Kenwood KFC-X3C - Sept 2023

Purchased Sept 2023 for my 2019 Highlander without the JBL audio system from Toyota. Also purchased all the adapter hardware, ie, wiring kit with the speakers. Crutchfield's online guide said these Kenwoods would be a perfect fit and they were. Literally installed without any modifications in 20 minutes because of the wiring kit. Sound is excellent because I replaced all the speakers in my Highlander with Kenwoods. Having all the speakers from the same brand means the entire audio system's speakers sound profile will be balanced with all the highs, mid, and lows sounding natural. For example, these in-dash speakers really help with clarity of singer's voices and the bands cymbals and tambourines without being overly shrill. The old speakers made singers sound like they were singing through a bed comforter.Super easy install, very fair price point, increased singer's voice clarity, and increased high frequency clarity without being overly bright or shrill.

Great speaker

Great speaker for the price! Put a little power to them and they come to life with crisp and clear response. They sound great in my Ram dash with a Kicker Key amp. I paired them with matching 6x9's in the front and rear doors. Run the front door and dash speakers on separate amp channels and they sound amazing.

Quick delivery, excellent tech support (I called twice), great price. Definitely changed the sound in my wife's '15 Outback for the better! Super easy installation, a few eq tweaks, and the voices suddenly became crystal clear. Four new door speakers, then these, all with the standard head unit (non-HK). They were a direct plug and play for the dash speakers (2020 Ram 1500 Rebel). Sound much better than stock! I bought another set to put in the headliner.

Fantastic speakers!

Absolutely thrilled with these speakers. Drop in replacement for stock dash speakers on my 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL. Took about 5 minutes start to finish. The sound is 10 times better than the stock speakers. Massive improvement and got them on sale for $80. Highly recommend these speakers and Crutchfield!!

Small speaker, BIG sound

These meet the criteria for five start rating through cheap price, easy installation, and awesome sound! These were installed in a 2016 Jeep Renegade (6 speaker setup) and sound incredible through the factory head unit (not amplified). Crutchfield is great per norm and sent wiring harnesses for free..made install even easier. I used a small ratchet and star bit to remove the screws...its a little tight towards the windshield. Also bought the plastic trim pry-bar and tool kit. Popped the speaker covers out easily and without damaging/scratching the trim. I installed this prior to replacing the four 6x9's in the doors. These Kenwood's drowned out the sound of the other four and forced my hand to replace them all that day! Crutchfield sends you and e-version of install instructions..easy to follow...also great videos on YT if you are more of a visual learner.

Great value and good sound

Installed in 2007 Mazda Miata. Requires some minor modification to make fit. Much heavier and higher quality than the stock speaker. Required some rewiring (expected), not easy given the location of the speaker in the mid-dash. Sounds great and a huge improvement.

Easy install.

Not so bad speaker

These speakers look very nice and have quality to the touch, but when it comes to sound they lack the hi-fi needed to make them get a 4 star rating. The highs are not clear, the mids are to up in the high section which make them noisy to the ear. This review is not based on my opinion, it is based on a quality sound test made after instalation in my vehicle. Crutchfield was very nice to accept them back, and I ended up buying a better set for my jeep.

Excellent fit and true plug and play with the included connectors. 2022 JLU Willys corner dash and roll bar tweeters. Took about 45 minutes to change out all 4. A excellent upgrade from the factory speakers. Great highs and midrange. Surprisingly good bass too. If you're looking for an easy upgrade to the factory speakers and don't want to spend a fortune this is a great choice. Excellent customer service and advice from Crutchfield. Highly recommend

Surprising Upgrade in a Stock System

I bought these to swap out the stock speakers in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. They went in and fit perfectly even with the provided crossovers. The sensitivity on these was really surprising as I was not expecting them to be driven by my stock stereo as well as the speakers they replaced but I actually think these are louder than the stock junk that was in it. The tweeters in these are a little much at higher volumes but I'm hoping to be able to smooth those out with a DSP in the future.

Bringing the highs to a Gladiator

Installed these into my 22 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon's dash locations. The original speakers in the Jeep are all mids or base, there is no highs. Install was a perfect fit and the Metra adaptors were spot on. I now can definitely hear the highs and a clearer understanding of speech as well. Surprisingly the biggest difference is on speaker phone calls which use the drivers side dash speaker only. However, as big an improvement to the overall sound in the Jeep itself, the speakers themselves lack a lot of quality sound. There is some amount of scratchiness across the highs, over power and you lose all the highs and hear nothing but mids and base again. For the price though, these are hard to beat for a quick improvement. install took less than 10 minutes.

