Great combination of features!
Jamie from Eupora, MS on 6/24/2025
2008 Chevrolet Avalanche
I bought this head unit to replace my OEM stereo because there was no BT connectivity in my 2008 Chevy Avalanche. I love listening to audiobooks from various apps and streaming music from my SiriusXM app - and this Kenwood excels at both. So much win when you buy the premade harness from Crutchfield and get a truly plug-n-play setup. I had the OEM unit out and this unit installed in less than thirty minutes. My purchase history can testify, I always buy Kenwood - and I'm proud to say I always buy my Kenwood equipment from Crutchfield. Using this single DIN unit gave me a convenient little shelf in which I will soon mount a (yep, you guessed it) Kenwood VHF transceiver for my Amateur Radio obsession, and the price point was excellent. My little carplay/Android Auto screen functions perfectly with the Kenwood KMM-BT332U, so I have all the best features of equipment at much higher price points. (too much sunlight in the attached photo, had to hold up a floormat to block it to see screen)
Pros: Small depth means less chaos in the dash behind the head unit, plenty of room for wiring harness and wiring interface. Single DIN size leaves room for additional equipment for a future project Allows BT connectivity where previously there was none. OEM steering wheel controls fully functional. Kenwood products are my first choice, always. Crutchfield's amazing custom wiring harness!
Cons: Absolutely none!

I am super happy with this replacement car stereo for my 85 VW Vanagon. Crutchfield is great online service for buying electronics. I have bought many items from them in the past and have always been highly satisfied. Quick delivery time with average shipping rates. The stereo installation was easy and quick and fit is perfect in existing dash opening. Stereo sounds great given such a light compact little unit. I love all the functionality as well. I have put to use every function except the Alexa function and it all work fantastic and easily.
Pros: Light unit with ALOT of functions plus great sound.
Cons: None so far.

Love this unit. Biggest complaint would be you can't play Spotify though the Alexa feature. Odd because you can tell Alexa to play music through Spotify in your home but not this unit. But setup was super easy. I had my old radio out and this unit in within 30 min. Easy setup. The mic sounds good and pics up my voice easily.
Pros: Install is quick and easy
Cons: Alexa features are very limited

Roman from Germantown, TN on 4/17/2025
2008 Ford Crown Victoria
Installment using the provided for no cost parts was just a breeze, all I needed to spend some time on was soldering the wires. As for the unit itself, it's great quality and outstanding sound even with the factory speakers in my Crown Vic. I like how easy it is to get connected via BT and to use it everyday. Well worth the money. The only thing I would want to get improved is the size of the digits that show clock as it's the only display in my car that shows clock. Other than that Kenwood is great!
Pros: Ease of installing and using. Sound quality and features. Free installing hardware and wires. Quick shipment. Lifetime support.
Cons: Digits on clock are too small

Don't buy if you live somewhere cold
WILL from CARBONDALE, IL on 2/28/2025
2001 Ford Ranger
Receiver is pretty solid for the price. The reason for the low rating comes from the fact that the radio resets itself in cold climates and does not store clock settings, etc. Kenwood released a firmware update for that specific issue last year, however, it did not fix the issue. Very dissatisfied with the unit because of this.

This product has been great for me. The install was easy and that's coming from someone who has no experience with radios or wiring in general. It works great and has a lot of cool functionalities and ways to setup your radio how you like. From the audio levels like bass, mid, and treble, all the way to setting a certain color for the display. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody looking for a nice radio upgrade
Pros: Easy to install Lots of audio setting Easy to use Full Bluetooth capability

Easy set up and Bluetooth connection and am getting alot more radio stations my factory stereo was.Very happy with crutchfield ships fast and sends you exactly what you need your welcome for my money and thank you for the great product now excuse me I have noise ordinances to test whoooooo
Pros: Nice display, easy install, easy Bluetooth linking, great bass/EQ adjustable, color variation for display is fun

I was between a couple different units and ultimately settled on this one after speaking to customer support (top notch team), I wanted Bluetooth mainly and the ability to match my dash lights. I installed this in a 2000 mr2 spyder. You can adjust the model of car, speaker size, lighting (text and buttons are two different zones), along with a 13 band EQ. I'm very happy with the unit, it's done everything I've needed so far and sounds better than the factory one it replaces. My only gripe would be the menu is difficult to navigate at times due to there being so many options. I've had good luck with Kenwood in the past and don't look for this to be any different.
Pros: Tons of eq adjustment, unlimited color options, not too flashy
Cons: Menu is a bit tough since the display is only one line at a time

Bill from Suffolk, NY on 10/1/2024

Great sound for the price IF looking for a simplistic stereo with basic sound. Can use other music apps instead of Kenwood app for Bluetooth. Bought radio for the USB and I'm disappointed, as it is hard to navigate. Kenwood app doesn't help and I don't find it usefull. Using Kenwood stereos for about 30 years & wanted USB over CD.
Pros: Cost is low. Sound is very good if looking for a basic stereo. Great options for the display including random colors. Display is clear and easy to read. Radio & Bluetooth media plays well. Large volume button. Comes with phone mic.
Cons: Bottom buttons are small and hard to use when driving. Unlike Bluetooth, USB drive is very difficult to navigate (have to scroll & you can't just select a song or artist from a list). Not usefull when you have over 500 songs on a USB drive. Kenwood app fails constantly & is also hard to navigate. Neither head unit or app show a USB selection (only what is playing). Was relying on the phone app to make my USB music easier to access but app doesn't help.

