DNR1007XR install in F250
Joseph from Alpharetta, GA on 8/17/2023
2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Exceptional features and adjustability. Great sound with factory speakers and amp. Firmware upgrades were easy. Programming settings was a bit of a learning curve but Crutchfield tech support was there to assist. Very pleased with the product so far.
Pros: Size was great with big bright screen. A lot of features and add on options. Fit into OEM dash panel was clean. Sound quality is significantly better than OEM head unit. CarPlay features are the best.
Cons: Phone audio too low. Need to address with tech support. Mounting instructions for specific vehicle should be more clear.

Great product
Crutchfield customer from ALTUS, OK on 6/5/2023
The shipping for this was very fast, it arrived before the expected delivery. The unit is very high quality and works fantastic. The reason only four stars is because it uses Garmin as the navigation engine. The maps and POI's on Garmin never seem to update. They still have all the errors they had 20+ years ago when I gave up on Garmin. This was almost a deal breaker but I will have to live with my purchase. The installation is very straightforward and everything needed for the installation is included. I installed it in my 2008 F-150 it fit perfectly thanks to the many different adjustments that can be made. After installation there were a couple minor hickups. A fast call to Jacob at customer service was all it took to get the unit working properly. Crutchfield customer service is probably the best you will ever get. I have been a customer for many years and they are always right there when needed. All it took to fix my problem was a re-initilization of the head unit. After using the unit for a couple of weeks I find it rather user friendly. There could be some minor tweaking of the firmware but it works just fine. The touch screen works perfectly; as well as any tablet out there. The navigation comes up fast after the first time it boots up. It would be nice if there were more personalization options, like a personal splash screen and being able to us animated gif's.The resolution on the screen is a very high resolution much better than it shows in photos. I do recommend
Pros: There are many pros, too many to list
Cons: Major con is Garmin, why they teamed up with the worst nav engine is sad. the other con is not enough personalization options.

Please read as to my justification to my personal rating of this product. I love this Kenwood player and all the features however, I rated this because of Kenwood's discontinued live traffic/weather feature via the downloadable app. I believe in January of 2023 they discontinued INRIX weather and traffic app that was a 5 year free subscription. Other than that I love this Stereo and all its features and the built in Garmin GPS.
Pros: Built in Garmin GPS, Wireless/wired Apple CarPlay, beautiful HD display, 10.1 inch screen. EQ variety settings. Multiple features
Cons: Discontinued INRIX weather and traffic 5 year subscription (free) that has no substitute or replacement (at least to my knowledge currently).

An excellent refresh for a used car
Justin from Addison, TX on 1/30/2023
2013 Jeep Wrangler
Excellent unit. Touch screen is very responsive, and colors are vibrant. Navigation through menus is easy, and the physical buttons and knob are a plus. With the Maestro RR2, it integrated well into my vehicle and made a 10 year old Jeep feel new. I do wish there were a couple more options for configuration - maybe being able to change the widgets on the home screen, have the home screen map zoom changable, etc. But seems like most of the configuration was put into the custom dash configuration - which is perfectly servicable. Even with the full install kit and custom harnesses, it did take me a couple of hours to install, mostly to verify that everything was getting plugged into the appropriate places by cross-referencing all the manuals and modifing the dash bracket in my vehicle.
Pros: Easy Install Large Screen Responsive Touch Good Navigation Wireless and Wired Android Auto Integrates with OEM Steering Wheel Controls
Cons: Could use more customization Startup could be faster

Creme de la creme. The first thing you notice when you power the unit on for the first time is how incredibly vivid the display screens are. Navigating through the screens is very intuitive and easy. The GPS response time is lightning fast. It has incredible adjustability and customization of all the features. Pretty cool. The only minor downside I saw was it took bit more effort than I was anticipating to adjust the front panel display to the forward position.

