Product Research

Features

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Kenwood recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 1.25 ft³ (0.8 ft³ to 1.8 ft³ acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Enclosure Applications: Kenwood recommends a ported enclosure volume of 1.5 ft³ (1.2 ft³ to 2 ft³ acceptable) with a 12¾" wide x 1⅜" tall x 29" long slot port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from a given amount of power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10-gauge.

Additional Measurements: When mounted without the trim ring, the sub has these measurements:

  • Mounting Height: 0.667"
  • Flange Height: 0.196"
  • Frame Diameter: 12.550"

Warranty Note: Although the information included with these speakers indicates a 1-year warranty, they are actually covered by the Kenwood eXcelon 2-year warranty.

Customer Q&A

Q
Will 2 Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1241 be able to handle a 3000 watt amp?
d  May 13, 2025
1 answer
A
Two of these subs can be connected to an amp that outputs up to 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms. More information is needed about that amp to check its compatibility and see if it outputs watts RMS within that range. We have product advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who are happy to help check compatibility

Q
Bestlow pass filter setting?
daganja  Aug 02, 2022

A
There won't be any "best" setting for just the loose speaker sadly, Ryan. Many factors can affect this, the type and size of the box you are using or the type of music you prefer. Usually for my personal preference 12's sound pretty good with a low(ish) crossover, somewhere around the 60hz mark. IF you prefer big boomy bass and are using a ported box you can slide that higher up to the 70-80 mark or maybe higher. What's most important is what sounds good to you Ryan, so experiment! Try a few different crossovers points and stick with what sounds best to you!

Q
What would be a good amp to use for two of the Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1241?
gwain  Feb 26, 2021

A
I started with an Autotek MM1202.2 but found it lacking so I upgraded to the 2000w AutotekMM2020.2 and it made a lot of difference in the level and deepness of this bass sub. Im strongly leaning to getting one more XW-1241 to fully get the surround bass feeling. So ANything over 1500w I think would be good for this Sub.

Def Ported, I use a Metra slot ported box and it made a lot of difference.
