Matches dash color perfectly
Rebecca from Sheffield, MA on 5/19/2023
This fit my '14 Honda Ridgeline perfectly. However the assembly instructions leave a LOT to be desired. Good thing I like puzzles. Also, it came missing the hardware to assemble the parts. I made it work but it would have been easier with the hardware that was suppose to come with it. What are you going to do when your dash looks like a war zone and you are mid install? Certainly not wait for new parts to arrive.
Pros: Fit
Cons: Lousy instructions for assembly and missing hardware

Essential for Radio Upgrade
Harry from Farmington, NM on 5/4/2022
2006 Honda Ridgeline
This dash kit fits nicely into my 2006 Honda Ridgeline instrument trim panel. Colors match very well. Plastic brackets replace steel brackets found on the OEM radio and storage pocket making the whole assembly a bit flimsy. It will be interesting to see if the brackets last when driving offroad. The storage pocket does not open easily with this upgrade.
Pros: Fit and color are well done.
Cons: Plastic brackets make the whole assembly a bit flimsy.

Fit pretty well. Better than others I've had in the past. Color was nice also.
Pros: Good fit, felt strong once put together for being plastic. Was confident it would secure radio well.
Cons: Slight gap along bottom. Could be installation error by me but I bolted everything together correct. Either way it's not very noticeable in the driver seat and does not bother me.

Little options out there. This will have to work.
Crutchfield customer from Macedonia, OH on 2/28/2021
2008 Honda Ridgeline
Fit is not good. The dash cover does not snap down into place after the installation of the brackets and the faceplate mounts. The stock bolts are barely long enough to tighten everything into place. Because there is not much else available this will need to be modified to fit properly. Not a good idea to use plastic brackets to hold the full weight of the radio. Causes squeaks in the dash and possible fatigue failer in the future. The security of the storage compartment below the radio is suspect.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap

The kit worked. But wow, the entire time I was piecing it together with the less-than-adequate instructions, I felt like I was going to snap a piece off - it felt so brittle! Note: when choosing the color, please see my pictures. I wish someone would have posted pictures of the colors because "black" and "taupe" are completely inaccurate color names! Taupe? Isn't that a beige-like color? Black? Isn't that so dark you think you're staring into deep space? Reality: "black" is really a dark slate grey and "taupe" is really the Honda version of light grey. Granted, the Honda light grey does have a hint of red in it but wow - taupe? I'm sorry the lighting wasn't consistent between the pictures but the photo with the unit powered off is using the "black" mounting bracket, and the photo with the unit powered on is using the "taupe" one.

It works for a nice install
Todd from Cannon Falls, MN on 10/27/2017
2007 Honda Ridgeline
The product "works". I would classify this as "bare minimum" necessary to complete a quality installation. This is being installed in a 10 year old vehicle so I can see where the product may be on the outside of the product cycle and designed to fit multiple vehicles. The brackets that hold the unit in are very flimsy and you kind of have to get the pieces assembled loosely and precariously and get a screw started and with the right amount of cajoling you can get it to not have too big of gaps around your double din head unit.
Pros: It works with a bit of patience and dry fitting and trial and error Gray'ish Color match very good
Cons: Plastic mounting brackets are a little flimsy and "bendy" You have to kind of figure out the way the brackets are installed, instructions are a tad lacking.

Flimsy and a bit difficult to figure out.
Steve D from Livingston, MT on 7/27/2016

Putting this together took more time that taking off door covers and installing speakers. Once together it is flimsy and cheap. It doesn't seat tightly with the Honda Dash container. Once installed things look 95% okay, but it doesn't instill alot of confidence compared to the metal dash kit that held the stock stereo in.
Pros: It works okay
Cons: Flimsy, didn't line up great with the stereo screws. difficult to assemble. Instructions were poor.

Must have done something wrong
Jim from Syracuse on 6/12/2016
2008 Honda Ridgeline
After installing the head unit and dash kit, I was unable to get the dash trim back where it belonged. Left a 1/16th gap between the dash trim and the dash along the top by the radio. Factory radio had thin metal tabs holding it in, new radio has thicker plastic, this trim kit added more thickness...had to apply after market narrow body trim to cover the gap. Not thrilled.
Pros: Easy enough install.
Cons: Does not allow proper reinstall of dash trim.

Great mount
John W. J. from phoenix, AZ on 2/4/2016

This mount was great. Very easy to install and only took a few minutes. Looked like it was made to fit my Honda except for one thing, it was the wrong color and didn't match the interior. I ordered grey and it came to me in black, strangely enough that color option wasn't even available as a choice. I didn't have time to send it back for the right color since I'm moving out of state, so I installed it anyway.
Pros: looks great and easy to install
Cons: wrong color

What can I say - it fits...
Paul from Chesapeake, VA on 1/24/2016

It matches the color of my dash - fits without gaps. One problem is that the bottom part is supposed to have some bolts that connect it to the top part - but it didn't come with them (even though the directions said it did). I called Metra and they said they'd send a set.
Pros: - Color matches - Fits dash without gaps
Cons: - Didn't come with all the right hardware (but Metra is sending it after calling them)

Simple and clean
Bikerbudmatt from Connecticut on 10/2/2015
2010 Honda Ridgeline
Worked fine for my 2010 Ridgeline. Mount kits have more holes than Swiss cheese because they have to accommodate many different models of receivers. Just be patient with the instructions and you'll be fine. I did not tell my tech-savvy daughter about the new receiver. When she got into the truck, it took her a full minute to realize that there was something new in the dash. I think it was because the mount kit made for a very clean finish, and the trim was a great color match.
Pros: Match to original Honda plastics was excellent. Maintains original design appearance. Accommodates under-receiver tray.
Cons: Appears flimsy. Assembly diagram unclear. Parts not keyed to diagram.

