Don't Skip Out, Just Buy It
Cole from EDEN, UT on 3/13/2025
2007 Hyundai Sonata
Made installation on my Sonata extremely easy. The included vehicle instruction made splicing the wires a painless and quick process. Took me maybe 30 minutes to splice together and wasn't too long or short. Once spliced to the new head units harness it was simply plug and play. The time and irritation it saves you from is more than worth the small price.
Pros: Simple and Intuitive Instructions Plug and Play once Spliced in
Cons: None

This could have been 5 stars.
Keith from Auburn, MA on 2/26/2024
2011 Ford F-250
I cannot go the full 5 stars. And before I say anything else - beware. Order from Crutchfield and get ready for a ton of junk marketing emails. I must have missed the opt out, or I thought they would respect me as a customer. So back to the harness. It worked. Crutchfield was wrong. They said it would not work. I had to do my own research which saved me around $50. I had an older F-250 with no steering wheel controls or USB anywhere so I did not need the more expensive kit. So I am taking off one star due to Crutchfield with their spam emails and mis-information.
Pros: Good Quality Easy to follow color code
Cons: Incorrect information on Crutchfield site

Does not work with my vehicle even though it said it would
Matthew from Oregon on 11/1/2023
2011 Ford F-450
The plug fit in my vehicle(2011 Ford f450) but the pins didn't line up! Upon installation I was puzzled to find my head unit didn't turn on or even make a noise! This added hours to my installation and required more equipment and tools than should have been necessary. I had to tap into an ACC power somewhere else in my dash to get it to power on. I do not get to enjoy all the features my brand new head unit came with thanks to this part.
Pros: It fit onto the old wiring harness
Cons: Does not work Requires extra time, tools, equipment and wiring capabilities Do not buy for a 2011 Ford F450

This wiring harness just works. The best part was that the colored wires matched perfectly to the aftermarket radio's harness. All I had to do was confirm the function of the wires on each end, slide on a heat shrink tube, solder the wires together, and repeat about 12 times.
Pros: Colored wires make installation super easy
Cons: Had slight difficulty when plugging into the factory vehicle connector, but it finally popped in place.

It's a harness not much to review. I had no problems wiring it to the receiver harness the diagram from crutchfield is pretty helpful, as a matter of fact the diagram included made me glad I did it myself and didn't pay for the prewired harness. It's appears to be decent quality and plugged into the car harness securely, and a bonus everything worked when I powered up the receiver for the first time.

You'll still need to cut into your factory harness or re pin
Crutchfield customer from Norman, OK on 7/16/2019
2007 Hyundai Sonata
This harness is missing the wires for steering wheel controls and the wire to amplify the antenna on Hyundais. If you want to retain steering wheel controls and AM/FM radio you will have to cut into your factory harness (kinda defeating the purpose of buying this in the first place, or if your more adventurous buy a second Ford adapter to harvest pins from and add to the blank spaces in the adapter. That said this is of better quality than the big box store one I bought to supplement this one, but Metra should really stop being so cheap and start making a Hyundai harness and quit selling Ford harnesses to Hyundai users.
Pros: Fairly good materials quality
Cons: Missing wires needed to retain popper use of AM/FM radio

Metra 70-5520 Receiver Wiring Harness
Paul from Sandy, UT on 4/13/2019
2017 Hyundai Sonata SE
My review is based on its use in a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. I didn't know Hyundai used a harness commonly found in Ford vehicles but this thing doesn't work very well in the Hyundai. I had to splice into 4 wires on the factory OEM harness to make my new stereo work and for the steering wheel control module to work. It would be nice if an after market harness existed that included those extra wires so you didn't have to splice into the factory wires.
Pros: Most of the wires work on it.
Cons: Hyundai owners have to cut into the oem because this thing is lacking the wires needed for a correct install.

Fast and complete delivery - unit worked perfect right out of box it was totally plug and play - looks nice and fits perfect - the only reason it didn't get five stars is the cable to the backup camera was too short - I contacted the company and talked to Ryan before the purchase and told him I didn't think 16 feet was long enough for a truck with an 8 foot bed - he assured me it was. So I had to spend $30 more dollars for a coupling and more wire and of course the everpresent freight charge...

