Lower sound quality for the Shaker 500 system

For my 2010 Mustang with the Shaker 500 system I just couldn't get a good sound. Even with help from Crutchfield's techs on EQ settings sound was less quality than the stock system. Exchanging for excelon system to see if there is improvement. I really wanted this to work, good price point.

Jeep Cherokee 2015

I feel that the touch screen response to access settings or any other feature is little slow and even phone connectivity on wireless is slow as well. I have not tried connecting via USB. The brightness level max is 4. I cannot adjust any brighter than that. But, that's just my personal preference. But otherwise, pretty good radio unit. The Radio fitment was great. I had few difficulties with installing and understanding instruction But the technical support was outstanding. Big thanks to tech support team.

I did it!

It took me, a complete novice, about 25 hours to do. I had to be very careful to follow the schematic, and constantly rechecked. On questions still lingering, I called for tech support about four or five times. They were absolutely superb! Unit works as advertised. Couldn't have possibly done it on my own, but it happened with good tech support

Would buy again

It works great in Lexus 430sc I wish it had more knobs for controls. That's what I'm use to using. So in time it probably will be Great ?? The guy who installed it did a Great job

Decent, but has its Flaws

Head unit is very responsive and feels good to the touch. Unit also sounds very good with many EQ settings to mess with. You cannot hold the volume Up or Down buttons. You must tap them for each adjustment and they are not physical buttons. This makes it hard to adjust volume while driving. The head unit also disconnects from Android Auto everytime I hit pause on the screen.

great tech support

Over all a very good system , the problem's I had were , it came needing soft were up dates , still having problem finding a computer to do them on . I payed for pre wiring , think you should also do up dates , causing me problems & extra cost . The print in user manual is so small , herd to read . But you tech support is 5 stars , very helpful & short wait times .

Kenwood DMX5710S

Had a couple pioneers in the last decade and figured I'd try something new. The menus are difficult to navigate, the volume buttons are hard to accurately press and holding it down does not progressively control the sound quickly. Have to taptaptaptaotap There is a good bit of lag between functions even skipping a song takes a couple seconds. Should have went with a pioneer.

The Kenwood DMX8710S is a great system. The reason for the 4 stars, it seems like the off/on is not sensitive enough. All of the others seem to respond ok, but the off/on does not. Sometimes have to touch it several times.

not so good

Kenwood failed on this one. The GUI is laggy and locks up at times. I've had to shut the car off on a half dozen occasions to reboot the system as it became totally unresponsive. The Bluetooth/Airplay sometimes does not connect and sometimes just drops out. The screen resolution is also not that good but I didn't expect too much as this a lower end unit. I will be contacting Crutchfield about this in hopes to exchange for a better option.

Radio skipping changing channel

It took awhile to get installed, but once installed I had issues with GPS would not hold its direction in Maps ,and MIC it would not let me do speech text it would cut me off and or change all my word in the 1st 30 sec of my text. Also have issues with the radio skipping channel without even touching the radio. Called tech support and was told there was a software upgrade upgrade which I did . this seem to help with GPS and speech to text, but not the radio skipping Changing Radio station for no reason. something is off in the programming with in the radio just can not figure it out. has anyone else had or have this problem? But Radio does look great and is working beside the radio skipping

good radio the vehicle interface with the data link is good. more options then factory and having guages is a plus, great sound quality wireless connection is fast stable and strong, only problem found was touch screen/head unit is bit laggy but when using vehicles control its perfectly fine

Horrible

Touch screen is nice, easy to read and navigate. Nice sound but reception is horrible. Radio and satellite go in and out. Unit restarts randomly and the android is horrible and won't connect half the time so the screen just flashes on and off while it trys to connect. Would not recommend

Great sounding head unit at a decent price

Responsive unit that sounds great. It fit in my old 2004 Chevy Trailblazer perfectly with the supplied wiring that Crutchfield provide. Made the job really easy to install. If you're on the fence about a floating screen but want to get a decent brand unit that sounds good and won't cost you an arm and a leg, then I'd recommend this one.

Great, read, read, read the installation instructions!

