What a great unit. Plenty of power, great sound, beautiful display. I really like the wireless Android Auto. Also, this has actual buttons to push, not just a touchscreen. Very nice!

Sounds awesome and love the functionality... Until things stop functioning. 1.5 years into it and radio tuner stops working. Climate control stopped working 6 months ago, but to be fair, maybe related to the Mistro. Don't know. I will think twice about getting another Kenwood.

Not a great purchase

Installed less then a year ango and has developed a screen issue. A lightened/ whitish area has appeared in the center and continues to get larger. Screen has horrible visibility when in direct sunlight. Radio also likes to drop apple wireless connection randomly. Long time Kenwood user, very disappointed with this radio

Wireless is the way to go!!!

I'm so glad I spent the extra money on the wireless CarPlay option. The actual buttons along the bottom are so much better than touch only ones as well! I'm sure I will enjoy this unit for years to come! Now I have to get some new speakers to go along with it!

Great head unit, Love wireless AA/Carplay

I cannot give 5 stars to any head unit that does not have a physical volume knob. Despite how responsive the up and down volume buttons are, it is not nearly as useful as a rotating knob. That said, this is otherwise an outstanding head unit, especially at this price. It does everything you need it to do (unless you need physical media). For most of us, we just want to connect to Android Auto or Apple Carplay and go. I love that this is wireless so that I don't even need to fish my phone out of my pocket unless I want to put it on the charger. Screens and menus are easy to navigate once you get a feel for where everything is. It's also nice that Kenwood maintains a fairly consistent user interface across their current lineup, so that it's easy to find what I'm looking for between the multiple vehicles I have with Kenwood head units. Buttons and screen presses are responsive and the unit connects with the vehicle almost seamlessly. All steering wheel functions work perfectly with the optional Maestro unit.

Decent, but sometimes frustrating, upgrade for my old Vette.

I love my 1996 Corvette but the factory AM/FM cassette and speakers weren't making me happy. I installed this Kenwood and some new speakers to not only get better sound but to also get modern features like phone connectivity/Android Auto. I needed a short chassis (to fit my car without cutting), wireless Android Auto, and a robust USB file reading capability. I first got a JVC KW-M785BW which ticked the first two boxes but was sub-par with USB files - it has a hard limit of 250 folders for music and that didn't work for me. This Kenwood IS significantly more expensive but it has almost limitless USB file reading capability. But it's otherwise WAY overkill for me: I don't need RCA pre-outs, I don't need a lot of the fancier features, but in today's car stereo world, if you like to listen to MP3s on a thumb drive, you have to pay for these features whether you want them or not. I wish I could get better USB ability with the cheaper stereo since it otherwise does everything I need, I mean a Pioneer I put in a car in 2016 had better USB ability than that thing - and it's 2024 now. I know not many of us listen to mp3s on a thumb drive anymore but still. The unit works well and sounds great. I like having the hard buttons for volume, mute, menu, etc and I can change their color to match my car's lighting which is nice. I wanted to upload a custom background screen, again to better match my car, and I did but it doesn't display them correctly - it shows them zoomed in fo

Great Upgrade

Great upgrade, sounds great, easy to install. Any connection you're going to need is there. 1st. Wireless Android Auto. Now hate my other 2 cars (not really). But it is very nice to be completely wireless!!!

Kenwood DMX9708S

I installed this in a 2017 Nissan Rogue SL with the Bose and Nav package. My Rogue has cameras in the front, back and side mirrors and I was able to retain complete functionality of all of them with the Maestro gizmos that the website recommended. The only hiccup during installation was finding the right wires to splice into behind the glove box. Luckily Crutchfield's tech support gave me exactly what I needed. Upon installation, it did take a few minutes before all the cameras became functional, but once they did, they worked immediately on the button presses as one would expect. This is a pretty awesome head unit, but the real star of the show is the tech support. If car stereo installation isn't your job, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed when things (inevitably) don't go exactly as the directions indicate. When that happens, it's great to be able to talk to someone who knows how to help and is willing to walk you through any ambiguities.

I bought two of them!

I got this for my 15 Xterra with RF factory system, then liked it so much I put another one in my 06 Miata with Bose factory system. I've purchased about a dozen head units from Crutchfield over the years and this one is the best. Specifically purchased this for combo of wireless CarPlay, custom button color to match interior, and optimally placed volume keys that are easy to use.