No Nissan Tweeter plugs.

Kenwood makes great speakers but Crutchfield did not have a plug and play wiring harness for my 2011 Nissan Altima. Yeah, I could butcher my car's factory wiring harness but I really don't want to do that. I searched all over the internet for a plug kit with no luck. Even the Nissan forum had nothing. Anyway, I wish Crutchfield offer this plug. I just kept the stock speakers rather than cut up the car harness.

Good Upgrade

Upgraded my front door speakers with a set of JVC speakers from Crutchfield and having a factory Bose system in my truck the new door speakers were now not as loud as stock. The center speaker in the dash was now too noticeable and overpowered the door speakers. I chose this Kenwood speaker for it's higher impedance and lower gain than the stock Bose speaker to hopefully balance things out again. This worked out great and just fills in as it should and sounds much better than the original as a mid range speaker. I used the supplied crossover.

Amazing upgrade for JT

Amazing sound. It really does improve the sound quality hands down. I purchased two sets for my JT. Super, super, super easy install. With Crutchfield it's a plug and play deal. I installed these in the dash corners. They made an immediate difference. The left side was a tight fit. I also had to angle the screws to get the speaker fitted but managed to get them torqued all the way down. These two little speakers sound bettter than all of the stock speakers combined.

Finally A Rich Sound

I purchased these for my 2020 Pacifica after reading rave reviews. After installing I instantly could hear the difference. The mids and highs were clear and full. You can now hear notes that you couldn't with the factory 3.5's. Plus dropping to a 4ohm load it gained more power. For less than $100 shipped, I highly recommend.

Cripes! Why couldn't these be installed in my van from the factory? Don't answer that, we all know why. This is FAR more serious audio than the stock cracker jack toys. Sure it dropped the load by a lot and the magnet is 3 times the size, dedicated tweeter, bla bla bla... But such a small investment has impressed me a LOT. Nothing but good (I left out the crossovers as the 2.2 uF cap is firmly affixed).

As stated by the expertise at Crutchfield these speakers do fit into the stock rollbar of a Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU (2018-2021). They replace the stock mediocre tweeters. The upgrade at a minimal cost, along with the free Metra connectors make this purchase well worth it. These speakers also fit the dash tweeters with no modifications. These are a very good upgrade over the stock speakers.

Good upgrade for Chrysler/Jeep vehicles

Installed these in the dash of a2020 Pacifica with the base stereo. Pretty easy install. Much brighter and more detailed then the original speakers. Took me a couple days to get it re-adjusted and now very I'm happy. Treble +3, Mid 0, Bass +4, Fader 0, Loudness "on". For the price its a good upgrade.

Great 3.5" speaker with awesome sound!

I bought these speakers to add more dynamic sound to my 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE. Wow... what a difference these make! At first I only changed my front dash factory speakers with these Kenwoods and the sound inside already was 50% better. If you're looking for a good quality speaker with great sound at a reasonable price these are an excellent option. Installation was easy (with the help from Crutchfield and their specific vehicle instructions). I did not use the bass blocking option (but could add it later if I want). I did find a plug-in speaker harness (Red Wolf) on Amazon so I did not have to manually spice the wiring on the front dash speakers. The speaker fit was fine but I did add an extra washer since the speaker did not sit completely flat in the original opening. All in all this was a great buy and enhanced the sound in my vehicle immensely. I did end up changing all my speakers (Pioneer TS-G6930F in the front doors (same as the TS-G690 in USA), and Kenwood KFC-1666S in the rear doors). Now the sound is so much better and I'm still using the factory Toyota deck. Later I will swap the deck out for a Pioneer deck that I have in another vehicle. Thank you Crutchfield and Kenwood for a an excellent product.

Jeep JL quick upgrade

I have a Jeep JL with the Alpine Premium system. It sounded ok, but not as clear as I had hoped. Many people upgrade the speakers and the amplification. Looking at what it takes to fully upgrade the system (nothing complicated, just tedious), I decided to hold off on anything major at this time. So, I opted for a quick upgrade of all 4 of the 3.5" speakers with these Kenwoods. It added clarity to the mid and high frequencies (I like silk tweeters), ultimately improving the overall sound quality. I am enjoying the system much more now than I had with the drivers provided by Jeep.