The verdict is still out on this. I installed it along with 4 Kenwood speakers. Sounds better than the old stock setup, but not as good as I expected. I've owned Kenwood equipment for many, many years and was never disappointed. The radio is okay, not great, but when I use Bluetooth, forget it. It sucks. But, in all fairness, I'm new at setting up these newer receivers and it may be something I missed. I do need to make more adjustments when I figure out how to do it.
Pros: It is Kenwood. It has bluetooth for use with Spotify on my phone.
Cons: Not sounding as awesome as I'm used to with Kenwood equipment.

2 major issues
abel from MANSFIELD, TX on 5/2/2024
2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty
i tend to only buy kenwood stereos because i am happy with their performance but this stereo has 2 major issues. the clock display is absolutely horrible (see pic). i have to tap my phone to see the time because the time on the clock is too small to glance at. you have to focus on it and by that time 2 to 3 seconds have passed why you are possibly driving 70mph. instead the stereo gives the focus to the date which i don't think anyone would care to see while driving. i would not have purchased this stereo if i knew of the clock display design. the other big issue i'm experiencing is when you pause a song while connected via bluetooth, the sound will not play anymore on the stereo. the phone shows its playing and you see the song time running on the stereo but it will not play the sound. the trick to get it to play sound again is to cycle through all stereo modes but when you get to the tuner option, for 2 to 3 seconds it will play the station or static sound at full blast; which can be deafening at times. its only during the time that it takes to cycle through the tuner mode. once you get back to bluetooth mode, it will play the original sound. i do not recommend this stereo for these 2 issues.

Board Failures
Crutchfield customer from GROVELAND, IL on 4/16/2024
1999 Dodge Ram 2500
It appears the cmos battery or on board battery to maintain volatile memory is dead. Does not hold time, does not hold last input/source. Very frustrating as you want to know what time it is but it will hold other settings such a equalizer and dimming times. Why does dimming times stand out? BECAUSE THE CLOCK RESETS TO MIDNIGHT SO ITS ALWAYS DIM. Noticed after a week of usage, I'm getting bluetooth connection issues. Android or whatever device will ask the source (headunit) be restarted. Easy enough just hold down power... nope, doesnt kill board power just puts it to sleep. Got out some test equipment, it appears during brown out when cranking, the bluetooth module send a weird shorter connection message to the synced device. While this normally isnt a problem on dumber devices, our phones see that as a security issue potentially and wants the whole connection to be reestablished. Aside from that, its a great head unit. Sounds good, good EQ settings and presets. With the issues above I wouldn't buy it again, due to the pain to rewire the dash I either have to replace with same or deal. We will see.
Pros: Easy setup Fast connection good EQ
Cons: Memory of settings is hit or miss bluetooth integration is lacking

If you just want a basic radio, this is probably for you. I got tired of switching to FM to listen to my fave morning show and it changed the source to my phone every five minutes. Plus the Bluetooth sound quality is not the best. But take this with a grain of salt. I'm an audio enthusiast and should have started with a nicer unit.

Great but not perfect!
David from Durango, CO on 3/12/2024
1986 Volkswagen Vanagon
Great unit for the price. Installation was easy and came with everything. Instructions are clear about what goes where. Few very minor complaints about the unit. 1. The unit will auto-connect to Bluetooth but will not cycle to the Bluetooth channel you have to click through the inputs to get there. 2. The unit is not very loud. It maxes out at a vol of 25 which is not to my liking and not loud enough for my my old VW van is not quite loud enough to drown out the excessive road noise from a restoration in progress vehicle. This is mostly on me to not check the power rating or get an amp. The design is pretty clean compared to most units out there. The sound quality is excellent and the color options are great. Bluetooth range is also impressive. Overall great unit for the price.
Pros: Price, colors, design, sound quality
Cons: menu options, cycling inputs, power output

Impressive quality for a single din at a low price point
Russell Marvin from ASPERS, PA on 2/28/2024
1999 Pontiac Sunfire
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this unit, and will be buying this one for any other single din vehicles in the future. I purchased to replace my mother's burnt-out unit in her 99 Pontiac Sunfire, and she immediately fell in love with it, especially because it has a built in Amazon Alexa system.
Pros: Pros -Well protected during shipping -Beautiful display -Extremely customizable with both display and audio -Higher than average RMS that makes a cleaner sound without an amplifier on my new speakers -Mic sounds very clear and has enough wire that you can install it anywhere in the vehicle -Harness is very well made and has no loose pins -Compact so it fits well in smaller dashboards -Can select primary device in the settings so it resyncs to your phone instead of a passe
Cons: Cons I haven't used the radio function, but if I did I can imagine the station quick select buttons would be uncomfortably small for my large fingers. The 5 main buttons are fine though, and I appreciate the larger display I can't find a setting to make the time display instead of the current song in the larger section of the screen, but it's fine because it's still displaying the time in the bottom