Harness worked pretty well as expected. If you're using it with an adapter to keep your steering wheel controls, you will be short 2 wires. (from what I read, this is with any brand of these harnesses) I moved the blue and blue/white wires to the needed pins. (power antenna and something else I can't remember) There are some youtube videos on how to do this, but the easiest way is to remove the red cover. This will give you access to the pin release.
Pros: makes connecting to the factory harness simple
Cons: need to move a couple pins to retain steering wheel controls

Easy to wire up to head unit, especially with the pre stripped wires. The plug is a little loose when connected but I think that is because my car has previously had an aftermarket unit installed and the factory plugs don't hold up to a lot of use.

Good but lacking.
Crutchfield customer from Kapolei, HI on 7/4/2018
2006 Hyundai Sonata
Exact fit and works as advertised with one major flaw. The harness does not include every wire on the opposite end. I would have like if it included wires that you didn't use. The reason for this is because of additional accessories that use other wires. I purchased a radio and used all the wires that were needed for hookup. Unfortunately, this harness didn't wire to a brown and another color on the vehicle side, which would have allowed me to install my steering wheel controller.
Pros: Fits the car as advertised. Colors match accordingly. No issues since install.
Cons: Lacks extra pins and wires for other features not with radio.

Good fit for 2006 F150
David from GA - Georgia on 4/18/2018
2006 Ford F-150
Harness worked well with one exception...it is not wired for steering wheel controls. When paired with an Axxess steering wheel control adapter, you have to make a cut into the factory wiring harness to make the connection. Instructions say to insert the wire from the Axxess adapter into slot 18 of the aftermarket wiring harness, except slot 18 has no pin connector. Had to trace the wire from the factory slot 18 and cut/splice it into steering control adapter. Not a difficult job at all, but took a minute to resolve. Other than that, the unit worked great on my 2006 F150 and new Pioneer head unit.
Pros: Worked fine and fit was good
Cons: A little McGuyver-ing was needed.

Though Crutchfield claims instructions specifically for your vehicle, it's really instructions for several model year vehicles within a spectrum of similar vehicles. Three wires left unspliced from the harness (I purchased the Crutchfield "ready harness" setup with mine) required a call to customer support to complete. I will say their tech support knows their stuff and was able to answer every question I had and guide me through splicing into the correct wires on my specific vehicle.

A must have...
Kurt from Titusville, FL on 1/11/2018
2008 Hyundai Sonata
I had a new Pioneer HU and wanted to maintain the Orginal OEM Harness/Connector. The only issue that I had is the pins 17-19 weren't populated. This is only an issue if you wish to use a Maestro iDatalink (which was my issue). Other than having to install a splice on OEM Harness wires 18 & 19 they rest of my job was easy. Since 18 & 19 were missing, I rate this at 4 Stars.
Pros: Maintain the OEM Harness integrity.
Cons: Using a Maestro RR or SW, you may need to splice into a wire (or two) in the OEM Harness.

What a terrific idea this is. Just match the colors! Couple of wires left over, but they were clearly marked for steering wheel control and power antenna (power antenna? Really? Even I'm not that much of a dinosaur!) I chose to solder the connectors, which seemed easier than trying to fit plug-in connectors. Took about 20 minutes once the iron heated up. Don't forget to slip the shrink tubing on before you join the wires! The plug was a perfect mate to the factory receptacle.
Pros: Easy peasy, just match the colors.
Cons: Not one.

This made the install very easy in my 2006 F-150. However, dinging one star because it didn't include the wires for pins 18 and 19 which were required for the steering wheel controls, so I had to tap into them behind the factory harness which was a real pain. Is it too much to ask for 2 more wires?
Pros: Makes installation easy, exact fit, clearly labeled and colors matched Pioneer wiring harness.
Cons: Didn't include wires for pins 18 and 19 for steering wheel controls

The easiest way to connect your aftermarket radio to to your car. No need to guess anything. Just match the colors of the wires of this adapter to the wires of your new radio and presto! You can even double check by verifying the wire function (written on it) with the function of radio wire described in the installation instructions. In summary, as easy as plug and play.
Pros: As easy as color matching Plug and Play

For a basic install this harness would work perfectly, that is if you do not have steering wheel controls. I had to splice into my main harness to get steering wheel control signal. Other than that the connector fits snug and all other connections are good
Pros:
Cons: No steering wheel control wire

