Marine, Display, & Remote Features

Marine Certified: The Kenwood KMR-M300BT marine digital media receiver features a water-proof & dust-tight front-panel that is IP66-rated, as well as an IPX4-rated chassis. The IP66 rating means the units' front-panel is protected against dust intrusion and strong jets of water, while the chassis' IPX4 rating means it can withstand only light water spray (not heavy water jets and not dust-tight). The KMR-M300BT is also salt-spray proof, UV protected, and vibration resistant. In addition, the use of conformal coating improves moisture resistance of the circuit boards to prevent corrosion.

  • Salt Spray-Proof: ASTM B117 salt spray (or salt fog) corrosion test simulates harsh conditions in a salt water environment to ensure the product does not corrode or fail in these harsh conditions.
  • UV Protection: The unit is also ASTM D4329 UV resistant tested to make sure it is protected against harmful UV rays.
  • Vibration Resistant: In addition, the receiver is 3-axis multi-freqeuncy vibration tested to make sure it can withstand damaging shocks from boating and off-roading.

Note: Even though this unit is marine certified and water-proof, it should never be submerged directly into water.

Gauge-Style Mounting: The Kenwood KMR-M300BT can be installed in your boat, ATV/UTV, or golf-cart. It can be mounted in an existing 3.0" gauge opening. If a gauge opening is not already present, you'll need to make a circular 3.0" cutout opening to mount the marine head unit. The receiver secures in the opening use the included mounting bracket or mounting plate and the included hardware.

  • Front-Panel Dimensions: 4.5625" (width) x 4.1875" (height) x 1.4375" (depth)
  • Cutout Dimensions: 3.0" (diameter) x 3.4375" (depth) x 3.125" (depth)
  • Screw Hole Spacing (4): 4.0" (width) x 3.5" (height) x 1.0" (depth)

2.7" LCD Screen: The KMR-M300BT's 2.7" TFT LCD screen with LED backlight offers high visibility even under direct sunlight and daytime conditions with a Daytime and Nighttime mode. The 2.7" LCD screen will display menu settings, song/artist/album information (including album art from a USB source), station identification, and video from the camera input. It also features an on-screen voltage gauge that displays the supplied voltage to the head unit. You can choose between English or Spanish on-screen menu text.

Variable Color Button Illumination: The KMR-M300BT offers variable color illumination for its front-panel 3-way rotary knob and push-button controls. The head unit offers a variety of preset color options, as well as lets you create your own custom color.

Optional Wired Remote Control: The KMR-M300BT supports Kenwood's KCA-RC35M marine wired remote control (sold separately) through its blue/yellow remote wire. The KCA-RC35MR wired remote control features an IPX7 waterproof design that helps it withstand the harsh marine environment. Up to 6 of these remotes can be connected and daisy-chained to a KMR-M300BT marine receiver.

  • Backlit Controls: The KCA-RC35MR features source selection, music search, volume up/down, and mute control buttons. The KCA-RC35MR provides backlit illumination so it is easy to see at night.
  • Mounting: The KCA-RC35MR is designed to be surface-mounted using the supplied mounting bracket and hardware. The wired remote requires a cutout diameter of 0.75" to run its wiring through.
  • Wiring: The KCA-RC35MR offers a 4-wire installation; Ignition (red), Remote (blue/yellow), Illumination (orange), and Ground (black). The attached 4-wire harness is only 8" long and may require the purchase of additional lengths of wire (sold separately).

Note: The KMR-M300BT is not compatible with Kenwood's KCA-RC55MR wired remote control and other Kenwood's wired remotes that feature a proprietary 8-pin DIN connector.

Bluetooth & iPhone Integration

Built-In Bluetooth 5.0: The Kenwood KMR-M300BT features built-in Bluetooth 5.0 with support for wireless audio streaming (A2DP), playback controls (AVRCP), and secure simple pair (SSP). You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the marine receiver, but only one device can be connected and used for playback at a time. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. The marine head unit has a Bluetooth wireless range of approximately 32.8'.

  • Wireless Audio Streaming: You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music libraries, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled source devices (such as your smartphone or tablet) to the KMR-M300BT marine digital media receiver. In addition to supporting Bluetooth's standard SBC codec, the KMR-M300BT also supports Apple's AAC codec. By supporting AAC, the KMR-M300BT offers better audio performance from your Apple devices.
  • Advanced Control: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Fast Forward/Rewind,, Random/Repeat), the KMR-M300BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. Advanced music browsing is supported by Android 4.0+ smartphones and Apple iPhones 5.0+ (specific advanced functions vary by phone).
  • Song/Artist/Album Display: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps). Album art is not supported.

Note: The KMR-M300BT does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication (HFP) for making and answering phone calls.

iPhone Direct: The KMR-M300BT allows you to connect select iPhone models with Lightning connector (iPhone 6 and newer) through its rear-panel USB-A 2.0 port for music playback, control functions, song/artist/album display, and charging. You'll be able to playback your music library, music apps, and other audio content on your compatible iPhone through the KMR-M300BT receiver. You'll also be able to search your stored music library by category (playlist/song/artist/etc.), as well as operate playback functions such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat from the head unit's front-panel controls. In addition, the receiver's front-panel LCD screen will display song/artist/album text information, plus album art. Your compatible iPhone device will also charge while connected to the USB-A 2.0 port (5V/1.5A).

  • Compatible iPhone Models: Compatible iPhone models with Lightning connector include iPhone 6 and newer models (running iOS 12.0 or higher).
  • Non-Compatible iPod/iPhone Models: Not compatible with iPhones featuring a Lightning connector that are older than iPhone 6. Not compatible with iPod touch or iPod nano. Not compatible with any older iPod or iPhone models with a 30-pin connector.

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
Can you connect this kenwood marine radio to a Bluetooth soundbar ?

A
Greetings Ken, and thank you for your question. The Kenwood stereo receiver does not have a Bluetooth transmitter. I cant think of a bar with Bluetooth transmitting to another stereo either. Only way I can see both playing the same source at the same time is either RCA out of the Kenwood to an Aux input on the bar, or if the bar has an Aux out, to the Kenwood Aux in. Yes wired.
