was only going to give 4 stars due to the bass not being stellar but then I reminded myself it's a 5 1/4 speaker so that would be unfair. After the experience with the quick service, included mounting hardware and instructions i would never purchase audio anywhere else .
Pros: Price, ease of install, crutchfield makes it easy
Cons: Bass about the same as factory

Didn't Quite do the Job for my Application
Taylor from Grand Ledge, MI on 5/31/2018
2010 Mazda 3
In the correct application, I'm sure these would make decent speakers. For the price, mids and highs were well defined, but things begin to fall apart at lower frequencies. I don't believe it's an issue with quality, so much as the size of these speakers. They have significantly less surface area when compared to the approximately 5.5 X 7.5 speakers that came stock with my Mazda 3. Compared to the stock speakers, they just didn't have the oomph to make a kick drum come alive, and when I tried to push the poor things, the bottom end started to lose definition while still failing to deliver a well rounded "immersive" sound. I'm far from a bass head (I'm running the stock head unit, which has an EQ with a range of -6 to +6, and I usually stick between -3 and -4 in the bass register), and just would like to clarify that I'm not expecting sub-woofer performance. As an economy car, the Mazda 3 doesn't have the greatest road isolation, and a speaker has to work hard to overcome ambient noise - these ones can't cut it. Additional details - I mainly listen to progressive rock/metal (Pink Floyd, Rush, TOOL, etc.). I was able to find aftermarket speakers which exactly matched the stock speaker sizing in my vehicle, and I'm more than impressed with them. I don't believe there's a quality issue with these Kenwoods, it's just important to make sure they're sized correctly for your needs (in my opinion, they need to be supplemented by a system with other larger speakers in the mix).
Pros: Well defined mids and highs for the price.
Cons: Need to be complemented by larger speakers for a full sound.

Clear but a bit quiet. But way better than stock!
Jim from San Antonio, TX on 5/6/2018
2003 Ford F-150
I bought this for my 2003 Ford F 150 Supercrew and it after a few views online and the accompanied MasterSheet, it was pretty straight forward in getting the back door panels off. The only thing is that the instructions didn't say to take off the speaker or the speaker harness, so I did the harness to find that I only needed to take off the speaker itself. I can say that the supplied brackets and wiring harness made the wiring a breeze. No splicing required and it was all free. Very awesome service. The speakers are ok. I looked at the cheapest available, because anything would be better than stock so I got 5 and 1/4 for all around. The base is not really there, but the clarity is. Not too bad. I may opt for a 6x8 for the fronts to add some bass to the setup.
Pros: Easy install with the supplied bracket and also wiring harness.
Cons: No bass to speak of on these.

Not sure what measuring system Kenwood uses, but this set is barely bigger than 4" rear wrx door speakers. I guess the loophole is long mounting tabs. Not sure how Kenwood came up with 45hz on the lower end with these??? Not even close. And finally, these should be removed from fitment with 2002 wrx's (with the included adapter plates). The pic shows the air gap all around the frame. Very disappointed.
Pros: They are affordable.
Cons: You get what you pay for

Eric from Darnestown, MD on 3/8/2018
2005 Jeep Liberty
The speaker sound great and were very easy to install. The only issue we had which turned out to be a fairly major issue was that the original factory speakers came with individual amplifiers attached to the frame of the speaker. These did not have a mounting point for the amplifiers. In order to make the speakers work with the factory system, I had to install the amplifiers in a remote location and run wires to them. Not an easy job for an office, but worth the price of entry for these speakers.
Pros: They sound pretty good for the dollar value
Cons: The factory speakers had an individual amplifier on each speaker. In order to make the speakers work for the factory system, the amplifiers had to be remotely located. This involved wiring drilling and a lot of tight space work.