Amazing unit I've had this on my truck for over 2 years now bought it new when it first came out. Had some software issues in the beginning but that got ironed out after the first 2 updates. It has worked perfectly ever since. I got everything that I needed for the installation on Crutchfield. This install is a little on the higher end of installs and will take a bit to complete but Crutchfield took all the guess work out of the install with amazing instructions. If I could do it all over again I'll still choose this over all the competition you get what you pay for. Thanks again team at Crutchfield you have a costumer for life with me!!!!!
Pros: Screen size Power Customizability Interface Adaptability Screen adjustment Sound adjustment Boot time Camera support
Cons: Price May block air vents on certain vehicles Complexity if inexperienced

Good Unit / Make sure you really need Navigation
Crutchfield customer from Greenville, SC on 11/7/2022
2006 Toyota Tacoma
I ended up going with this unit after having issues with the DMX1057XR. This unit is the same hardware as the other Kenwood 10" screen units as well as the JVC KW-Z1000W. The addition of the volume knob sets the Kenwood 10" screens apart from the others. I use this feature constantly. Make sure you need the navigation as this will double the time it takes for the software to load - about 15 seconds. One plus is that the reverse camera will turn on immediately if you have it connected. The Garmin navigation works fine but the software and icons are the same as the units you put on your dash 12 years ago. Seems very clunky & antiquated. Garmin updates are only included for 3 years - for the cost of this unit it should be lifetime...
Pros: Carplay Integration Sound Quality / volume knob Phone Quality Screen Size and resolution
Cons: Startup is very slow Garmin software is clunky & antiquated Garmin free updates expire after 3 years

I wanted a large screen satellite based GPS and this fills both requirements and so much more. The add on options are beyond belief. Cameras, vehicle monitoring including tires, engine, transmission etc. Cash and tech support were extremely patient and helpful with the 72 year old DIYer. I highly recommend the product for those going off the main road. I found losing cell service can leave you in a bad spot with cell based GPS. NO SIGNAL, NO MAPPING.
Pros: Meets all my requirements for a large screen, satellite based GPS.
Cons: More options than I can ever use.

WoW, I had Crutchfied put everything together for me, harnesses, data link and so on. the only thing i did was to tie into the truck speakers with my amps. Unbelievable sound, everything works as advertised, steering wheel controls, blue tooth and I use USB mas storage a lot, about 20 days continuous music. GPS is great. can't say anything negative about the system and service. It has been a 100% positive experience. I also installed the viper 5906V to keep everything safe.
Pros: Everything

Doug from Galesburg, Il on 5/22/2022

From the time that I turn on the ignition to I get music is 20 SECONDS!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else have this problem? Does the Kenwood 1057 take this long to load? I don't know why I got the navigation, if the 1057 loads faster and has the same features as the 1007 (besides Garmin navigation), I'll go that route, I can use my map app!
Pros: Music sounds great.
Cons: Irritating splash screen during music play. Can't pivot the unit sideways towards user.

Motor homes beware

2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis Cab
Installed in 2018 Sprinter motor home. Installation assistance was great. Sound is amazing after pairing with a couple JL Audio speakers. Looks fantastic once installed. Found a couple downfalls with the GPS. First it cannot be voice accessed. What Garmin doesn't voice activate and requires manual programming? I also was lead to believe you could place limitations based on vehicle size. The only way to do that is if you install the unit in a bus that has a vehicle data connection to the Kenwood. These things are pretty important for motor home owners, so I would not recommend the unit with a high profile or a weight concern for bridges. This information is not in the basic instructions on Crutchfield site and is only is discovered after purchasing and downloading the specific unit manual from Garmin. So will still need my Garmin 770 GPS to help prevent unwanted incidents. Sorry Kenwood /Garmin you still need to make improvements. I would love to hear I am incorrect and missing something to make this expensive and sophisticated unit an awesome fit, but so far I have not found anything to the contrary.
Pros: Sound is great Screen size is bright and clear Support is great from Crutchfield
Cons: GPS is not voice programmable Subscription services needed for traffic and maps Cannot place limitations on routing based on vehicle size Not recommending for motor home users Steering wheel control instructions can be challenging

