Metra 99-5025 Dash Kit
Crutchfield customer from PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC on 8/12/2024

It turned out well enough. I have no issue with drilling a few holes that will be covered anyway. My only gripes are that #1 it could've mentioned what size drill bit to use. 7/64 is what I used, but a slightly larger 1/8 would likely work fine. #2 they could have noted that the metal sleeve needs to be removed from the radio beforehand. I spent way too much time trying to get the brackets to fit before realizing the sleeve was even there-much less needed to come off. These are small, but important points that they could easily have amended in the last 30 years, but alas. In the end, it worked out and looked well. I don't notice any terrible gaps or anything.
Pros: It fits and does its job.
Cons: Instructions are lacking.

Fit is very good, but I think they could figure out a way to do this without having to drill holes in the dash. I took the back sliding mount from the original radio and added it to the new radio which provided great stability. Then instead of using the screws, I used medium duty two-sided mounting tape to secure the radio and the trim. Seems to be working fine.

'91 Mustang single din. TAKE YOUR TIME - you won't need the adapter kit AND WON'T NEED TO DRILL HOLES if you gently file the sides of the little wallet compartment and swap the rear support from your existing unit. Get the wiring adapter(s).
Pros:
Cons: didn't need this kit

Not made well
Brad from Eagan, Minnesota on 10/10/2023

Junk. It's a good thing this came free with my Alpine radio because the install kit isn't even wide enough for my radio to fit between the housing and above the pocket. Luckily the really old install kit already in my fox body worked great with the new radio.
Pros: Free
Cons: The entire install kit.

1990 Ford Mustang
1990 Mustang GT Convertible (Orig Owner) Installed 04/27-22 - Perfect fit with my KDC BT378U Kenwood head unit. Easy install just as advertised. I've seen some complaints about drilling holes and a vertical gap. Yes you do have to drill holes but it only matters if you plan to reinstall your OEM unit (which I don't) and there's a work around offered. There is a gap but only amounts to about 1/4" total and I managed to vertically center the unit leaving only about 1/8" top and bottom which isn't even noticeable to my eye.
Pros: Great fit Easy install Looks good Good Price
Cons: Requires 4 holes to be drilled but only an issue if you plan to reinstall OEM unit.

1988 Ford Mustang
Car: 1988 Mustang GT Review: The Dash kit is of decent quality and works well. it provides good fitment and finish. The only issue I have is that the plastic storage bin has a very smooth surface, so items in the bin tend to slide around or fall out under cornering/acceleration. This can probably be resolved by adding a piece of sticky back foam (big box craft section) or tool drawer liner.

Install Kit Doesn't work with my Sony CDX-GT320
Crutchfield customer from High Point, NC on 4/24/2020
This is not about a star rating, as the install kit doesn't work with my Sony radio, so I can't give it a star rating. The CD holder box is shorter than my radio and the side supports cant' be installed properly. Also, my Sony doesn't have attachment holes on the sides to install the support brackets. This kit won't work with my radio.

The dash kit seems like it would be fine. After reading reviews that it deleted the cubby hole I went with a different one that looks like the factory cubby. The metra one does have a larger storage area but I went a different route

Could be better
Ryno from Fremont, Ohio on 7/11/2015

Not bad, but would be nice if it could snap in instead of screws showing. The other thing instead of a blank plate on bottom if they gave an option for a compartment like my stock one did.
Pros: Matches dash and fits well
Cons: Four screws and stereo is gone

Great customer service. Received my order in a matter of days. Crutchfield has a great website and it's user friendly.
Pros: Fast shipping and great technical support.
Cons: The stereo I received was a bad unit, but not a big deal to me. Nothing is always perfect. Customer service gave me a return order number and I received my refund promptly. Would buy from them again. Every thing else I purchased work great.

Forgot the coin pocket!
DP from Lincoln NE on 4/26/2014
I cannot give this a good rating for 2 big reasons. It is a little shy of fitting the old gap. Meaning the gap from top of your heating controls to the bottom of your center console. Mine had about a 1/4" gap from fitting perfect. Maybe not a huge deal? But not putting the coin pocket under the stereo like the factory? Why would you want to lose space to put things like your phone? Not a good look without the coin picket!
Pros: It's black
Cons: NO COIN POCKET! Not a perfect fit.

The installation kit was very easy to use and fit well into my 1990 Mustang. The directions provided by Crutchfield were also very straight forward.
Pros: Easy to install an fit well in older model car
Cons: The original stereos face plate included a storage cavity below the stereo which was lost witht he new stereo and cover plate.

It worked
JohnC from Navarre, FL on 9/23/2013

The in-dash receiver kit wasn't what I was looking for but I had a heck of a time finding what I wanted so I settled! Go figure that a friend sent me a site and it had the one I wanted after I had already installed this one. Oh well, it worked. I gave up the cubby compartment under my after market stereo, but I guess that's a good thing so I don't keep clutter on my dash.
Pros: It works. Fit nicely.
Cons: No cubby storage. It did come with an opening for an EQ which no one uses, but there is a blank plate to put in the space so you don't have a huge hole in your dash.

Fits my 1993 Mustang coupe good and secures the head unit just fine. I hate the screws showing and I don't like putting holes in my dash. But it is what it is. I would rather have a cubby than a eq slot also. Most radios have built in eqs now.
Pros: It does what it's supposed to do. Holds the radio in place
Cons: Looks cheap with the screws showing.

Remove the tabs, install the DIN tray, install the head unit, slap in car. Done! Perfect fit. Surprised it came out looking as nice as it did!
Pros: -Easy to install -Looks great
Cons: You may have to file down where the tabs are cut, to fit the DIN tray in properly. But this is hardly a 'con'. More like a 'heads up'.

Brandon from va on 7/28/2010

installed on a 93 gt. Fits good, works good, and very secure feeling. My only down faults is it has 4 screws you have to put in. I might be picky but I don't like putting holes in my car. Plus if someone wanted to steal it all they would have to have is a screwdriver and everything would be gone 1min 2 at the most. I think they could improve on the security. It took me 20min to take out the factory.

This product got the job done. It does not fit snuggly, which worked for my mustang since the old radio was torn out and the climate control panel was messed up. The plastic is thick enough so you shouldn't break it while installing it.
