Easy to use because I've done it before. Soldered the connections, and used shrink tubing to cover the soldered connections.

This worked well with one problem. The connector for the ground wire was the wrong gender to plug into the coonnector from my 2002 XL7. I just cut the supplied connector off the kit and spliced on the connector from the old radio and it plugged in and worked fine!

I had a bit of trouble with this at first because it was too small to fit the factory installed harness. Called the Crutchfield technical support line and after about a minute, the technician clarified the situation. Seems on the 2001 XL-7, the harness you had attached to the factory installed radio is actually a pigtail harness. The primary harness was hidden underneath the foam covering. Once this was explained to me, the installation went ahead with only a problem being with the supplied ground lead. The connector supplied is the same size as the factory installed one (didn't see any foam this time) so I just cut the mounting lug off and soldered it to the ground connection on the new radio's harness and it worked fine. A lot easier then trying to cut and solder the old harness onto the new radio harness!