Not Convinced - Poor Service from Both Kenwood and Crutchfield
Stephan from Frisco, TX on 3/25/2022
2008 Ford F-150
I wrote a 3-page review but found out am limited to 1,500 characters so here is the gist of it. Lifelong Alpine customer but switched to Kenwood due to low resolution of iLX-F411 unit. DNR1007XR was delivered 8 months later and installed at high-end installer who handle Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley. Played soft music at low volume for about 20 minutes and started smelling burning plastic. Called local installer who checked wiring and think it may be a coating used by Kenwood to increase the display lifespan. Called Crutchfield to get information about warranty, was told to call Kenwood. Called Kenwood, was told to call Crutchfield. Called Crutchfield back, was told to call Kenwood back. NEVER had this runaround with Alpine in all the 25 years using their head units. 3 Alpine head units installed in 2 other F-150s and a Fusion with zero issues. Crutchfield Support even said that to get weather data to display would need to call SiriusXM since they stream data to the unit. Wrong! Already have Sirius subscription and added this unit to the account, still no weather data which is actually from an app called INRIX. Will I buy this unit again? Yes. Do I recommend switching from Alpine to Kenwood, not a snowball's chance in ..... Do I need the latest and greatest of everything, no. Do I expect a 2K head unit to perform right out of the box, absolutely. Do I trust Crutchfield Support's advice? LOL Good luck!
Pros: - Large display with good resolution - Lots of options and features
Cons: - Burning plastic smell even at low volume, cool weather, and unit does not run hot Android Auto keeps trying to connect to the head unit even when AA is not in use - Bluetooth keeps disconnecting from Galaxy S21 and eventually reconnects but keeps doing it over and over. Deleting saved phones then re-pairing did not resolve the issue

Flagship Headunit - IMO
Daniel from WEST PALM BCH, FL on 2/15/2022
2019 Toyota Camry
After 7 months, it finally came! I am so excited to have this installed in my 2019 Camry SE. For those of you with the same car, you'll be pleased to find the double DIN 'brain' unit fits with the aftermarket dash panel AND the FACTORY metal radio brackets. Paired with the Maestro RR, it retained the SWC no issues, but I was a little disappointed to see the limited OEM settings it retained. In any event, the 10.1 capacitive touchscreen panel is like having an iPad in your dash. High definition, very responsive, and sounds phenomenal. Garmin Nav is on point and easy to use. Very satisfied with this unit!
Pros: High-Def Display, Garmin Nav, 5V pre amp outputs, fits snug, easy to use.
Cons: Screen picks up engine vibration; shudders slightly during driving, screws located in difficult to reach areas, high price point

2006 Honda CRV EX
I love this head unit. It gives me great control over the sound of music. I recommend this head unit if you want to take your system to the next level. Here are my pros and cons about this device below.
Pros: 1. Easy navigation 2. Central control knob 3. Equalizer is pretty good 4. There is detail sound tweeking for professionals 5. Calls are clear over installed head unit mic 6. Screen mirror function is good but response can be a little slow 7. Separate bass control knob so you can dial in the BOOM.
Cons: 1. Very expensive system 2. Noticed random switching from bluetooth to radio by itself 3. Navigation system is ok but since you can screen mirror navigation from your phone this isn't a big deal 4. Mounting looks great from the front but the back is wide open which doesn't look that great from the front of the car. 5. USB charging can be glitchy but its doable

It fit perfectly with little effort. I wasn't crazy about the volume knob in the center which turned out to be one of the best features of the unit since I don't have steering wheel controls. Overall a fantastic unit. I would give it 5 stars, but the installation instructions were not great and lacking many important details. I still cannot seem to figure out if the unit can serve as a Wifi hotspot. There also seems to be a favoritism for Apple products, rather than non-Apple, which is also frustrating. Otherwise, the unit is easy to use, excellent sound, every feature you could wish for and very fast.
Pros: Huge display, excellent graphics, loads of features
Cons: Installation difficult because of lack of instructions, Manual not helpful for programming unit.