Now this harness was easy to install but there'a a wire in pin number 24 that should have been loose so instead I had to go straight from my head unit wiring harness to the factory one. But overall made installation very easy.
Pros: connects directly to the factory Harness
Cons: This connector is used for multiple makes so don't panic if it says "Ford" and your car is a Hyundai.. Also if the 24 pin is connected you're going to be doing some work around on the harnesses

This adapter makes wiring EASY!!
Bob Z from New Jersey on 5/2/2016
2006 Hyundai Sonata
I bought a Pioneer radio to replace the stock radio in my daughter's 2006 Hyundai Sonata. It was easy to install with the Crutchfield instructions and install kit (faceplate/mounting bracket and wiring harness). Thanks to the factory wiring harness mating connector (part of free install kit), I was able to solder together the 14 wires that were needed and do a neat and easy job on my workbench. Then, in the car, I just plugged it in and screwed it down. Nice and easy.
Pros: Good clear description of the wiring. Thick enough wire to handle the job. Long enough wires to make building a wiring harness easy.
Cons: None.

I thought i damaged something when i dropped the steering column down during the install. After another call to tech support suggesting I disconnect the orange / orange white connection it all worked right .. They need to make a note of this ... So in installed the Radio twice !! Second time was faster !!
Pros: no cutting ...

Pros: Fit, works, didnt have to cut the factory harness.
Cons: On my vehicle I had to run my own power wire, this was not mentioned anywhere in the master sheet for my truck however a Crutchfield tech advised me that this was required to make the radio work.

Less than what I expected, sort of. Good price.
CeeJay from Utah on 12/10/2015
2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I've installed many a stereo using harnesses, and the ones I've got are double-ended. One plug for the stereo and one for the vehicle. They have all been "Plug here and Plug here, and Done". This adapter "harness" is just a plug with wires. It took me 30+ minutes to solder and heat shrink (Never use mechanical connectors!) this plug to the plug that came with the stereo. Granted, it was a good price ($0.00), but I would have paid more for an actual two-ended harness than just a plug I had to wire myself.
Pros: Works like it is supposed to work
Cons: Takes quite awhile to connect to stereo's factory connector. Instructions say to use mechanical connectors which is a Horrible thing to do - Solder and heat shrink everything!

Every time I've installed an aftermarket head unit into a car, I've used one of these adapters to connect to the head unit's harness. Saves splicing into the vehicle's harness and allows an easy return to stock should you decide to get rid of the vehicle, and want to keep your good stereo. The only flaw with this harness is the attempt to fit so many cars that it has wires that aren't always needed (like the amp wires for a Sonata - not needed in a Ford Five Hundred), and missing wires that are needed (like the steering wheel control wire for aforementioned Ford). One would think, that if they're going to put in wires that not all vehicles would use, that they would put in all the wires to fit all the marques that it claims to fit, so as to eliminate the possibility of having to do any harness modifications (either to this harness, which is what I did, or to the one in the vehicle, i.e. splicing a wire)
Pros: No splicing into the harness (except for the missing steering wheel wire - but there's a way around it)
Cons: Missing the steering wheel control wire.

This thing does what it is supposed to, make your new connection easy and mostly trouble free. The wiring diagram I had was a little off, but the Crutchfield guy new his business, and told me what to do. By the way, this tech guy was incredible, with little explanation, it was like he was standing over my shoulder, and told me exactly what I needed to know about which wire to use and not use. Thanks dude!
Pros: Perfect fit Easy to use
Cons: Color of some of the wires were not an exact match Directions were not precise for some wire connections (just call Crutchfield tech guy, he was a miracle worker, and perhaps a savant)

Cons: Missing Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter wire.

I wish I had read the review from the guy in Florida sooner and saved me the frustration. It is missing pin connection 24 for my '07 Hyundai Sonata; the infamous black/green wire. I did not know that and experienced poor to no AM radio reception. After struggling with this for a couple days, called Crutchfield and talked to tech support. Told to splice into the wire harness on the vehicle. After doing so, it worked like a charm. This is why I use Crutchfield!! The only thing that would have made this product better is to have a wire included with this harness that could be plugged into the missing port so one would not have to splice into the vehicle harness. Thanks Crutchfield tech support for the answer. Very happy it works!!
Pros: Other than the missing green/black wire issue, worked perfectly. Made rest of install easy.
Cons: Really think that a wire could be supplied with kit to address the antenna and green/black wire issue for Hyundai's.

