About the Kenwood KAC-M3001

Power a sub wherever you go
Power a sub wherever you go
Kenwood's KAC-M3001 compact mono subwoofer amplifier will power the bass in your vehicle with up to 300 watts RMS. That's enough to hear the bass clearly above the noise of the road, trail, or waterway as you travel along. This little powerhouse will fit almost anywhere, including a storage compartment on a boat, motorcycle, or ATV, so you can put great bass in whatever vehicle you wish.
Weather-resistant protection for music on the go
Conformal coating protects the internal circuits from water and dirt, so the show will always go on, even through the roughest conditions. The subwoofer output terminal features a plastic-covered plug that provides further protection for the connection.
High-level inputs ease installation
The KAC-M3001 will accept a signal from just about any source, whether you're using RCA cables from an aftermarket receiver or speaker wires from a factory radio. When you use the speaker-level inputs, the amplifier will sense the signal and turn itself on, so you won't need to run a remote turn-on lead to your car stereo.

Features
Compact Amplifier: The Kenwood KAC-M3001 compact Class D mono block amplifier is designed to drive a subwoofer (or two). The amp features a conformal coating on the circuit board to protect it from moisture. This allows you to use the amp for motorcycles, marine applications, or on All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The KAC-M3001 delivers 200 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms. It also gives you 300 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms.
Protection Circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuitry for thermal overload, DC offset, and short circuits. The amp stops operating when it goes into protection mode. (There are no LED indicators.)
Signal-sensing Turn-on: When the amplifier is connected to a factory head unit, or an aftermarket unit without preamp outputs, you can splice the head unit's speaker wires to a speaker-to-male RCA adapter. In this case, the amplifier's Signal-sensing Turn-on feature will turn on the amp when a signal is detected on the input. This eliminates the need to connect a turn-on lead to the amp's Power Control (blue) wire.
Crossover: The amp has a low-pass crossover to filter out the high frequencies that a subwoofer is unable to reproduce. The crossover has a continuously variable crossover point (50 to 200 Hz) with a slope of 24dB/octave. The crossover cannot be turned off.
Mounting: The KAC-M3001 can be mounted onto an installation board (5/8" thick or more) using the supplied M4 x 16mm self-tapping screws. Two 13.5" plastic wire ties are included for securing the amplifier to a 2x4 board or other narrow item.
Connections
Power/Power Control Connections: The power, ground, and power control connections are 0.35" wide screw terminals. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors or ring terminals are recommended. A minimum 10-gauge wire is required for power and ground.
Power Control: The Power Control wire should be connected to the head unit's remote turn-on lead when an aftermarket unit is used. This wire does not need to be connected if you're using speaker level inputs. The Signal-sensing Turn-on feature will turn on the amplifier when an input signal is detected.
Line-Level Inputs: The amplifier is equipped with a pair of RCA inputs for connecting a stereo RCA patch cable from the head unit to the amp. If using a factory head unit, or a unit without preamp outputs, you can splice the speaker wires to an RCA plug, maintaining the same polarity.
Speaker Outputs: The included speaker output harness has four 16-gauge wires for connecting your speakers to the amp. The two positive and two negative wires are each soldered together to produce a single positive and a single negative output. You can connect a single 4-ohm or 2-ohm sub directly to the amplifier. Two 4-ohm subs wired in parallel or two 2-ohm subs wired in series can also be connected. Speaker wiring diagrams for each configuration are printed in the included Installation Guide.

Got this to separate my subwoofer from main amplifier; it's given my system the punch I was looking for, and made the rest of my system optimal.