Almost...
Crutchfield customer from Cincinnati, OH on 4/6/2021
For this price I really expected more from Kenwood. I remember when $700 got the best unit they made. Flawless. This IS an incredible receiver, but it feels like they stopped just short of perfection. No specific quibbles, aside from Garmin and Android Auto battling from time to time... The navigation on your phone is almost a better fit. I still went this route, for those rare instances where I need yet another redundant GPS source. I recommend saving a few bucks and going with non Nav unit, or even drop down to the Alpine Halo units... I have yet to see one of those in person however. I guess receivers have finally graduated to the realm of all other computer devices...Crap shoot...
Pros: 5 volt outputs, easy to install, great bright screen, always visible.
Cons: Hype... as nice as this unit is, it stops just short of great. Built in Navigation...No longer great. Using your phones GPS is easier, and almost more integrated.

DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT THAT USES THE " INRIX" APP. Don't just take my word for it, go read the INRIX app reviews. And Yes, it's just as terrible as all the reviews state. It will not matter what favorite song your listening too, what beloved family member or best friend your talking to, the INRIX app will completely power off the head unit and attempt to re establish a connection. It's insane. It will incessantly send you push notifications on your phone asking you to connect, log into your account and on and on and on. It doesn't matter if you say yes, tap ignore, it's going to fail and reset your entire system regardless. Really poor KENWOOD. All for data collection on your coustomers. Poor. Stereo sounds great, but it isn't worth it until KENWOOD stops collecting data and gets rid of the worst app in the App Store.

Awesome sounding car stereo
Guest from Gainesville, FL on 12/6/2020
2019 Subaru Outback
I can't say enough about the jaw dropping audio resolution of this car stereo. I am using Amok playlist copy to maintain the music order; I will list few issues below, which can be easily fixed by a firmware update; 1) I wish I read the comments (from here and online) about the "live traffic" feature requiring INRIX traffic app from the phone and I would have saved $400 by purchasing the 1057XR. I hope future buyers are aware of this issue if traffic feature is important for you. I can not believe we have to trust an unreliable phone app to get the traffic information after paying such a premium price. 2) I am using Waze maps to see traffic in my commute area and Android auto (WiFi or wired) works on any newer android phone (turn on "wireless projection" after enabling developer menu in android auto app - Go to About > Scroll to the bottom > Tap "version" 8-10 times until Developer Mode is enabled). 3) USB or SD card root menu to reach music folders takes few clicks from the main menu; while music is playing, you can click on search or album button and the top drop menu appears defaulted to "category list" and you need to change it to "folder list" to access all your music folders (see pictures); While driving it is an unnecessary distraction and I wish there is an easy way to reach to the music folders. On the right side of the music screen there is a sub-menu that lists "+ and - folder icons" which can be used to quickly jump the music
Pros: - Won the EISA award in Europe. - The best sounding car stereo in the market; You will hear new details from your songs never heard before. - Amazing punchy bass with lot of available settings. - The EQ is extremely responsive and you can save 4 presets. - Video resolution is equally good with no lag using touchscreen. - Instant rear view camera while the unit is booting up. - Optional maestro module makes you access the tire pressures on the screen depending on your model.
Cons: - Charges $400 for MAPS which are not great; - Maps not showing traffic by default; - INRIX traffic app has unreliable connection - Traffic alerts are annoying and enabled by default (turn off in the MAPS settings) - Only 3 year map updates; - I recommend buying the 1057XR instead and use the wireless screen mirroring feature for MAPS. - Music folders root menu is difficult to access.