Almost Perfect, But....
David from Florida on 6/8/2015
2006 Hyundai Sonata
Almost perfect but one glaring flaw - it is missing one wire in the harness, the infamous Hyundai "frog" wire. The pinout instructions sent by Crutchfield show it as missing and point to the EMPTY pin slot with the note, quote, "For all 2006-'08 Hyundai Sonatas: Connect the Power Antenna Wire on the new receiver to the factory Green/Black Wire matching this location (bottom of illustration) on the factory harness disconnected from the factory radio." This is a REAL problem if you need this wire. The only solution is to cut into the car's wiring harness and rig your own wire or connector around this one.
Pros: Has MOST of the wires you need.
Cons: Missing one wire in the harness.

All I can say is WOW! I had not installed a stereo in a car for over 20 years. The Metra harness adapter made my install on my wife's Focus go so smoothly it was almost unbelievable. No meters to read or making educated guesses about which wire is which. Just match color for color while following along with the instructions and the manual for the receiver. Again, so easy and full proof I can not say enough. But I can say this, MY CAR IS NEXT!! And you can beat the farm I will order these again for the receiver and the new speakers. And Crutchfield's "What Fits My Car" section of the website was dead on perfect and everything arrived in 2 days as promised in perfect condition. Best thing of all, my install of the Crutchfield stereo saved me $200 compared to the local stereo shop guys. THANKS CRUTCHFIELD, SEE YOU ON THE NEXT ORDER.
Pros: EVERYTHING. These !@#$ing things rock. I wish I would have known about these 20 years ago.

Metra wiring harness
Derek G from Chester, Virginia on 2/5/2015
2006 Ford F-150
At first, I was upset because I had to connect the receiver harness to the Metra harness. I was under the impression that it all came set up ready to plug in. But the included wiring diagrams sent via e-mail from Crutchfield were very clear and precise. The Metra harness wire color codes matched those of the harness for the receiver. The color shades were a bit different, but green was green, green/black was green/black, etc. You will need to purchase the appropriated closed end crimp connectors and a crimping tool if you do not already have them. You will also need a small guage wire stripper as well to strip the ends of some of wires that are not prepped. All in all it was 12 connections that I had to make. Don't let this intimidate you though. This can be done inside on the kitchen table before you take it out to install. It is very easy since all the color codes matched up.
Pros: - You do not have to splice into your factory harness - Color codes all matched making wire pairing a snap
Cons: - You may need to buy tools and connectors

I couldn't imagine trying to splice directly into the factory harness of the car and not using this Metra harness. Straight forward
Ed S from Nebraska on 12/3/2014

Easy; complete. Makes hooking up the radio to the Hyundai a snap. My only problem, which was handled with a call to Crutchfield, was that the stock radio had two connectors but the instructions only referred to one. Turns out only one is needed and that these cars often have two, one of which is apparently not needed - which seems odd to me - but the new radio is working perfectly.
Pros: Matches the car's harness as it should.
Cons: Instructions didn't mention the extra connector from the stock radio. Seems like they could add a line saying "ignore the orange plug from your stock radio."

This harness plugged right into my factory wiring. I soldered the ends of this and the head units harness for the best possible connection then finished off with some high quality shrink tubing. This is highly recommended no matter the installation. All the wires work and connect up as they should and are color coded to match aftermarket head unit wiring. Ford Freestar Radio Connector Adapter
Stephen M from Cincinnati on 7/5/2014
2004 Ford Freestar
The adapter works well enough, but there were two wires that were green with black stripes. One was also marked with several gold dashes as were several other wires. The other wires were all Positive conductors, so I made the assumption that all wires with the gold dashes were Positive. I tested my theory by connecting the harness with wire nuts before soldering all connections. The temporary hookup worked perfectly. As always, I then soldered all of the connection and used heat-shrink tubing to insulate all of the conductors. With this and a few well-placed zip-ties and the final result is a professionally finished harness.
Pros: The adapter works just fine.
Cons: The instructions were a bit vague and not recommended for amateurs.

Pros: Greatly reduces installation time, no need to remove or modify factory wiring harness.
Cons: I'm not sure if this was just a fluke but the pins for aux 12vdc and power antenna on mine was in the incorrect place. No big deal really but did add a few minutes of troubleshooting time.

