The new control interface is very clean and easy to use. Install was a bit challenging due to the instructions. Not detailed enough even for an knowledgeable person. Many options to fit your specific vehicle options.
Pros: Clean look and great fitment.
Cons: Installation instructions need work.

Product looks good and fits well. Looks factory. There were a few minor things that made it confusing when installing. The harnesses were called something different in the discription than what the bags were labeled. There was not a proper wiring diagram. It was words to tell you what needs to be hooked up. It took me a few minutes to translate. Even a drawing with the harness showing which wires would have been awesome.

Cons: Needed a wiring diagram and a packing list showing each harness.

Confusing wiring install, came cracked\Scratched

Overall I am happy, the product came scratched\cracked which I didn't notice until it was installed. Instructions are very confusing and had to rewire the rear speakers to a 2nd harness. Seems to reconfigure itself every time you turn on the car which shuts the radio off.
Pros: looks great. Allows for HVAC controls to be used and aftermarket radio installed.
Cons: confusing install, instructions not easy to understand. Couldnt get steering controls to work, wire harness very short so not much room to check your install. Also seems to reconfigure itself everytime you turn on the car which shuts the radio off

The kit was great included everything needed. Looks factory and has options to customize as well. Crutchfield made it plug and play easy with the extra with the Ready Harness service. Customer service was great as well.
Pros: Looks factory with customization options Was able to match the HVAC control colors to the rest of my interior accessory lights and new stereo.
Cons: A bit pricey, but unfortunately a necessary evil thanks to moden automotive electronic designs.

I think it is a pretty good item. It allows me to control my SUV's heating and air controls while it provides a place for a touch screen radio/ dvd,cd unit. That's a good thing! Thumbs up ?? on it!
Pros: Going from a base Explorer radio setup to the touch screen with a backup camera is very Kool....
Cons: Wish touch screen could have been at the top.

It shut down after the first day it was installed. I took it be to installation place to be reset. I was notified that the the dash might need software updated if it happens again. However, after two weeks it never shut down (knock on wood).

The fit for this is nice, but it's reliability is not good and it is uber-expensive for what you get. I have had it installed for less than 2 months and it is already glitching. When I press the volume up/down button on my steering wheel (Brand new steering wheel switch, BTW), it only works for 1 increment, then never works again until car power is cycled. And the seek up/down on the car causes the radio power to reset. Resetting the software for the vehicle and running any available updates hasn't resolved the issue. Guess we are stuck with useless steering wheel controls on our 2013 Explorer as the purchase was 61 days ago...
Pros: Nice fit and look
Cons: Too expensive and software is glitchy and already broken

installed in my 2015 Explorer, great fit, everything works as it should. I have a the same set up (99-5839CH) in my 2014 Mustang as well.
Pros: Fits perfect, looks factory, east to install
Cons: only one I can think of is that I lost the outside temp display my original Ford unit had, Metra confirmed that this unit does not offer that but no big deal.

Looks Great.Works but no as adverticed.every time you turn on your car needs reprogram the dash kit to turning on the AC.Tech support send me a new one and have the same problem.

It is overkill for what I wanted. I just wanted to retain my standard hvac controls in a new location. This made them a touchscreen which is hard to work when you just want to crank the heat up a bit. It also won't remember my vehicle type (I guess the touchscreen works in multiple vehicles). I am going to call Crutchfield about that and see if I can fix it. This was professionally installed. Fit and finish was good.
Pros: Fit and finish good. Fits the vehicle, only one I found that would.
Cons: Turns simple HVAC controls into a complicated touchscreen. Won't remember vehicle type. Expensive.

The part fit perfectly into my dash and included all the wiring, which resulted in a refund from the retail store I'd originally purchased the other part from.