Audiophile DAC in a car stereo
Guest from Miami on 11/26/2020
The three 10" screen Kenwood units DNR1007 (+NAV), DMX1057 (No NAV) and DMX1037S (1 year warranty instead of 2 and 4V pre-out instead of 5V) have the best DAC's in the car audio business with great equalizer and sound setting options. Unless built-in navigation is important for you I would save money and get the other models; I purchased the 1007 for the live traffic feature in the navigation, which only works if you download a Kenwood INRIX traffic app on your smartphone and make sure it is connected every time you start driving. The app fails to connect to the traffic several times and it defeats the purpose of investing extra $400 compared to the wonderful 1057XR model; I am using the wireless android auto (working on my Huawei Mate 20X after enabling wireless mode in developer settings of android auto) with Waze maps (with traffic) for my daily driving routine. The built-in MAPS are much more detailed and great to look at compared to the android version, but I wanted to post my experience that may help other buyers in making a decision.
Pros: Awesome DAC for a car stereo (try with old speakers and amplifier) Great bass output from same old woofers with many bass settings Zero lag for screen operation Instant rear view camera Very fast boot up times (<10 seconds till song plays from starting the engine)
Cons: No live traffic by default in the Garmin navigation.

2016 Chrysler 200
I purchased this unit to upgrade from my Chrysler 200 2016 touch screen display in order to have the newest features like Apple CarPlay, a solid GPS connection provided by Garmin and just appreciate an overall beautiful screen with incredible colors. The display is enormous, but go bug or go home right? It has absolutely helped me fall in love with my car again after Chrysler unfortunately stopped making more of the 200 models. This is one of Kenwood's most premium head units and now I definitely understand why!
Pros: Screen response is fast, no lags in switching from any application, Screen can be tilted in a forward and backward angle to prevent glaring, Apple CarPlay does indeed work wireless, nothing negatively impacted my steering wheel controls
Cons: Once mounted the display to the head unit, remember to install the security plastic bar over the connector as that has a hidden feature once mounted to enable video signal to turn on your display. I had to call Crutchfield as this was entirely missed and Kenwood should do a better job informing lol - It did require some customized work inside the 200 to allow for space to install but no big deal as that was easily cut and the metal plate after a few pulls back and forth finally came off.

Pros: BIG screen, knob for volume control is easy to find while driving, Apple CarPlay works great.
Cons: Pricy

Radio touch is very responsive. All functions and connection sources worked without issue. Is well made with good materials, so much so that i would have perferred metal mounting brackets instead of the plastic the dash kit came with. It was an immediate sound quality improvement over my stock HU which is no surprise, but i was already running aftermarket amps , speakers and DQ61 for factory interface. Was waiting for this one to become available, and i am not dissapointed. I did have to make space in the dash for the install. Radio is great. Love the accuracy of the updated GPS.

Wow - This is a must have

2018 Ram 2500
I've got a pretty high-end JL Audio amplified system with JL subs and speakers in my 2018 Ram Big Horn. I was running this system through the factory Ram 8.4 radio through a JL Audio FIX 86. Although this set-up sounded pretty good, it lacked the 'punch' and crispiness i new this system could deliver. So i set out and almost purchased an Alpine Halo, but learned this Kenwood will retain all factory settings using the iData Link Maestro RR so i waited for the Kenwood and i finally got one from Crutchfield a couple weeks ago and installed it this weekend. All i can say; this Stereo is going to surpass anything out there for a long time.. I know have that great sousing stereo with that 'Punch & Crispiness" i was lauding before and the plus side of this whole package, this screen is apsoutley beautiful. The response is very fast, just as fast as a good tablet, screen resolution is out of the ball park, Kenwood defiantly hit the "Home Run" with this floating head unit. Haven't had a chance to mess wit the NAV to much but the little i did, im am way more pleased with this Garmen NAV vs. the Factory NAV.. This unit retained all factory settings and options including the factory Bed Camera and the factory back up camera with active grid lines. (The Maestro RR is required to meet this). The screen is pretty large, and i'm already appreciating it's massive size. It fits nicely and overlaps the side vent about 1/4 inch or maybe less. Install was not too bad took 3 hours.
Pros: Large High Res Screen, very fast display response, very vivid and bright during the day and lovely at night. The mounting function was well thought out and engineered.. Very factory look.
Cons: The only Con i can come up with was the 9 month wait when announced at SEMA.

