About the Kenwood KFC-P503
Revel in an upper register as high as the sky and lows as deep as the sea with these strato-blue components from Kenwood. The 5-1/4" KFC-P503 has all the elements to take you to the heights and depths of outstanding sound.
The PEI balanced dome tweeter hits crisp, clear high notes, and, thanks to the innovative Kenwood system, can be mounted in one of 5 ways (including flush, angle, and surface mounts) for optimum imaging. The pearl mica-injection molded woofer is light and rigid, providing excellent bass response with minimal distortion. A rugged rubber surround fights off adverse road and climatic conditions that can damage your system.
The KFC-P503 includes a see-through passive 6k Hz crossover to send frequencies to the proper drivers.

Product Research
Woofer Cone Material: The woofer cones are constructed of Strato-Blue Pearl-Mica Injection-Molded Polypropylene. Uniform pearl mica crystals form an overlapping structure that adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability. For a smooth response, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.
Tweeter Material: Each 3/4" balanced-dome tweeter is made with PEI. PEI (Poly-Ether Imide) is a polymer film that has ideal sound characteristics, making it perfect for use as a tweeter. A PEI balanced-dome tweeter produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.
Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters may be flush, surface or angle mounted. The tweeters swivel inside the flush and surface mount sockets, but they do not swivel on the angle mount brackets. The angle mount brackets surface mount to the vehicle and hold the tweeters at a fixed angle (15 or 60 degrees).
Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:
| Flush Mount (swivel) | Surface Mount (swivel) | Angle Mount (fixed 15 or 60 degree angle) | |
| Mounting Depth | 0.672" | 0.428" (screw depth) | 0.531" (screw depth) |
| Mounting Height | 0.476" | 1.129" | 1.203"
(15 degrees) or 1.468" (60 degrees) |
| Cutout Diameter | 1.762" | NA | NA |
| Frame Diameter | 2.076" | 1.761" | 1.564" |
Crossover Dimensions: 4.865"L x 1.804"W x 1.067"H
Crossover Type and Specifications: 2-way crossovers, with 6000Hz high-pass and low-pass crossover points, are included, so the tweeters and woofers will receive only the frequencies they are best able to reproduce.
K-Glow Tweeter Protection Circuit: This tweeter protection circuit uses an incandescent lamp to divert power from the tweeter at excessive input levels. Because the lamp's impedance increases with heat, as the power to the tweeter increases the circuit absorbs more power, continually protecting the tweeter from damage.
Input/Output Connections: The
crossover input wires are bare ended, and the output wires are terminated with
quick-slides.
Mounting Tabs: There are two mounting tabs on each crossover.