Not bad
Andrew from NC on 4/15/2013
2006 Ford Mustang
Well, I had thought from reading the info page on the product I bought, that the included installation gear was somehome "plug and play." So I expected the harness would have attachments on one end that clicked into the factory harness, and then attachments on the other end that clicked into the receiver. I did not read anything about having to splice wires to make it work.... But this was my first install, so what do I know. Anyway, it actually went pretty smooth- with decent instructions, and thank goodness for color coded wires. Oh, and there were wires left off on both sides that just didn't go to anything at all. It was certainly worth what I paid for it, (free with radio purchase)
Pros: Free with purchase.
Cons: Step One, splice the blue wire with the white dashes, to the blue wire with the white stripe (or is it just the blue wire with no markings???)... Repeat this process dozens of times...

Not exciting or glamorous but...
Chris from Appleton, WI on 4/13/2013

As my title says, this product is not glamorous, or exciting or high tech. It just does it's job perfectly. The plug end was a dead perfect match for my 2007 Focus. The wire gauge was identical to that from my head unit. The wire insulation cut clean for my wire stripper without stretching and tolerated the heat of soldiering. Color coding was a close enough match to my head unit that there was absolutely no confusion.
Pros: Does what it is supposed to perfectly.
Cons: None.

Cons: Wiring diagram needs more detail.

Made my install a breeze. If you're complaining about having to splice wires then you should just drop the coin and take your rig in to have it done by someone that's going to use this same harness and connect it the same way and charge you for it. Was able to use three of the empty slots on my harness to dial in my steering wheel connections instead of splicing into the backside. Customer service was dead on and emailed me a second diagram pinpointing the locations for the steering connections. Tell me who else will do that for you??
Pros: Made install a breeze

Some assembly required
Wise Soothsayer from McKinney, TX on 12/4/2012
2005 Ford Focus ZX4
Connectors and wire appear to be good quality. Perfect fit with the factory harness. Be prepared for the three most hated words in the guy's vocabulary ... "some assembly required..." You get a connector with unterminated wires. The radio will have the other connector. You will have to either solder and tape/shrink tube or crimp connectors on the cable. At least 10 wires. Not a hard job but needs to be neat especially if you are tight on space behind the radio.
Pros: One-stop shop to get wiring supplies. Fit well and looks professional.

The only good thing is that the harness fits into the car harness, however whoever produces this product need to fix the way the wires hook up to radio harness. One should not have to splice into the car audio wires to install a radio. Poorly designed product because it doesn't fully work with a Hyundai vehicle or Kenwood stereo.

No power wire on 2011 F-150
Mark F from Houston TX on 8/13/2012
wiring harness had no hot wire on the F-150 side of the harness. Had to run a switched hot wire directly to the stereo itself. Used a piggy back fuse from the engine compartment through the passenger side wire harness grommet and behind the glove box to the radio. Crutchfield instruction did not mention this but when I called the tech department they said they had the info and "sorry for not sending it". I had the intergrated radio and had two wiring harness. It was obvious which one to use, but lost some of the capabilites on the F-150 display but Crutchfield told me this going into the project. I still was able to keep the temperture, but lost the clock.

JeffH from Mahomet, IL on 7/15/2012
With this adapter any my new car stereo, I was able to do all the soldering and connections at the workbench. Then when I got to the vehicle I just plugged in the adapter and the antenna and I was done! As I was wiring it all up I kept checking and rechecking all the wiring because I thought it was just too easy and that I was missing something. I wasn't. Crutchfied just took all the guesswork out of it and made a super fast install.

Perfect: 2011 Ford F-450 Super Duty with basic radio
Stajdanley from Durham, NC on 7/1/2012
2011 Ford F-450
I was told by multiple sources that the harness I needed to connect my JVC KDX50BT radio was a crazy variation ranging from 100-160 dollars. The more expensive harness is ONLY if you have steering wheel controls and Microsoft Sync. If you have a basic AM/FM radio with four speakers, no steering wheel controls, no Sync, this very inexpensive harness should work for your 2011 Ford F-450 Super Duty. Took five minutes to splice the harness to the JVC harness and everything works perfectly.
Pros: Inexpensive, easy installation, seems solid enough, works.

