You need this adapter.

This is a very simple antenna lead adapter for your 2007 Volvo V70, and you pretty much need it to connect any sort of aftermarket replacement head unit. So simple, it doesn't require an explanation.

It just works

It works, obviously eliminates the dual-antenna feature the original radio took advantage of, but reception is still strong. Pretty simple device.

My Volvo Install

A must for connecting a Volvo proprietary antenna connector to a standard head unit. Were it not for Crutchfield, I would not have known it was required for my install. And it was FREE!! This is why Crutchfield continues to be the Go-To company for me after 35 years.

Good for FM, but bad for AM.

Great for FM, but lousy for AM. Volvo uses two separate antennas, but this adapter only passes the signal from one antenna to the head unit. It is complicated to combine the two antenna signals, but they could have included circuitry to do this for another $10. I'm going to have to build this circuitry myself.

Only a 4 star, because it only uses one side of the car window antennas in a Volvo XC70. If you look at the connector, that you plug this adapter into, there are two antenna inputs. This adapter only uses on side. Reception is still pretty good, but would be nice if it used both antenna inputs. Also, if you have no AM reception after your install, see this forum post below. Blue wire to amp on a Volvo needs 10 Volts, not the 12 that is normal. This Blue wire is in the other wiring harness. http://www.volvo-forums.com/t15342-st-20-S60-am-radio-reception.htm This fix works. Hopefully Crutchfield comes up with a cleaner fix, as I have provided them with this info, so the next person does not have to all of the troubleshooting/internet searching I had to go thru to get ok AM reception, and improved FM reception.

Achieved the desired result perfectly. It did drop one of the two incoming antenna wires from the factory stereo. What the difference is between those two, I don't know. I can't say I've noticed any degradation in signal quality.

Functional and works well

you can't install an aftermarket HU into a volvo without this, unless you cut the factory antenna wire and add the standard antenna plug on to it instead. I'd choose the adapter as long as the cost isn't silly. This works well. Do note the volvos seem to have dual diveristy antennae; that feature is lost as this adapter just takes one antenna line and ignores the other.

Connects to only one of the Antenna leads

Some Volvos are built with two antennas and the Factory connector has Terminations for both. This adapter will only connect one of them to the new Radio. Could be the Factory Radio is needed to select which antenna is providing the best signal.

The adapter converted the stock Volvo plug to a universal plug just like it said. I think the length of the cable could be made a little shorter though.

This adapter did the job perfectly. It fit well and the reception with my new head is better than I had hoped for. I live in the sticks and FM reception from the nearest city is often questionable. I was a little concerned about signal loss in the adapter, but it does a great job. You can't beat the price (Free!) when you get it with a head unit purchase.
