Pull protective plastic cover off tip. Then push gently into the device.
patrick  Jul 16, 2018
Check manual for location for port connection for this cable. Once located it's straight forward connecting it to the devices. Remove protective cap, then orientate cable end to insert correctly.
david  Jul 05, 2018
The back of the television will have a small digital socket to insert the cable. It will have a red light when you insert it.

Will this cable work with my Toshiba soundbar?
waynedj  Jul 12, 2017

There is no reason it wouldn't. As far as I know, there is only one type of toslink cable.
reginald  Jul 13, 2017
I believe so if you have an optical output on the sound bar. Most have that available on them.
ross  Jul 13, 2017
First off, I am no expert. That being said....I was not sure if I could connect my computer (out) to my Sony DVD player, which had an (in) port. The cable works great!! If your soundbar has an input (SPDIF IN), make sure you are connecting it to (SPDIF OUT), so you are sending the sound to the soundbar. If needed, configure the output device to SPDIF or optical, so the signal is sent on the correct channel. Hope this helps you. Once I configured my computer to send audio out to SPDIF, I was amazed at the sound quality. Great buy here.

Is this rated for in wall use?

For the price I doubt it. However, I ran mine through the wall. Just run it separate from the power cord. I just purchase a 65" QLED TV hook it up to my receiver and it worked and sounds awesome.
john  Dec 06, 2019
Honestly not sure, but I would GUESS that it would work just fine in that application. Mine is used outside the wall.
karl  Dec 05, 2019
My understanding, and I'm not a "tech", is that this is a fiber optic cable. That being said, fiber optic cable is used for telecommunication installations. That means through the walls of buildings. The only issue, I see is that the wall penetrations will have to be large enough for the end connectors to pass through. Also pull gently when installing to prevent damage to the cable. One last thought - I don't know if there are any "code requirements", as to the insulation used for in wall fiber optic cabling. A phone call to Metra's Tech Support: line confirmed my surmise that there should be no problem, through the wall, room to room, or up the wall from home entertainment components to a wall mounted TV. Just don't stress the cable while pulling it.

Is this a category 2 cable?
thomas  Feb 02, 2019

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea, and can't help you. Please accept my apologies. I am not familiar with the category discernment on this item, and correspondingly, do not know what category this item falls into. That simply was not the criteria behind my making my purchase, so I really didn't look into it. If you find out, please let me know;. I am teachable, and could use the education!
stephen  Feb 02, 2019
No. It is a optical cable. Cat 2 is copper twisted pair.
timothy  Feb 02, 2019