Wiring Harness
MikeF from Milwaukee, WI on 6/21/2012
2008 Hyundai Sonata
2008 Sonata. Worked perfectly. An important note for Sonata owners planning on using this harness - You must connect the power antenna lead from your new head unit to the green/black wire in your factory harness. This was the only extra splice needed. I'm only guessing, but I believe that the green/black on the factory harness is for antenna amplification. No connection means no am and lousy fm reception. The instructions with the harness showed clearly where the connection needed to be. Hope this helps anyone who wonders why they need to connect the power antenna lead, when they don't have a power antenna.
Pros: Clear instructions. Easy installation
Cons: No pins for steering wheel controls (which I don't have anyway)

Worked well enough... if I could do anything to change the harness, I would add wiring provisions for aftermarket steering wheel controls. All of the steering wheel control adapters require connection to factory wiring, and having the ability to connect via the same harness would make the installation easier and more professional / easier to remove if returning to stock.
Pros: Does everything it's designed to do.
Cons: Could have incorporated steering wheel control wiring into design.

2005 Ford F350 CC with new Alpine Deck

I used this harness to attach to the Alpine KTP-455 Power Pack which then connected to a Alpine INA-W910 DVD/Navigation system. I am not a technician and I was able to do all of the work myself. This harness made the work easy. The wires were labeled with their function and matched the coloring of the KTP-455 wiring harness. The harness plugged perfectly into the Ford OEM wire assembly. However, I believe it should have had two more output wires. It should have an output for the dimmer wire. It should also have an output for the Steering Wheel Control wire. If it adds those two wires then it will earn 5 stars.
Pros: Wires match colors to function for the Alpine system. The wires are labled with their function.
Cons: There is no wire for the dimmer or Steering Wheel Control.

The harness does help with the install & prevents butchering vehicle wiring. However there are a couple of wires that are missing. One is for the speed signal that is available on the OEM connector. Pros: Necessary for a good install in my opinion

Receiver Wire Harness
Gordo from Maryville Tn on 11/17/2011
2007 Ford F-150
The harness was well made and the directions that came with it matched up exactly to my truck wiring and the wire colors of the harness matched up exactly with my Pioneer AVH4300DVD system. The one wire that it did not contain was for steering wheel vol. controls. But...it did have a few extra wires that were not used for my installation. I opened up the plug and removed one of these wires along with it's brass pin (connector), and moved it to an empty spot on the harness plug that lined up with my truck's factory pin and when I reconnected the plug to my truck I had also a wire to connect to the steering wheel adaptor that would control my radio vol. No connection (spilcing) had to be made to my truck wiring system.
Pros: The harness kept me from having to splice into my trucks factory wiring.
Cons: A small but minor item is that it does not include the steering wheel control lead for conecting my volume buttons.

Fits 2006 Hyundai Sonata with modification
John from Kansas on 10/13/2011
2006 Hyundai Sonata
This harness fits the 2006 Hyundai Sonata, but requires modification for the AM radio to work. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry-out the black ground wire, and move it to the missing pin location where the AM radio wire from the factory harness meets this harness. If you do this, be sure to run the black ground wire from your stereo to a proper ground on a nut or the vehicle chasis. Luckily, with the 2006 Sonata, there is nut clearly visible directly under the area where the factory radio sits in the dash. Run your ground to that nut and you're good. The solution is either moving the pin in the wire harness or splicing into the factory wire harness. Moving the pin was the much easier solution.

NO LEAD FOR PIN 19
dan from Las Vegas, NV on 6/6/2011
Okay this unit works but the cheapo that made it up left out some leads. The main concern is Pin #19 is has no lead to connect to the factory harness. For the Lincoln LS and other Fords this is the lead to the OEM steering wheel controls. By not having connection to this pin if you use this harness and want to add steering wheel controls using an adapter you'll be forced to cut into the factory wiring. Totally unnecessary. But don't worry be smart and purchase the Scosch FDK11B instead. I think it may even be available through Chrutchfield but it's not the one they sent me. The Scoshe FDK11B has a lead for pin#19. It is one of the brown wires.

Although this adapter made installation much easier, the pinning was not correct for the model vehicle I was installing the Nav unit into. Pin #3 is actually in pin position #15 on the vehicle harness. I had to physically move it into the correct position.

2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I have a 2006 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab. Almost all the colors of the wires matched up from the new Kenwood unit to the wire harness. I soldered them up at the kitchen table and then switched out the factory unit in my garage. This wire harness fit perfectly and made installation easy. The instruction sheet that came with was also easy to follow.