I honestly wasn't expecting a lot at this price point but I am impressed by this head unit. It is loaded with features that are useful, has good power, great sound control and looks good. My one complaint is the microscopic clock display. You can have a full size date display but only a tiny clock in the lower corner. If it wasn't for this I would easily give 5 stars.
Pros: Good sound Multi-device simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity Built in EQ, crossovers, sound shaping
Cons: Itty bitty clock display

Bought as a gift for my son and just got around to installing it. Horrible controls and horrible sound. Bluetooth sound quality is noticeably worse than the wired connection on an iPhone. There are three different places for bass settings, three different places for EQ, and just too many different screens in an attempt to customize the sound.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Overly complicated sound adjustments Bluetooth sound quality is horrible Navigation button for forward and back are super small.

Outstanding Sound System!!
Timothy from Keyport, NJ on 1/27/2024
In late October / early November of 2023 I contacted Crutchfield with the desire to fully replace the sound system in my older 2006 Ford Pickup Truck. OMG, what I ended up with is a totally exquisite sound system specifically tailored to fit my vehicle. I mean to say that not only is the sound fantastic but the installation could not have gone easier / better. Apparently, Crutchfield knows more about our vehicles than we do.as they should. They are fully ready with all the knowledge and hardware to make your installation successful. I purchased a Kenwood KMM-BT332U Receiver (OMG.what an outstanding device!!) and 4 Rockford Fosgate R168X3 Speakers. Lastly and most importantly my new sound system sounds freaking EXCELLENT!!!! Folks, Crutchfield is THE one-stop shop for you audio needs. Reasonably priced and ready to install in your specific vehicle in a blink of time. The purchasing experience was quick and the outcome of my new audio system was better than I could have hoped. If I had an issue, I knew who to call. I highly recommend Crutchfield for your electronics & audio needs. Check out their web site. They provide automotive audio, home audio, TV's, cameras, drones and so much more. They will give you all you need even if you don't know you need it. 5-STARS for Crutchfield!!! Timothy Keyport, NJ
Pros: Outstanding sound system at a reasonable cost.

In all fairness
Alan from Burlington, NJ on 12/27/2023
2005 Toyota 4Runner
In all fairness this unit sounds great. It replaces a model that had a CD slot which I had. The USB plug broke, be careful passengers. My complaint is there's no mention of the fact that it doesn't receive Sirius or satellite radio which I usually use. The last model did that and I assumed (yeah I forgot not to assume) it would also play Sirius, til after I had installed it. Crutchfield is great with the return but it is a B---h and a half pulling that console apart and THEN re assembling it. I do hope the Ready Harness will save a little bit of time.
Pros: Good sounding unit.
Cons: Doesn't get Sirius. What bonehead down at ALPINE wouldn't include Sirius?

Great feature-rich deck
Konz from ARLINGTON, TX on 7/16/2023
2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
This unit was on backorder from Crutchfield, so I had to break down and get one locally. I had an old Sony BT4100 that has lasted me for several years and this was a great replacement, with even the USB and volume controls in the same location. I DO NOT miss the CD player and like this unit because it doesn't go as deep into the dashboard - it's about 2/3 the size of a full-sized deck with a CD/DVD player. The one thing I don't like, though, is that when playing music from a USB, in order to shuffle the entire device, it seems like all the files have to be in the root (or a single) folder - folders by album or artist won't work. You can shuffle within a folder, but not the entire USB of folders. I just created a USB where all the files were in the root of the USB, without folders.
Pros: Price, Fit, Size, Replacement
Cons: No full USB shuffle (using folders)

Been awhile since I performed a radio replacement . Crutchfield made it all super simple to compile all I needed to complete the installation. The Ken wood paired to the PAC module let me retain most factory controls. I was surprised how light the new radios are when not fitted with a CD player or any fancy bells and whistles.
Pros: The Kenwood Quality sound you expect is still there.
Cons: The unit feels a little fragile due to its light weight, but I'm sure it's fine. Also programming the PAC module to sync up with the steering wheel controls was not super simple..

Stereo works good, sounds good and has lots of features...... EXCEPT wireless remote! For some reason Kenwood wants you to use your phone as a remote, encouraging you to take your eyes off the road! Shame on you Kenwood. I've been buying Kenwood for over 20 years but, now I'm going to have to throw this away and go with another brand who still believes in wireless remotes ( Pioneer, Sony).

Much much better than the pyle unit I had that died on me. Love the in-depth features for the price. I had an issue with my iPhone 14 pro on iOS 16 showing "no music" when I played through USB, though I fixed this by adding a song to my actual music library since I was playing from spotify and there were originally no songs on my device. It looks like it just needs a song in the music library to enable indexing music from other apps.