Metra Honda Ridgeline kit
Mr Innovator from Sidney Mt on 12/19/2013
2007 Honda Ridgeline
I had to see this kit to believe it, when i opened the Metra package, my immediate response was " you gotta be kiddin me! I went from hvy duty factory steel brackets to these plastic flimsy cheapo's. I commend Crutchfield for offering " free install products" but in this case guy's i wld have gladly paid for an upgrade to metal brackets, after all why wld the factory put heavy duty steel in if they were'nt needed! As soon as i can find a quality aftermarket steel bracket ,this kit is going to the landfill. Remember Crutchfield your good name can get attached to junk products very quickly, i'd dump these vendors yesterday. Free is not a "good price " when a customer is upset.!
Pros: None, absolutely none. I've seen better made plastic in Fisher-Price toys.
Cons: I have never had to write such a scathing review.. Even if this Metra kit had metal brackets for my Dbl-Din unit i wld still write it, not even a day after install & the taupe finish is perm scratched & looks like something out of a garage sale, Crutchfield... seriously you folks need to offer an upgrade as an option even if its an extra chrg. Factory off road capable vehicles dont need toy plastic brackets on expensive head units. If they did, dont you think they'd put em in first?

Nice looking but flawed for JVC KWHDRBT
JLM from Mandan, ND on 10/23/2013
The radio looks nice once installed, but kit mounting required some heavy modifying (i.e., sawing and drilling) to make it fit the JVC KWHDR81BT receiver correctly. The mods were out of sight so didn't affect the look, but the hidden brackets had to be cut down and new holes had to be drilled to match up with the receiver.
Pros: Looks nice in my Ridgeline and could easily pass for OEM. Fits the Ridgeline fine but so-so on the receiver mounting brackets.
Cons: Cheap - plastic versus OEM metal. Not a good mounting fit and required mods to fit correctly to receiver.

Overall review for kit
George W from Clinton, NC on 10/15/2012
What I recieved was good and a call to Crutchfield returned a quick answer. Kit did not contain parts or instructions for speedometer connections, blue wire connection on ant kit, or radio controls on steering wheel connections.

Install kit
Out of everything that I used to put the head unit in, this piece gave me the most trouble. The screws from the head unit were too short to go through the plastic and catch a thread in the radio requiring a run to the parts store. The assembly of the kit seems rather flimsy but worked. Once again I had trouble with short screws when mounting the whole thing into the dash because the plastic from the kit is about 1/4" thick. I wasn't able to catch one screw and had to find a longer one. The others BARELY caught.
Pros: Looks clean and original.
Cons: If this was made out of thin metal, there would not be any issues with installation. I would have paid extra to have a higher quality, metal install kit to make everything go smoother. It works but least DIY friendly piece of the whole install.

Not the greatest

2007 Honda Ridgeline
This product is not easy to put together. Also after installing the instrument trim panel of my 2007 Ridgeline does not fit flush. This product came free with my in dash GPS unit but it leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros: Color matches well.
Cons: Instructions are very vague. Trim panel does not fit correctly after install.

Honda Ridgeline Dash install kit
PaulS from Sacramento CA on 4/13/2012
2006 Honda Ridgeline
The directions were not real clear and there were many bolts missing from my kit. Called Crutchfield and they offered to send out more bolts but my dash was already apart so had to run to the hardware store and spend $3.00 on additional replacement bolts.
Pros: It fits and looks like factory after the install.
Cons: Bolts missing from package and only fair instructions. Question the build quality based on it being plastic and the factory one is metal.

2010 Honda Ridgeline
The customer service advisers were great. I used the online chat feature to gain information on the product and they were prompt in responding. I purchased this for my 2010 Ridgeline so I could have an 8" screen installed in it for my onboard computer. The interior dimensions were totally wrong but the outside (front face) dimensions were correct to the Double Din specs. I asked the customer Service Rep to double check the measurements so I would not have to order a touch screen and have it go to waste. Now this mis-measurement has halted my project trying to find more 'custom' solution. Maybe it works for a Double Din aftermarket radio/head-units, but if someone wants to install a touch-screen, please be aware of the 'internal' dimensions.

Flimsy
Chupacabra from Denver, CO on 8/2/2010
This unit is just not up to the task for a double-DIN unit. Look at the length of the plastic mounting ears and ask yourself just how long a heavy double-DIN unit will last before those ears snap off. I've gone through two of these so far, as soon as I take the Ridgeline on a washboard road, the vibrations simply snap the ears right off. I've tried reinforcing it with metal angle irons and I get a little more life out of it, but this is simply an inadequate design for the weight of a double-DIN radio. Due to the distance between the radio and the mounting holes, I think the only real solution would be a full metal mount kit with enough strength to support a double-DIN radio. Plastic just doesn't cut it in this case.