I like the appearance of the display. Touchscreen works well. However when trying to use the weather widget, it doesn't load anything. The unit also drops the bluetooth quite often and the microphone is not great.

2014 nissan frontier

Been installed for 2 days. So far, so good! Spent more money for installment then I wanted to, I also bought the extra recommended harness, and wires, but needed extra wires, extra screws, cleaning up everything. But everything works good, including vehicles gauges, ie. tire pressure, door open, rpm, speed, fuel. Wasn't sure if my steering wheel controls and back up camera would work, they both do! Car play is awesome, hooks right when vehicle is turned on. Spend the extra money, definitely worth it!

A lot of features for a "mid-range" double din.

Bought this Kenwood DMX9708S to replace a dated Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX. First off, finally wireless CarPlay! And it's also quick to connect. I usually auto-start my vehicle and my phone will automatically connect when I'm near the car (I have to manually connect with the Pioneer AVIC-W8600NEX that's currently on my other vehicle). Having a smaller depth radio makes it easier to put back in the already small center console. The camera button is a great feature so I no longer need to wire a relay/switch to switch between front/rear camera or long press to activate. The UI feels snappy. While in CarPlay, I can hit the menu button and it will show a drop down fairly quickly to some settings/options without needing to go back to Kenwood's home screen. Not having navigation anymore isn't so bad since I have CarPlay and it's installed in a car that won't need it (i.e. offroading/off grid). And even though the screen isn't "HD" the screen is so small that it doesn't matter. One thing for sure though, whenever shopping for a DD, make sure it has a capacitive touchscreen. Kenwood is a great brand to go with just the onboard features, even better if paired with a Maestro RR, my car is a 2007 G35 that unfortunately can't utilize it for the extra features, but my 2019 4Runner could definitely benefit from it and I may replace the more expensive Pioneer for this Kenwood model.

Well Done Kenwood!

I enjoy the simplicity of the operations on the display yet the I'm able to go as detailed on each function in the sub menus. I'm a Android Auto and I-pod music user . Kenwood makes it so easy to use both at the same time. (maps while listening to music) I have utilized only two of the 4 camera ports. I'm planning buying another DMX9708S for my 2012 F250. This upgrade spoils me and I don't want to be without.

Screen to Dim

Screen is way to dim. I live in Arizona where it is always sunny, the screen is always drown out by the sunlight even when not hitting it directly. I have adjusted the brightness, contrast, viewing angle etc... with no noticeable difference. The image quality overall is not very sharp. I have owned Kenwood products in the past from the Excelon series and was happy, guess I should have spent the extra money.

After having issues with a refurbished previous year Kenwood head unit I asked if I could just pay a little extra to switch to this. Wow, amazing from the start. Very responsive and looks beautiful. The sound was much better than the previous year models that I had in. Thanks Crutchfield for getting through this wild process with me, I am extremely happy it ended up leading me to this item.

Bought this DMX9708s after leaving my beloved DDX9905s in a previous vehicle I traded in and realizing how much I missed my Kenwood head unit. So far the 9708s has been great. I've yet to use it but I really like that this unit has an hdmi input. And even though my Pixel 6 Pro doesn't play nice with the mirroring features that's an issue with the phone not the receiver. I have an S22 on the way that should enable me to make use of the mirroring features. I've tried both Android Auto and Apple Car Play wired and wireless and both work flawlessly for me.

Awesome Head Unit

This head unit is a great upgrade from my stock radio. Sound quality is easily 10x better than it was. UI is really clean and easy to navigate. Only problem I have is that you can't use Bluetooth Audio and Android Auto simultaneously. All in all a great radio.

Excellent, feature-filled stereo!

This is a well designed stereo. This has more features then I would ever use. But the features that I do work very well. Sound quality is excellent. I have an iPhone, and the wireless Car Play is an unexpectedly nice feature! It is capable of using 5 video inputs (of which I only use one) But the video quality is better than the OEM system did with the camera. I attached the SiriusXM module which worked very well. The display is sharp, and is very easy to look at in the sunlight. The only criticism I have of this is that the button bar at the bottom is very prominent, for my install it sticks out a little too far for my taste, but I could definitely see vehicle installs that may require it.
