Audio over Cat5e/6
James from Hebron, KY on 2/4/2024
I needed to send my audio from a streaming device (Optical output) up two floors to a vintage stereo receiver Aux input . I had an extra cat5e run (~100 feet including fly cables and patch cords) to the room and another near the streaming box in the basement. It works great! Crutchfield answered all the questions I had before I made the purchase.
Pros: Easy way to get audio over existing wire. Pulling new cable or fiber would have been difficult.
Cons: This is not an IP device and can't be used in conjunction with an Ethernet switch or router. It's simply uses the physical 4 pairs of the Cat5e/6 cable as point-to-point media. Not a problem in my application.