Good but could be better.
Crutchfield customer from Saint Charles, MO on 11/1/2020
Screen display is nice. Touchscreen presses work as good as my iPhone which is great Love the on screen controls for sound and how you can easily select which camera is to be shown. Kenwood could have knocked this thing out of the park if they would have added two features which I feel is just a blunder. There is no swivel, only a tilt. The screen sticks out so far from the head unit, which gives it a more industrial look than tech look, they they should have the swivel so the driver can angle towards them. Second, yes it can have four cameras input however only the backup cam has a trigger wire to be automatically activated when put on reverse. They mention it can be used for Left and Right mirror cams however if you read in deeper, you have to buy more expensive gear to get your blinkers to activate the cams automatically. I don't understand why this was not addressed internal to this unit. Switching by touch screen is fast but you are not going to be doing that each time you turn on a blinker.
Pros: Great screen quality. Has a volume knob.
Cons: Expensive No trigger input for side view cams No swivel on screen, just tilt Screen sticks out from unit quite a bit Garmin GPS doesn't have all features of a standalone Garmin and only 3 year free updates.

Ok. First off, this thing almost seems like it was made for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma access cab. It's a thing of beauty. The touch screen is incredibly responsive (better than my previous Excelon or Entune units). Another thing I noticed is that it boots A LOT faster than my previous Excelon Garmin unit. I only have my stock speakers (for now) but this baby sounds amazing. Even the video quality when using the HDMI connections with my iPhone is spectacular. Is it expensive? Sure. Is it worth it? For me it was 100% worth it.

I install this in a 2017 chevy colorado. I've been using it for 2 weeks now so far I'm very pleased. I had a few install issues crutchfield true to there word were right there to help me out. I really like the built-in garmin navigation works great. The wireless android auto works flawlessly. The hi res screen is noticeable from the minute you boot up the unit. Very bright and vibrant. Its an awesome stereo. I would recommend to friend.
Pros: It looks and feels like a high end headunit. the garmin navigation and the wireless android auto.
Cons: It does cover about a half inch of my vents on both sides. I measured the space and did expect that before I order.

2007 Cadillac DTS
Installed easily into my 2007 Cadillac DTS using the iDatalink Maestro module. This is a stunning radio, both visually and sonically. The sound can be tuned in an almost infinite number of ways and when you find the sweet spot your music will give you goosebumps. The massive screen is a delight to use, and the wireless Apple CarPlay works flawlessly. I have seen it do two random reboots, but I'm not too concerned since I expect Kenwood to address this in a future firmware update and the Excelon units carry a two year warranty. As always, the Crutchfield sales experience was unequalled. I am completely satisfied with the entire experience. This radio and Crutchfield are both highly recommended.
Pros: Outstanding radio.
Cons: None.

Jeep Wrangler JK finally has the stereo she deserves!
BatKitty from California on 10/21/2020
2017 Jeep Wrangler
SO we waffled back and forth between this unit and the DNX997XR because I was worried about interior cabin space. I thought I might share my experience for other Jeep Wrangler JK owners so they can get an idea of what this might look like installed. First off, IT'S BIG! But it's big and BEAUTIFUL. True measurements are roughly 10"Wx7"H. Yes our cabin space is limited and this unit will feel like it's close to you, but I haven't found it distracting while driving. Secondly, yes it will cover a small portion of your central climate control vents (I have not noticed a change in air flow that reaches me) and the automatic window switches on the top most adjusted setting for the screen. By now you probably have muscle memory to where the switches are. :P Now for all the good stuff! The resolution on this bad boy is amazing! Images are beautiful and clear, navigation is bright and vibrant, wireless CarPlay has worked seamlessly for us, and the capacitive touchscreen has worked without any lags. If you purchase the idatalink maestro RR (in fact purchase all the recommended install gear that Crutchfield recommends - it's a great deal and you'll use every component without issue) you will retain all your factory controls on your steering wheel. When a navigation destination is set it will still show on your dash gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. I also installed the Kenwood CMOS-740HD backup camera and I'm in love! 5/5 stars for this unit and 5/5 stars for Crutchfield
Pros: Large capacitive HD screen, wireless CarPlay, lots of options to personalize
Cons: Tight fit for small spaces