Better than factory. Much more difficult than installing radios 15 years ago, lol. I strongly suggest reading ALL the instructions several times. Go over the correct Maestro programming parts you will need. I needed to hook up a "radio off" wire directly to a green wire on my factory harness in order for my 2025 Nissan Versa's backup camera to function. Double check which harness adaptor you need to purchase, as I did get the correct one, but there was another, very similar, but had opposite polarity which might have destroyed my new radio.

Don't buy.

The shipping was Fast. . but unlike the shipping. I am greatly disappointed. After reading the reviews I thought I got myself a good deck. .. it lags. Freezes. Disconnects randomly. . I wouldn't recommend this product at all. And unfortunately, I am currently looking to buy a new deck because nothing is more frustrating then bumping and your deck kicks off mid song.

Don't do it.

Difficult to switch between presets, and the phone interface has an echo that I can't figure out. I don't recommend this.

Exceptional Company

First off I will say the customer service for Crutchfield is top notch. Jamie, the customer service representative was and is the best ( loved her southern accent), she helped me from the very start and ended with me being a gracious and loyal customer for life. Long story short, she helped me with a shipping details error, corrected it, then sent replacement promptly. As for the Kenwood reciever I purchased, it is top of the line and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I think this is a awesome unit for my s550 mustang 3.7 as it had a base sound system in it with a 4 inch screen. Big difference on features as well being able to send text messages digitally while driving using Google assistant. And screen mirroring is also a bonus. Love how I have full control on how I want the system to sound. Thank you crutchfield !

The radio looks like really good quality a nice sleek look when I first wired it up I believe I had a DUD because went through all the steps to try to get it to turn on and wooden. Crutchfield was great and warranty. Me one immediately have not got to put in yet. Hopefully this was just a fluke.

Ok but not what I expected

Small screen size compared to others in the same category seem much larger in terms of actual visibility. Would return for another Kenwood that matches the harnesses i have but not sure how. Hard to navigate menu and fm presets do not change by a simple click on sterring wheel or even in the unit itself.

Great support easy install

My install went well. 1st timer here. Mounting bracket was slightly too big had to cut 1/8th inch off top and bottom to fit in din hole. Spent about 30min with Ben@crutchfield to figure it out. After that it was plug and play. Instructions are very generic and it would be nicer to have more specifics....didn't have to do several things which the instructions said...which just made it easier. Back up camer was easy and straight forward as well with watching YouTube vid 1st. Very happy with everything, saved me 250$ doing it myself.

This is a quality unit!

The DMX5710S is a very nice unit. I was surprised how responsive the touch screen is, even when the outside temperature is -16° F. Setup of the radio presets is easy. The three ways to tune the radio, make it very easy to get your favorite stations selected. I am not sure but I think there are more presets than one could ever want. The switch from Android Radio to the Kenwood receiver is fast. Installation was not difficult using the cables supplied to connect the unit to my 2013 Honda Civic. The Maestro portion of the system was straight forward. I did connect to the factory data link. I put the wires in a section of split loom for protection. Also they were tie strapped to the sheet metal for the dash assembly. To get the steering wheel controls to work I had to cut a wire to the factory Bluetooth module and connect to a lead from the supplied harness. This lead was also put into a section of split loom for protection. The supplied microphone was not used as there is one in the Kennwood. The GPs module was fastened to the top of the unit's chassis with double sided tape. The USB harness was routed to the glove box. The Kenwood plus Maestro is a great choice for the price. The folks at Crutchfield were able to answer my presales questions. The Maestro support staff also were a great help with some install questions.

Best radio!

This things is awesome! It has a mic in the front and work great in my 2014 mustang without the premium system(basic system). What I mean by mic in the front, it is on the radio and I did not use the external one supplied with the radio. Also for anyone in the similar situation (2014 mustang with the basic stereo system) the plug that is on the factory ac knobs is not used when you use this radio and the meastro system. I used the recommended parts by crutchfield and it was freaking easy! Just don't press the button on the meastro module or else you will reset it and will have to reflash.which was what happened to me!