I got this harness to go along with my Pioneer AVH-P3200BT unit. The wires matched up perfectly in color with the Pioneer harness (which surprised me a bit). I used the soldering method along with heat shrink tubing to keep it all secure and insulated. Putting it together took about 45 minutes or so since I wanted to take my time and do it right. I used some zip ties to keep it organized and together. I plugged it in and tested the unit. Everything fired up perfectly. This is a great unit with a good instruction sheet that labels all the wires. I really enjoyed putting this whole thing together.

Helps some but need more instruction
Andrew from Pacoima, CA on 7/16/2009
I have a 2008 Ford Focus SE sedan. It did make installation a bit easier, but the frustration came in the fact that the wire for the switched power is not correct, you still need to cut into the factory wiring and there is very little to no documentation about this to tell you which factory wire to connect to. At the end of it all, I found myself paying a professional installer to do the job. This is the harness that Crutchfield recommends for my year/make/model. It is possible that different Ford Focuses with different options have the wiring in a different order, but it didn't work for my car. Again, this harness did help some because its much easier than trying to splice all the wires together. What would help is if either the manufacturer would correct this issue, or at the least, provide good documentation so a person can correctly complete the job.

Metra 70-5520 Receiver Wiring Harness
Kent from Rowlett, TX on 7/5/2009
2007 Hyundai Sonata
This adapter didn't keep me from having to cut wires on my 2007 Sonata's harness. I had to cut 2 wires in order to use my steering wheel controls. Everything else about the adapter was great but would be more beneficial if it included the additional wires I needed instead of empty slots in the connector.

Worked but lack of effort on crutchfields end
Brad from Baltimore, MD on 5/21/2009
2007 Ford Expedition EL
I installed this in a 07 Expedition as well and it took me an hour of testing wires with a volt reader and calling the crutchfield tech support to find out the ACC/Key Switch (turns head unit on when car is turned on) wire isn't present on the factory harness. The installer must run an additional wire from the fuse box or an accessory that turns on when the vehicle is turned on. When I ordered this product I had my expedition entered into the website, so there should have been some kind of NOTE or something telling me this.

Purchased for 2005 Ford F150
Matt from Cheney WA on 2/22/2009
This item worked great. The only real issue I had was that it didn't have a pin for the pink speedometer wire. This wire is used to detect the vehicle speed and adjust the volume accordingly in the factor head unit. In my new head unit (Pioneer AVIC-F900BT) it is used to help the GPS system track my location when the signal strength is low or lost. It really isn't a big deal but didn't allow for a direct plug in of new unit.

Does not connect all pieces of factory harness
frank from hillsborough, nj on 2/12/2009
2006 Hyundai Sonata
The harness fit well and worked well except that it was missing connections. I connected it to a 2006 sonata and there is no pin connection for several of the factory wires. You will have to splice a wire if you want to get AM Radio, and you'll have to splice 2 more wires if you want to use the steering wheel control adapter. I spoke to a tech at crutchfield and they walked me through exactly which wires i'd need to use, so they were very helpful. But I am still confused as to why crutchfield would leave several of the pin-slots empty instead of having connections for all of them.

I picked this up after realizing that the harness on my '05 SuperDuty was different than my '00 SuperDuty. With the enclosed instructions splicing was relatively easy. I ended up soldering the wires together and using shrink wrap around the soldered joints. The plug fits on the OEM harness like it's supposed to do.

Ford Receiver Adapter Harnes

2005 Ford Focus ZX4
Its hard to find fault with this product. The 10 minutes I spent wiring this up (I used pressure connectors) made the installation easy. Its a lot easier to make wiring connections on a well lit workbench than trying to do this one at a time in the dash! Just be careful when plugging the ends together. Be sure all the pins for both the male and female are straight and go slow.

This harness is cheap
Craig from Jax, FL on 10/24/2008
2004 Ford F-150
This adapter harness came with my Pioneer head unit that I installed into my 04 Ford F150. I took the extra time to solder and heat shrink all the wires to my Pioneer harness. Everything seemed to plug up and made the installation very easy. However, I did not have any sound to the driver's side speakers. Long story short, the pins on the adapter harness had to bent to make a solid connection. Everything works now but the adapter was pretty cheaply made and added extra hours of troubleshooting to the install.

It is great that we have the right connector for the vehicle. However, there was one error, in the placement of the orange/white dinner line... it was off by one position as compared to my 2005 Ford Five Hundred. However, my receiver does not use this line, so that was not an issue for me.