Excellent
Taylor from Florida on 10/15/2020
2016 Toyota Tacoma
I'll start with a couple of details first from my install experience. 1.) There is a small plastic shroud that MUST be placed over the hex screws that fasten the screen, otherwise the unit does not power on! 2.) This style sandwiches any dash bezels between the hu screen and the hu chassis. 3.) USB has no folder support any longer, I guess? All my music separated by genera/artist in their own folders on USB drives are combined together on the Kenwood. What happened? Kenwood used to recognize folders. Regards to issue #1 this is found in the Kenwood instructions however it's small print and a sentence, this is easily lost if you're flipping through the pages. If you need to do a lot of fitment testing and power up tests/tuning before securing everything. Keep the cover handy, with the screen, I would recommend. I tested this without securing the hex screws and it works (for the sake of testing). Regarding issue #3, it is disappointing a stereo of this caliber combines music files. All in all, I'm very pleased. I still rate this 5/5. Kenwood still reign supreme in my book.
Pros: This thing is fast and very responsive. The factory integration and options amaze me. The picture is astounding though I can't speak to direct sunlight visibility yet, only had this installed for five days.
Cons: See 1,2,3.

2015 Toyota Highlander Limited, working fine
christopher from St Paul, MN on 10/7/2020

Used a Maestro RR as well, recommended Metra kit, iDatalink ACC-SAT-TO2 GPS antenna adapter. The iDatalink ACC-SAT-TO2 kit is NOT included in Crutchfield's gear recommendations although it should be. Allows you to use the built-in GPS which works perfect. In terms of install, there is not much room behind the head unit, no real surprise, and I wish I had been more aggressive in reducing the harness length and had pulled ALL the wires I didn't need from their connectors. I used the 2nd to the lowest vertical setting. Had to install the monitor with the A/C panel off and then adjust the height. There is about 10mm space under the head unit when installed and I tucked some cables in there as I put the head unit into the dash. Also, the instructions kind of leads you to to use the forward position as documented on page 89 of the Kenwood manual. DO NOT DO THIS. It sticks out too far. You have to adjust the screen position in the correct order (see prior paragraph) but it's a better install. For other vehicles, avoid the forward position unless absolutely required. I have had one spontaneous reboot. Will update if more. I bought this because the stock Highlander stereo/hands free phone support has a terrible echo for the person on the other end with the volume above about 30 making it unusable and the Entune navigation is very nearly impossible to use. It's not just you. There is a class action lawsuit over the hands free echo issu
Pros: Hands free audio quality Wireless AirPlay Dual Phone Support A million inputs - camera, A/V, USB, cameras, blah, blah
Cons: Has too many connection pigtails on the backside. takes a ton of room. No FaceTime on CarPlay (Apple!). Video screen does not move L/R.

Installed it in a 2019 Highlander hybrid limited and it looks great. Has a ton of audio settings that I don't know how to work yet. The wireless android auto works awesome! I used a metra install kit. In this car it fits better than the other option available. In my installation, I needed to put 3/8" spacers on the oem brackets where the brackets meet the car (hopefully this makes sense). If you don't do this, the stereo will sit "sunken in" behind the metra dash kit.
Pros: Works and looks great. Volume knob a lifesaver.
Cons: Stereo chassis holes only line up with 2 holes on either side of oem brackets instead of 4.
